Ah, nice. How's it working out for you?

Kingofdudes 12-30-2004 03:43 PM

I love it; small size, great sound, plenty of space. It is just gonna take a while to get used to the scroller.
And Keannely? Never heard of him/her? What do they write about and are they worth the trip to the library or local bookshop?
Patricia Kennealy Morrison, the writer of the Keltaid series, which starts with the Silver Branch. It's a really interesting series, supposing that the voyage of St. Brendan from Ireland wasn't made in sea-bound ships, and they weren't headed to Greenland. Rather, they were the descendants of the people who founded Atlantis, and were flying back out to the stars to found a new world. It mixes a lot of fantasy in, and most of the time you forget that it is set in a technologically advanced world. It is based mostly on Celtic history as well, so I loved it for that reason as well.

Interesting side note: She was married to, and is the faithful widow of, Jim Morrison of the Doors.

Paranoidd 12-30-2004 05:33 PM

She was also a crackhead. :D

So, before i have to venture into the guitar forum...
Does anyone have any experience with the Boss MT-2 Metal Master or the Boss DD6 Delay pedal?

The fags at guitar center wouldn't give me two wires to try them out for some reason so before i go back again, anybody have experience?

I own a Boss MT-2 metal master and it is great if you have a good guitar.

munky_magik 12-30-2004 08:20 PM

no, but: http://www.harmony-central.com/Effects/Data/Boss/MT_2_Metal_Zone-01.html - MT-2, http://www.harmony-central.com/Effects/Data/Boss/DD_6_Digital_Delay-01.html - DD6. Hopefully they should help and save you a trip into the guitar forum :)
I reckon all you'll get in there is half the forum saying they suck, the other half saying they don't suck, the first half saying John petrucci doesn't use them...so they suck, then the other half saying Kirk hammett uses them.... so they dont suck, then Half the forum saying Kirk hammett sucks, and the other half crying.

Per Ardua Ad Astra 12-30-2004 08:46 PM

Yeah, the guitar forum sucks (sorry 30748323492-)

And i have an ibanez RG1570, so i have no problems with the guitar. I think i'm going to get the Metal master, pending i ever get to try it out.

Eitri Is Berserk 12-30-2004 09:22 PM

Hi, how are you all tonight?

Distant Echoes 12-30-2004 09:33 PM

I got a Boss CS-3 compressor a few days ago, and i love it. I managed to kill the batteries the 2nd day, and as soon as i got it, i set it to the tone on Another Brick in the wall 2 solo.

Im stopping by Sam Ash tommorow for a new amp (and the people in the guitar forums helped me out a little, but id like some other opinion too). Does anyone have any suggestions for price range $200-$300?

Bartender 12-30-2004 09:45 PM
I have 21,411. I haven't been repped in a week, though.
Hah, I got over 300 points from two sympathy reps because of this.

On another note, I elected to do quite a lot of reviews in CD Reviews earlier today. I'm starting to think that maybe this wasn't such a good idea.

NP A Canadian mix playlist I made because I was bored.

Quo Vadis - Silence Calls the Storm
Rush - La Villa Strangiato
Kataklysm - Shadows and Dust
Cryptopsy - Cold Hate, Warm Blood
Gorguts - Illuminatus
Bryan Adams - Please Forgive Me
Michael Buble - For Once In My Life
Goat Horn - Rotten Roll \m/

It's almost finished though.

200-300 isn't that much spending room. You could go to 350, and just get a standard mexican strat, or you could try any low end Ibanez RG series. I also know Shecter makes a few guitars in that price range, thought out to be good enough.

DD-6 is good but I like the Digitech DigiDelay better. The MT-2 I like alot but lots of people don't. Guitar Center is gay.

I'm currently rocking the mexi strat. Lucky for me, I play it through about $2000 worth of pedals and my amp. The Fender '86 Ren Knob Dual Showman I heart.

Per Ardua Ad Astra 12-30-2004 09:54 PM

I've had bad experiences with Digitech, or rather my friend has.

