Don't get me wrong, I love pedals :p Just always wanted a brutal sounding amp, and my amp right now isn't brutal enough.
|
Dude, play through a V4, so ****ing loud and awesome sounding.
Model Ts, not so much. :( |
Loud, but is it filthy sounding?
if it doesn't sound like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjcB6HS3t_Y I'm not interested :p |
You could probably manage to achieve that tone.
I need to fiddle with it more, to see everything it can pull off. |
Haha, a cool tone for special occasions but I'd never want to sound like that all the time it just wouldn't be versatile enough. Fits that song like a glove though. I don't mind Glassjaw but I haven't heard heaps of their songs I've just got Worship & Tribute.
|
Sup casual?
I went and saw BTBAM, 3 Inches of Blood, The Faceless, and In Flames last week. Best show ever. |
How was BTBAM with their new music?
At least, I assume they played a few songs off the new record. |
They only played one, Obfuscation, 9 and a half minutes of goodness. They played that, Selkies(which for some reason was the only time a moshpit broke out :(), Foam Born (a) The Backtrack, and Autodidact. It was also unfortunate that the sound guy just completely took the piss during their set...
|
A 4 band line up where I only like one band? I'd go if it wasn't too expensive.
And get Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Silence, gaslight. It's better than Worship and Tribute. The tone does work all the time, because it isn't as hard hitting as that when you don't pick as hard :) |
I dunno man, I'm not sure I could get away with that tone across the range of stuff I end up having to play :p.
It'd work in an original band though if you wanted to keep that vibe through all your songs, for darn sure. I think I will get them album dude, sounds fun. |
Meh, I'm in an original band where I'm just carving out my own tone for it, so I can do whatever I want. The only time I've had to use my rig recently for anything other than that was when I played at a friend's wedding. But I ended up just using my regular overdriven tone for that too. Sounds stupid, but it worked well. You can always wind the drive control back on dirty amps too :)
|
Wedding gigs are class, I've never gotten to do one :(.
I'm gonna look to get on that scene next year. |
If this originals band ever kicks the can, then I'd want to be in another originals band. But I think in the meantime I'd love to do a wedding band for a year or two and quit my real job for a bit, because originals can be really hard work. Turning up, playing some covers and leaving £100 richer twice a week would be well appreciated for a while.

Nothing beats getting paid for your skills now and then. I've finally gotten to making decent money from my music skills teaching but I want to add some regular paid performing to that next, which shouldn't be too tricky provided I make a big of effort to get on it. My original bands are fun but it just isn't a realistic avenue for income.
|
It's a hard grind driving miles for a gig to play to a handful of people and possibly making petrol money back...
Unless you're irishslappop who by all (his) accounts seems to be in an incredibly popular unsigned band. |
You mean gatsu? Yet to hear any recordings of that.
But ah well. Not to be too Hank Hill, but in the case of original music, meeting your own standards is the highest pay of all. Hard work is it's own reward. I'm proud as hell of my old band's EP and my other band's album is shaping up really nice so I'm stoked about that. Really looking forward to sharing with you guys once I sort out the release for the EP. Propane. |
Yeah. I want evidence of it to be honest. I'm dubious :p
I'm proud of stuff we do, I just like other people to like it too. There's nothing worse than pouring your heart into an EP and then releasing it to general apathy :( We're putting out our debut album next year though and I'm super stoked about it. You'd all best buy it! :p |
Trade you it for my band's album which will probably come out next year too :p.

We have our first show next Saturday, so I'm pretty stoked for that. The venue is small, but I heard that they record video of all the bands, so if they do, I'll post our show.
We're going to cover "I'm So Sick" by Flyleaf, which should be interesting seeing as we just decided to do it this morning and have a week to learn and perfect it, as well as getting the band to learn another one of our long originals. eGad. |
I just worked a week of night shifts, midnight to 8AM, but they were giving me a lot of anxiety so my boss is moving me. Back on day shifts starting next week.

Good luck with the show. How much original material do you have? How long of a set do you get/have? |
night shifts suck. any shift which messes with my normal body clock ****s me up big time. I was working 3am - 1pm shifts a while ago and getting up that early was just too much for my body to take. I'd get home and go straight to sleep, and wake up in time for the next day of work :(

I think with our cover, we can stretch it to an hour. If not, I've got a bunch of acoustic cover songs in my arsenal that I can pull out. |

Wow. Starting at 3AM is even more fucked. My body isn't reacting well to doing this at all, so I'm incredibly happy that I can get back to a normal schedule again. |
I worked night shifts for a little while. It sucked. Working at 8am isn't exactly my favorite either.

At the moment I work two jobs and neither require me to be awake before midday.
It's the little blessings that count. |
