U think metallica will release a new album after St Anger? All their albums post 1991 r crap (that's my opinion). Their best r the ones in the 80's: kill em all, ride the lightning, puppets, justice. i hope they produce a good album if they're going to n go back to their 1980's style.

I don't know, seeing 4 ~40 year olds trying to still play thrash metal doesn't sound like a good combo. Its not that they won't be able to play thrash metal, but they can't create it anymore. All of their riffs post 91 have so bluesy or soft rock feel to them. I'd prefer them playing whatever they want, something different hopefully. It'll keep the 20 year old chain going of them releasing a different album everytime. But if they EVER experiment with country or punk music, I will hunt them down and cut them  . |

They're going back into the studio around Jan/Feb apparently. New album is meant to have a more thrashy sound. This was discussed a few pages back |

well they're concerts are pretty good. they would just need some major help to get the voices back to like old times. all their more recent riffs are softer, but they're still pretty amazing. there are never going to be any more riffs like seek and destroy or one or puppets ever again out of metallica, but maybe itll still kick ass |

eerily enough, i remember hearing about James Hetfield doing some solo country shortly after Newsted had left the band... |
I dunno 'bout u guys but i'd reeeeally like to hear some new ballady metal on their new album. Seems to me as tho on they really ignored their success with other metal ballads i.e. NEM and the Unforgiven pt. 1 and 2 on St. Anger. Hey I figure they're already as mainstream as they can get, why try to go back now?..

Just edit your post. |
But that song sucks
I really like that song.
Wasnt it originally a country/americana song?
It originally came from Ireland, it used to be sang in pubs an awful lot. |
i was watching Reading 2003 highlights, they totally ruined Blackened, and infact, almost all of their songs.
they sucked up there. |
*was at Reading '03 and spent most of his time on an inflatable couch drinking beer*

Metallica have lost so much since the early records. St. Anger was pretty terrible, although the rest of the newer albums are pretty good (different style than the likes of Master of Puppets and Ride The Lightning, but still good). They're missing the incredible pace and thrashy style (Battery, Master of Puppets, Fight Fire With Fire, Hit The Lights to name a few are good examples of what I'm getting at). About the closest thing to thrash thats post-black album/self titled is Fuel (which, don't get me wrong, is a good song). Anyways, nuff of my ranting bollocks.
To clear up something, Whiskey In The Jar is a cover of the Thin Lizzy song. One last thing: Bring back the solo's!!!!!!!! I demand to hear more Hammet. |
One last thing: Bring back the solo's!!!!!!!! I demand to hear more Hammet.
i couldn't agree more!! kirk hammett's solos are still amazing live, so why doesn't he solo on albums? what's going on kirk?!?! |
