Well since you always like to argue the usefulness of studying different things, all you can really do with a philosophy degree is become a lawyer or a philosophy teacher, while knowing multiple languages is extremely helpful in finding jobs, and a lot of companies pay you more for knowing business languages like German or Chinese.

Also, are you seriously comparing philosophy to linguistics Brent? Like, how is studying anything "better" than studying anything else? That's possibly the most arbitrary argument I've ever heard of.
