Sad But True 06-25-2011 09:51 AM

Well, shit. That's a post. Good read mate, thanks.

TBH my main reason for doing karate is it keeps me active and I actually enjoy it. It may not be the most practical of things but I generally dislike violence and things like kick boxing just seem a little, I dunno, 'thuggish' to me. That's not a reflection on the people that do it, just an opinion. Karate's endgame seems to be control over your body and mind etc, with a practical element of being able to defend yourself, whereas the really aggressive styles' aim is to be good at fighting.

Squirrel 06-25-2011 12:17 PM

As a general rule they all share the same philosophy of control and whatnot, hence why theyre an art form. TKD, Eskrima, Pankration etc all have the ethos of striving to excel in your chosen art, but they all came about for different reasons - msot of which are to protect the indiginous peoples of the area they came from.

Kickboxing is a really watered down simplified construction of the modern era but I know what you mean, i've seen a lot of people do it cause they seem to like kicking things or having the tag of "being a kickboxer".
Oh shit yes, well played Fingers. Although I'm still massively confused as to why you called it Jack Lyons when you uploaded it.
I've noticed this. It's quite amusing.

Sup all? Hungover to balls. Pretty tame grand prix. But it's bloody glorious weather so I'm going to perch myself outside with my book.

blockhead 06-26-2011 11:49 AM

fingers mccoy 06-26-2011 12:02 PM

i didn't say that was a particularly strong example of your trying hard

Sad But True 06-26-2011 12:29 PM
uhh how is typing "you're a faggot" trying hard
I'd say it was the frequency of such posts.

blockhead 06-26-2011 01:14 PM

yeah that takes so much effort each time

Sad But True 06-26-2011 01:20 PM

More than I'd put in.

GottaPost 06-26-2011 01:29 PM

blockhead chill man

SugarCoatedSour 06-26-2011 04:16 PM

What exams you doing Al? You in uni?

fingers mccoy 06-27-2011 07:17 AM

sbt, http://www.york.ac.uk/music/lyonslive/

SugarCoatedSour 06-27-2011 07:36 AM

yeah, the ravel was most likely my favorite. Very beautiful interplay, give me a link if one comes up for those players.

Hahaha shit, coincidence of the year there.

Blue_Moon 06-27-2011 11:40 AM

Not proper uni, just a government type course thing going on on web design, it's alright, passed that exam there today was piss easy mickey mouse thing, but all is well nice to have all the same...

and the festival was awesome, seen some nice acts, a few bands and people i knew/recorded were playing which was nice, they ran outa wine the first night which was not nice! I've no recollection of the Friday night I was there, but a lota booze was involved!

here's 3 random phone pictures I have since my proper cam is awol

You can prob see the delightful weather from a few of those pics

and for some reason i sent my friend a voice message saying "Dental plan. Lisa needs braces." and he decided to put it on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRQmF_aFToE

Kinda a small Irish typa festival, a few biggish acts but pretty quiet in comparison to the other big ones was awesome and pretty nice on the beach, didn't have to walk miles to get to places so it was pretty cool, pissed rain the first day and was a mess getting the tent up with mud and crap everywhere but was pretty enjoyable, good shizzle... need to give the body a rest from the booze and general wrecked-ness

On a side note, Grandmaster flash was a joke of a headliner! he played the first 30 seconds from all favourite songs over the last 25 years, he didn't sing or anything it was a bit bizarre, but the average Joe didn't care since everyone was off their rockers I guess

Sad But True 06-27-2011 01:54 PM

Doesn't Grandmaster Flash just do dj stuff? Didn't think he actually did any singing?

Blue_Moon 06-27-2011 03:43 PM

He had a couple of famous songs back in the day but yeah all he had on stage was a macbook and him giving the odd "yeah! in between his itunes "concert festival" playlist

Sad But True 06-27-2011 04:09 PM

Hahaha, le fail.

Lod, I has (mostly) completed the first song for my solo project, I noes it's a big fucker but if you'd give it a listen I'll love your balls till they're red raw.

dave mustaine #2 06-27-2011 05:20 PM

Solid song SBT.

I felt there was something wrong with the drum sounds during the first maybe 2 minutes but it seemed to go away after that.

It does seem to drag on a little but I'm sure once some vox are in there it'll change that.

Edit: it was the snare, seemed to have a very strange sound to it, and it was a little loud. But when the arpeggiated guitar part comes in it seems to sit better.

Sad But True 06-27-2011 05:47 PM

Yeah the snare isn't the greatest, all it's mid range thwack gets instantly lost in any mix. Looking back at it now I'm going to move some bits around as some of the transitions are a bit shitty. Cheers a shit ton for listening mate.

Matt? 06-27-2011 05:55 PM

i think you could maybe get rid of a guitar track or two at some parts. seems like it's overloaded at points. maybe would sound better if you switchd some of those parts to other instruments

i d k

Sad But True 06-27-2011 06:07 PM

Yeah it started out as a clip to see what sort of layer ideas I could come up with (hence the beginning building with each subsequent layer). I don't really have any other instruments but I will have a go at dropping a few layers here and there once I've added vocals. Thanks for the listen.

sup gice, tonight I said "let's see this chatroulette thing I see posted all over the internet, what can go wrong?" and 15 dudes wacking their penises later decided to just close the browser and take a shower to feel less dirty. Talked to a couple of nice girls but wtf man, who thought it would be a good idea to give horny teenagers webcams and the ability to interact anonnymously with other people? there's too much dick on the internet

hey fella.

the internet is a very scary place. however, what exactly did you expect on that chat thing? methinks you were perhaps expecting a llittle too much to believe for an instant that it was being used for any meaningful communication?!:amaze:

i think a revolution is due. burn all computers and go back out into the real world.

but i get to keep my macbook for musical purposes.....:o

motogrifo 06-28-2011 01:31 PM

yeah, it's not that I was expecting a lot, but I surely wasn't expecting seeing more dicks in 10 minutes than in the locker rooms at the swimming club :/

Sad But True 06-28-2011 01:32 PM

Well, shit. PC fried its power supply. Add to it that the GPU was basically on its last legs and that the case cooling fan is broke (with suspicious fist-sized dents around it), I'm pretty sure it's fucked. I wonder if I can convince my old man to claim off the home insurance...

The_Mop 06-28-2011 02:45 PM

That sucks man. I've only ever had components actually fry once, that was recently. Annoyingly my insurance said they didn't cover hardware faults and the warranty had expired. Le balls.
