I have an excuse becaus I took a good few month break from MX.
He has no reason to hack again. He was merely pissed because he felt he was unfairely treated (which he very well might have been), but now he has no reason to be.
the he was acting afterward sure warranted a banning. |
I hardly posted with my old account. I think in around a year and a half I managed to get around 190 posts? Now look...hahaha. I took huge breaks, but I like MX a lot more now, even though it's a little less prosperous.

So what's stoping this guy to repeat the same process if a mod decides to ban him again?
So what's stoping this guy to repeat the same process if a mod decides to ban him again?
He did it because he felt he was unfairly banned. He was given essentially no chance at redemption as he was banned on site. They agree'd to treat him as any other MX user and he agree'd. We can only hope he'll comply, but he has no reason not to. |
Well, the movie will be done (sort of) by the end of the week. Then comes post-production. I've been assigned the task of audio editing because unlike our director, I'm not tonedeaf and have trained my hearing to recognize the strengths and weaknesses in audio.
Still, I have my concerns about the way the shooting is going. The director has a mise-en-scene approach, but I'm worried that he might be taking it too seriously. He tries to accomplish way too much in a single shot, and he has a real aversion to close-ups. In 35 minutes, we see maybe four close-ups total. I've voiced my concerns, but he's very stubborn and keeps explaining or rationalizing away everything. Oh well. I took this class simply because I wanted to learn what it takes to make a movie. And so far, that's what I've gotten. |
Yeah, it's the same in Plays. The director tends not to want to change his ideas.
I usually have my Drama teacher though, and it's helpful that he's a good guy and takes on some of your ideas. |
That's fine.I would be angry too.I'm sure Ken had his banning reasons but a month ban is too harsh, if I understood correctly.I don't like the reason he got unbanned though. He basically blackmailed the site and got his old account back through fear.Correct? Also which mod account did he stole?
|
I guess part of my concern comes from the fact that I wrote the script, and my approach to filmmaking is such different. Whereas Joe is very minimalist in terms of shots, I'm a montage director. Every type of shot, high-angle, low-angle, crane, medium shot, close-up, extreme close-up, wide shot with a wide angle lens... There is no camera set up I will not try at least once.
I always have to find some way to work symbolic shots into the script as well. The one short I was working on, Talking Shop, I wanted to feature a shot with the camera sitting on the table and propped up slightly to show Vincent dealing out cards as they fly over the camera from the deck in his hand. |

He was unbanned merely to relieve some tension. The mods didn't want to risk the site all becuase of one guy getting banned. Atleast that's my understanding. |

Directors such as that make movies more interesting. Experimenting with shots is always fun for me, even when I'm just making a home movie or spoof with my friends. I took a film class as an elective for a trimester. My teacher was excellent, and I learned alot about angles and shots there. Now me and my friend who both take the class always critique movies' shots, much to the confusion of the people we go see the flicks with. |
Ello boys, I now own an original copy of Pink Floyds Umma Gumma, as of Yesterday! I love it is on vinyl and I am about to put it on.

But I can't work with that. I need to have a shot for each significant action. You can't have a single shot do everything, it just doesn't work. |

Although the opening shot in The Player was clever, and they had a nice tip of the hat to Touch of Evil in it. Very good stuff there. |
Soulseek is down. Damn it to hell.

Anyone know of a Mac OS X Panther version of Soulseek? Thanks.

That's the kind of mis-en-scene I was referring to. The tracking shot had appropriate pans and close-ups to keep the audience engaged rather than just showing the entire space of the lot there in wide-shot and micing specific people as necessary. |

I hate directors who call themselves "Indie Film Artists" and "Progressive Directors" and pull stuff like that. I enjoy having fresh and original camera angles, pans and shots, but sometimes it is best to stick with what has been proven by time to work. Also, @ your chief director in your project who has an aversion to close-ups...damn. That must be hard to work with. |

There are some clients floating around, but I think you have to do some tweaking to get them to work. Try googling it, it's possible, I just dont remember how off-hand. |
I'm so pissed off. Apparently some hacker got my IP address or something

Did you find out about this because your ISP shut down your internet service, or did you do a manual check?' A similar thing happened to me about eight months ago, except I was infected by a minor virus that spreads itself through the computer it infects. |
