Some kid from Pittsburgh added me on facebook because I was apparently the only other person with Nunslaughter in their list of favorite bands. \m/
|
mappy is paraphilia still doing stuff and if so you should play here sometime
|
do you have any clips of your playing?
No soloing clips, just the songs on my myspace with solos in them. myspace.com/ausgeblutet EDIT: Maby I'll record some improv so you can all laugh at how much I really suck. Edit again: Here's me just fuckin' around @ 200 BPM http://www.megaupload.com/?d=TTN3KAM9 |
Dude I like your voice.
|
Thanks.
|
Anyone listen to 3 Mile Scream?
They're not bad, and I like McGachy's voice. I hope he's not actually Cryptopsy's new vocalist though. |

Wow yeah your tone sucks.
Even recording off my cheap Cube 30 sounds way better than that. |
My "rig" now consists of my little peavey practice amp, haha. I had to sell my hughes and kettner stack.
I record my actual material with the Fender metalhead at the school though, and my line 6 and digitech distortion pedals. And I'm really not concerned with what the intranetz people think about my tone, because even though everyone on here bitches about it, damn near everyone I run into in reality has no problem with it......yes, it's extremely gritty and buzzsaw-y, but it fits my music well and sounds great live. |
Good tone = Scars Of Ages
|
I hate tones like that live. It usually makes me want to kick the guitarist in the nuts after about 2 songs.
|
Good tone = Scars Of Ages
your random interjections are mildly annoying, but yeah you're kind of right, that album does have a good, fitting guitar tone. |
I am a bit blunt I guess.
Oh well, that album just sounds so perfect. And Axl, I couldn't figure out what, but something was killing your music for me, and yeah, it's the tone, sorry bro. :/ Oh, and Miasma by The Black Dahlia Murder = amazing guitar tone too. And Facing The Thousand by Light This City. |
The funny thing is, I've made a million adjustments to my tone over the past 2 years that you people have been bitching about it, so I really think you're all full of shit, added to the fact that no one in real life has an issue with it.
|
Yeah, we're all just focusing on one valid issue to piss you off.
 |
Learn to take criticism bro.
|
When did I say that?
Come on, seriously. All I'm saying is I'm going to trust the poeple and musicians I'm around and that I write and record with more than some kids on the net, in addition to my point about having changed my tone anyway. Mappy: I'll take criticism when it's valid. I like my tone, everyone around me likes my tone, it sounds great in the studio, it sounds great on cd, etc. |
I'm sure the people you write and record with are much more impartial than people on the internets
|
You dismissed 3 valid opinions of your tone because we're "full of shit" apparently.
We're what would be your fanbase, and an unbiased opinion. You'd be stupid to just ignore it. |

23. What of it?
|
I'm not gonna bother with this one.

I always hear people talking about their studio time. but i'm going to guess from the previous page that your EQ for tone is a little something like: Mid: -10 Treble: 7-8 Bass: 8-9 Reverb: 0 |
23. What of it?
You don't act it. |
There's a difference between engineers and musicians who know me and my music, and a bunch of kids on the internet who have heard mp3's of my music, which have an 11:1 compression ratio and have 1/10th of the frequencies the music was originally recorded with.
For anybody to talk about tone based on mp3's is ridiculous, let alone anything else. I'm done; I'm not even going to continue this. |

Compression doesn't have enough of an effect on tone to say that our opinions are discredited. And just because we arent ****ing polytechnical engineers doesn't mean we can't have an opinion. We have ears, you know. |
Compression doesn't have enough of an effect on tone to say that our opinions are discredited.
.mp3 and .WAV files are created by removing frequencies from the music. In the case of mp3's, they remove 90%, leaving behind only the most important information and deleting any and all overtones and harmonics. How does that not affect tone? Now it's getting ridiculous. Timbre (tone) is a product of those harmonics. |

Holy **** you're pretty stupid for someone who's studying audio. That's like saying an mp3 you downloaded isn't an accurate depiction of a song because it removed "90%". |
bullshit
Holy **** you're pretty stupid for someone who's studying audio.
That's like saying an mp3 you downloaded isn't an accurate depiction of a song because it removed "90%".
well, his point is that the tone can change, not the song itself, and people are complaining about the tone, not the song itself. |
well, his point is that the tone can change, not the song itself, and people are complaining about the tone, not the song itself.
Yeah but do you honestly believe that audio compression can have such an impact on tone that it would completely alter our perception of it? That's totally asinine. |
Well it is harder to enjoy a song if the tone is bad, that is all part of the songwriting/recording process.
|
That's like saying an mp3 you downloaded isn't an accurate depiction of a song because it removed "90%".
basically. |
Regardless, if your tone is worse due to compression, so is EVERY OTHER BAND'S tone due to compression, therefore giving us a valid comparison.
|
Yeah but do you honestly believe that audio compression can have such an impact on tone that it would completely alter our perception of it?
That's totally asinine.
It can, and it does. We spent a week listening to shit side by side, complete aiff files by mp3 files, and it becomes incredibly obvious how much music sonically changes. I'm not going to even bother writing you a ****ing essay on why and how. I've got an entire shelf of textbooks on this shit; I don't need to convince you the information is accurate. Mappy: Yea, and to me a 128 kbps mp3 of any other black metal band sounds just as bad if not worse. |

You dont need to convince me. I'm well aware of what compression is and what it does. My point is you can't tell me that it has such an effect on your tone that we're unable to make a valid statement about it. |
Sargeist, Blut Aus Nord, Enslaved, Emperor, Endstille. All of those bands have a far more appealing tone.
And for the record, my favorite guitar tone in any black metal is Herbst. |

You're acting as if I completely don't know what I'm talking about though. That was my point with that statement. And like I said before, it really does trash the sonic quality of any recording, and an mp3 of any other black metal band sounds just as bad to me. |
sup IAR?

Don't know why i'm on this kick but i'm liking it. |
