vashts80 04-18-2005 04:57 PM

I can't get the galloping right on Run to the Hills or Brave New World. I can fret it right, but I can't get the galloping down. :( (Bass)

np: Helloween - Don't Stop Being Crazy

Deth 04-18-2005 07:25 PM

Are you using two fingers or three? It's a lot easier with three, especially when you're a beginner, though I have no idea how long you've been playing.

vashts80 04-18-2005 10:02 PM

I play basically how 'Arry plays, index and middle with my middle and ring kind-of like "stuck" together. I've been playing for about 6 months.

Six months?! Well you're getting an early start to Iron Maiden, so don't get frustrated too quickly. You're definitely on the right track, but playing like Steve doesn't happen overnight. Have some patience and twiddle them fingers!
I doubt it. I mean, think about it - BNW tour, live album. DOD tour, live dvd. I really doubt they are gonna make release live fodder from three tours in a row. That would be stupid, and I doubt Maiden would do that unless there is a huge want from the fans for such a thing to be done - I can only see two reasons to do it, you see. A) For the fans, and B) for the money. Seeing as they are not likely to do it for the money, if the fans don't want it it ain't gonna happen. If it DOES happen and the fans don't want it, I'll lose a lot of my respect for Maiden.
Ok fair enough point. But I was mainly referring to point A) " For The Fans " for those who are unlucky enough to go see them.

Alos when is the DoD tour, live dvd being released and do you know what the setlist is and when is the next part of the history coming out. I'm guessing mid to late 2005

amateurbassist 04-19-2005 02:12 AM

I think that they should bring out a dvd/cd of this tour, cos its part of the early days isnt it.....

they probably have enough live albums already

amateurbassist 04-19-2005 04:48 AM

mebbe, but there will be ppl who will want to see it.... after all they are more of a live band than a studio band...

scentless.apprentice. 04-19-2005 05:00 AM

do they play the older songs differently live now or just do it the same

amateurbassist 04-19-2005 05:05 AM

if youve seen the second disc of RiR i think its nicko that says they like to play their songs differently each time... to keep it interesting.....

scentless.apprentice. 04-19-2005 05:09 AM
I thought Daves was first, then Adrian, then 'Blood is falling like the rain...' and then Janick. It's the way that they play that gives it away for me. I always use paschendale as my example when explaining the 3 different types. First one: Very hammer on and pull off based, a few triplets thrown in = Dave, Second: A bit of wah, kind of awkward, that thing where you start low and go up = Adrian, Third one = Bends right at the 3rd fret region, kinda sloppy = Janick.

I don't know that much about keys, everything I know about is from playing Maiden songs and finding out what key they play in.
Nah...Jannick=cheesy, Dave=Jazzy, Adrian=psycho

As a topic of discussion, without reading Run To The Hills, who do you think would win a fight out of all them:

Adrian "Psychotic" Smith?

Steve "Oi-you-don't-mess-with-me" Harris

Jannick "I'm-already-butt-ugly-so-I-don't-care-what's-sticking-out-of-that-baseball-bat" Jers

Bruce "I-do-everything" Dickenson

Nicko "Drummer-'nuff-said" McBrain

Dave "Smile!" Murrey

Who would win?

Who would lose?

Post!

Thunder Fingers 04-19-2005 05:37 AM

I would think Steve.. he seems like a take no **** person..

Lord Abortion 04-19-2005 05:44 AM

steve"we didn't mind a ruck in them days"harris wins

amateurbassist 04-19-2005 05:46 AM

steve....... but i have read it.......... :amaze:

NP: the angel and the gambler

GurS 04-19-2005 05:56 AM

I say Nicko'd win. Bruce to come last
