OK, let me elaborate a bit more on this idea.

FTP = File Transfer Protocol. Basically it is a way of regulating file transfers between two or more users. To use this, you'd need a client program such as FlashFXP (which I recommend), BulletProof FTP, etc. I'd be the "server" and you'd be the "client." These could be downloaded easily from something like suprnova.org
Following so far?

To use an FTP, lets say for sake of argument that I am the server. I run a server program. This program allows others access to files and folders that I specify. You are not able to create or modify files, just browse and copy. So, you can snag my music, but not any of my other files. I'd set up a login for each member of the thread, to an extent. Only regulars. I'm not having n00bs come in and leech my stuff. You'd have your own login and password. Further, unless you are using dial-up, I can actually lock your custom login to your IP adress, meaning you can't distribute your login to friends.

As of right now, my mp3 collection is 89.4 gigs, leaving about twenty something free on that drive. (It's a 120 gig drive I use strictly for storage). However, not all of it is classic. I guess I could put all the classic stuff in a separate folder, but I spent all of last night organizing things, and I'd rather not go through it again.

I'd also create an "upload" folder where you could send me stuff if you wanted.

Some FTP's work on a ratio system, where you may earn credits for downloading based on how much you upload, IE if you upload one meg, you can download three. I don't like doing this, so I'd leave the FTP as a leech (which should be pretty self-explanatory).

Like I said, my comp is usually on 24/7, however I have a cable connection which isn't the fastest around. Also, my provider has strictly forbidden running a server from my box, a reg which I have signed a contract for, and I wouldn't want to lose my connection based on that.

I'll think about running it, but my intent was really just to see if anyone was interested. It's a good idea but a pain in the arse to operate.

Guys, do NOT use Kazaa or any of that crap, it's garbage.

The best file sharing thing I've seen in a while. Get Bittorrent, and this stuff is at your fingertips.

[QUOTE=badmoon349]I've noticed kids only liking popular and well known Classic Rock bands, like Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, ect...

I agree and the kids that say they like led zeppelin say they like stairway to heaven but everyone knows stairway so they should start getting into other songs by well known bands that everyone knows
