Omen, Manilla Road, Metal Church, Iron Angel and the likes \m/

Stormrider 05-06-2007 08:15 AM

Eh, I'll try that. Thanks.

Stoic 05-06-2007 08:22 AM

At first I kept myself away from modern euro power. Then I started liking it and then I started finding utterly unappealing. Thanks to Slough Feg I discovered quite a few 80s traditional metal bands which I still listen to from time to time. I think they've got a different raw and exciting quality modern bands lack.

Stormrider 05-06-2007 08:24 AM

I had that Twilight of the Idols album from Slough Feg. And I don't think I ever gave it a full listen :(
Never kept my attention that much...

Stoic 05-06-2007 08:32 AM

I remember that. You're like...the exception. :p

Stormrider 05-06-2007 08:47 AM

Haha. I don't know, I liked certain songs, but never got through the whole album. I should giver it another try.

pate 05-06-2007 09:28 AM

Traditional Metal ftw.

heh, my mom is good friends with Duke Erickson, the original bass player from metal church, I've actually met him too now that I think about it.

Stoic 05-06-2007 09:47 AM

This is awesome! Any idea of how your mom got to meet with this guy? Is he still a metalhead?

Angmar 05-06-2007 09:57 AM

Yeah, they went to school together and he was her date to a dance, and then they were real good friends all through school, and it was awhile ago when i met him, but I would bet he still likes metal.

Shattered_Future 05-06-2007 10:02 AM

I never liked Metal Church.

pate 05-06-2007 10:14 AM

Metal Church is amazing.

Angmar 05-06-2007 10:53 AM

The bit i have heard by them was pretty sweet.

Superfly 05-06-2007 11:28 AM

Any Labyrinth fans here?

Nepenthe 05-06-2007 11:41 AM

Hear the timebombs begin to tick!
I'll hit you like a ton of bricks!

Riva 05-06-2007 05:38 PM

Metal Church is bloody fantastic. Their S/T has a great cover of Highway Star.

That's a great cover.

Stormrider 05-09-2007 06:22 PM

I'm listening to Jag Panzer's Ample Destruction. Hadn't done so in a long time. And damn, this is really good.

pate 05-09-2007 06:59 PM

I'm the only person that likes 4 or 5 of their other albums more than that one.

Stormrider 05-09-2007 07:03 PM

Well, I can't say, as this is the only Jag Panzer album I've heard. I'll be getting some others if there are any that are similiar to this one.

Shattered_Future 05-09-2007 07:16 PM

There's another band I don't like...

Chris Broadrick has mad chops though.

Riva 05-09-2007 07:17 PM

I haven't heard a Jag Panzer album I didnt' like, but I only have Casting The Stones, Ample Destruction and Thane To The Throne.

Who likes the new Cage? It's power metallish.

Stormrider 05-09-2007 07:18 PM

I dunno, this is kind of in the more traditional range, which is something I'm not very fond of, but this right now is MUCH more appealing then the Edguy album I listened to a couple of days ago.

Shattered_Future 05-09-2007 07:19 PM

Jammie, once again, you need to leave and go cut off a limb for disrespecting Edguy.

Stormrider 05-09-2007 07:21 PM

Eh, they just seem to be one of those bands where I enjoy a couple of songs off an album and not the whole thing. There are some songs that I absolutely love, and then there's others which are very average.

Riva 05-09-2007 07:34 PM

It's alright, I feel the same way about them Jammie.

Stormrider 05-09-2007 07:35 PM

:)

I need to go and relisten to some Seven Witches aswell.

Nepenthe 05-09-2007 07:36 PM

I've only heard The Hellfire Club, and I usually feel like turning it off about 3 minutes into the second track.

But I could listen to the opener a few times in a row. Mysteria is some real power metal goodness. The Navigator is pretty good too, but the rest of that album is beyond mediocre.

Riva 05-09-2007 07:37 PM

Anyways, back on topic.

Cage's new album, Hell Destroyer. Like or loathe?

Shattered_Future 05-09-2007 07:38 PM

Are you HIIIGH? That album is terrific.

We Don't Need A Hero
Down To The Devil
King Of Fools
Forever
Lavatory Love Machine
Rise Of The Morning Glory

Dude, all of those are feckin' amazing.

Haven't heard that one, but I don't remember if I like Cage or not...