I'm hearing the best distortion pedals are either the Digitech metal master, or the Boss Metal zone. I would know which i liked better if the faggots at guitar center knew what they were doing.

EDIT:
I'm currently rocking the mexi strat. Lucky for me, I play it through about $2000 worth of pedals and my amp. The Fender '86 Ren Knob Dual Showman I heart.
I used to rock the mex strat, i'm in the process of upgrading everything in rig.

Strat -> Ibanez RG1570
Zoom 606 digital effects -> Boss metalzone, DD-6 Distortion (I think)
My amp is a Randall, therefore it's a beast and in no need of change.

Broken Arrow 12-30-2004 10:02 PM

Amp season it is!

Well I got $500-600 cdn. to spend on a new one but don't really know what I want yet.

Distant Echoes 12-30-2004 10:16 PM

To Per Ardua Ad Astra, i wasnt talking about guitars, but i know what your talking about.

Im debating between a Boss DD-6 Delay or a Digitech Delay. I sort of want the boss because i dont like the Digitechs Pedal quality (bad experiences) or selection board on the pedal.

The amps im looking at are

Vox AD30VT
Behringer V-tone GMX212
Ibanex TB50R

Im leaning toward the vox, because i heard it sounds like a tube amp (or it might be, i dont know), It has great effects, and is pretty cheap. My only issue is i heard about quality problems, like parts falling off or stop working shortly after purchases.

I plan on getting a ton of effect pedals, so i want an amp that can process all of them and sound good. The built in ones dont matter much to me, but just sound quality.

Some more wattage never hurt anybody either, but i dont want to spend over 300

Kingofdudes 12-30-2004 10:34 PM

Im so proud of myself, I am finally starting to take an interest in playing guitar again :D

Yay for guitar.

I dont really know that much about amps except I need a new one.

That Vox one Distant Echoes discribed every thing I was looking into except the falling apartness.

Well the Doors played Vox amps so I guess they can't be to to falling apartness.

Dancin' Man 12-30-2004 11:01 PM

Does the DD-6 have a loop function? I know the DigiDelay does and it is the ultimate song writing assistant.

I'm just gettin good at guitar now

So now I own at drums and bass, pretty sweet at some keyboard stuff........and just gettin guitar down now :D

Kingofdudes 12-31-2004 12:39 AM

I was getting good for a while, then I suddenly lost interest. Luckily I am starting to love playing again :D

RiceMonster 12-31-2004 12:58 AM

I want to learn how to play more instruments, right now I play guitar, bass and keyboards. I'd buy some drums, but they're to expensize :upset:

Kingofdudes 12-31-2004 01:00 AM

Im gonna start taking Piano class during 4th quarter, which will lead me to my summer goal: Record the guitar and piano on Pink Floyd's Echoes flawlessly

CaptainWaits 12-31-2004 01:00 AM

U could probably find some piece (but a playable piece) for like 100 bux

My friend wanted to learn drums, so he found a no-name type at a garage sale for 50 bux....he gave it to me, I fixed it up a ton.......and now it sounds more like a 300 dollar kit.......still a piece of sh*t though, but good enough

Awesome :thumb: I've always wanted to learn how to play piano in a classical manner, by a teacher.

Good luck :)

magicbus 12-31-2004 11:53 AM

So this is where all the cool cats hang out eh?

Gilmour I'm gonna start learning piano too. We have one in our basement, but it doesn't get used much. I'm gonna make this my next instrument project.

Kingofdudes 12-31-2004 12:00 PM

I got a pretty crappy keyboard right now, but I think I will save up for a better one once I get a good quality amp.

Bartender 12-31-2004 12:22 PM

Real pianos are so much better than keyboards.

(Not trying to rain on your parade, it's just what I think :)).

magicbus 12-31-2004 12:23 PM

Yea keyboards are where its at. I love Rick Wright's work, man. That's the reason I love Any Colour You Like, the keyboards sound so badass. I also love The Doors for the same reason.

Vintersorgs first album Till Fjalls is addicting...I got it last night and the title tracks chorus is so simple, yet so catchy.
