how are the barts?
I haven't had any huge play of it yet, only a few minutes through the rig to make sure everything worked. Sounded fine to me. I've got the same pick-ups/pre-amp system in my SR500 which has been golden for years now so I'm not anticipating any problems. |
i see, the jury's still out for me on what i think of them
|
On my four string I give them full marks. Never had a problem with them, huge range of tones, plenty of output too, never been left wanting in any regard.
Gonna have to familiarise myself more with them on the 6, to see how they handle the extra lows and highs though. |
i agree in the huge range of tones, i dunno they just seem abit clinical for me - no character
but again congrats on the rig man, looks like a sexy set-up |
Cheers man I'm heaps happy with it hey, definitely set for the foreseeable future. I'm keen to get a truly portable rig one day, like a 1x10 or 2x10 cab with one of those Little Mark Tubes that can fit in my gig bag or whatever. But that's just something to piss money away on one day and by the time I have a few grand to piss away I think there'll be all kinds of different cabs and amps to pick from so it's all just daydreaming.
Good point about the Barts, they definitely aren't the pick-up to go for to like, add a character to a sound. They're quite transparent which is only good or bad depending on whether that's what you want. |
yeah i would love a portable, gig worthy set-up
at the moment i carry around my Marshall 450 watt head and just play through the P.A but thats quite limited in what it can do and the sorts of sounds i get out of it but hey it will last until im playing Wembley and as for the Barts i cant really talk, i play through some EMG HZ's with my 5 string |
Hehe yeah.
I've decided lately that except in special cases like buying myself a nylon string acoustic to chill on, anything else I buy rig-wise or whatever has to be paid for in advance first by music-related earnings. That should keep my spending honest. |
i see, pretty good strategy - providing you can find the work
you in a working band or solo? |
Gigging doesn't make me any (worthwhile) money at the moment, all my income from music is from teaching. I still work other jobs and **** though. Next phase is to get into some paid work doing chart-reading gigs and whatever around here. I like the originals stuff I play in but it's asking for trouble to let yourself get bummed when that doesn't pay off. I figure now, let that side of playing be fun, and sort my money out other ways so I don't get all bitter and **** about it which is a direction I was headed in for a while.
|
cool, so you teach music?
|
Yeah I do private tuition on bass/guitar.
|
sweet, teaching is an option i could do after this course im doing and so far it looks the most promising
|
Yeah man, it's a great option for any musician who knows their stuff. Pay is great and it's a pretty darn enjoyable way to make a dime. Not to mention a great way to keep up any of the chops that the rest of your playing might neglect like reading and stuff. And hopefully eventually all your students are keen to buy your records when they come out :p.

I don't know that I could teach. I get too flustered with people who come to me expecting to learn to play chords to strum their favorite songs after only 10 minutes of teaching. |
Well, it's not to say that patience isn't required sometimes. If you have good students it's really enjoyable but of course, ratbag kids or morons of any suit will ruin any activity.
|
My friend and I are almost done recording a 5 song EP. It's pretty, mellow music.
|
Sweet dude. What are you doing on it?
|
I've just been playing guitar. He's doing bass and keys and synth, and we'll give it to our friend to do drums when we finish everything else.
It's just the Capital H lineup doing something substantially different. |
Nice man, let us know when it's all done.
I had a mad drum playing drums the other day in a jam, hadn't gotten to in ages. It was fortuitous because I'd just the day or two before bought some new sticks and a hi-hat clutch, and it turned out the kit was missing a clutch and the drumsticks well that part is obvious. |
Yeah, we'll have it all done in about a week or so. It's just going to go right up on myspace and be free to download.
These are just the people I love making music with, and we've got so much to make. I've never been able to wrap my head around drums. I'm always at a loss and can never make anything sound good if I'm sitting behind a full kit. With a couple of pieces, like a tom, hi-hat, and crash, I could have some fun. |
Haha yeah on an electric kit I'll cut loose on the pieces of it a bit but on a real kit I'm only comfortable so far with a kick, a snare and some hats. And I barely open the hats.

this makes my pants tight. |
Proper.

My band might have a show on Halloween, so we've got these lab coats, head coverings, and masks to wear as a costume. Personally, we should start dressing in it regardless of Halloween.
We could always do the blood-splattered lab coat thing. Or something else. I don't know. |
I think I'm going to dress as Green Man for our first show.
I'm somewhere in this picture: And Jamey, that is a guy in the green top. He's very limber and would be right up your alley. ;) |
that dude in the green dress has surprisingly nice curves.
|
You need to get bodysuits in different colors for each person in the band.
