You'd be a better contributor if you stayed on topic. Ie: not going on about whether you're a good contributor or not and blabbering about Lacrosse even when it's noted that it's off topic.
hbp likes them. They're not "mathcore", though, just plain ol' scene-y white belt grind.
 not White Belt Grind  |
Sure they are. I don't see why that's a big deal.
|
What constitues white belt grind, again? Is it a sound thing or an appearance thing?
|
Most see it as a little of both but I'd say it's a sound thing, even if it is pulled from aesthetic.
|
Well, I don't know. I think POYRRG just sounds like dirty grind done differently.
Dirty Grind =/= White Belt Grind |
I just think of white-belt as implying modernised and not necessarily "traditional" grind typically associated with youth and, sadly, the scene side of things. I dont see the label as detriment.
|
Well, when it includes Heavy Heavy Low Low, See You Next Tuesday, etc., I think it sort of is to The Number 12 because they are so much better than both of those and any other band that playes to the "scene".
And any band who's myspace page is labeled as this: Grindcore/Jazz/Expiremental |
Jazz should almost never be included in any extreme genre lexicon
I get what you're saying though. The label is hard to see as anything other than negative when 1) It's associated with a lame fashion distinction 2) It's associated with bands that generally aren't good. At all. Still you can't take associations so clearly, I mean, Protest the Hero are often associated with awful, awful bands. I mean ****, they're touring with Devil Wears Prada. Sometimes associations just have to be ignored when looking at whatever is in question, yknow? |
True, and Between The Buried And Me is touring with August Burns Red and Behold...The Arctopus and are soon to be on tour with Dream Theater and Opeth. Another perfect example.
|
Except Dream Theater and Opeth are actually good...
|

meddlecore
no one appreciated this play one words? |
Well, Opeth is.
It isn't a matter of subjective "goodness", it's an issue of a classification not being justifiably negative via association.
no one appreciated this play one words?
I did, I just didn't want to take this thread off topic as it has a tendency to. |
Except Dream Theater and Opeth are actually good...
Not really, but that's not really the point either. |
Not really, but that's not really the point either.
thus proving
It isn't a matter of subjective "goodness", it's an issue of a classification not being justifiably negative via association.
|
Right, that's why I said that's not the point either.
|
Right, that's why I said that's not the point either.
No I know, I was just re-enforcing your re-enforcement. I'm in a logical truth and functional logic class, so I'm trying to keep my brain awake between examples |
Aright I gotcha :p
