Obama is speaking at my graduation. Sick.
why

TimJim 02-13-2010 09:13 PM

because michigan state needs a terrorist on campus

:amaze: 02-14-2010 12:22 AM

Oh snap.

I go to UofM though, not MSU.

Epidemechanical 02-14-2010 01:30 AM

im kind of like

the most radically cynical and pessimistic person i know

discuss

gaslight 02-14-2010 01:38 AM

yeah i can see that

Epidemechanical 02-14-2010 01:42 AM

i cant really help it i mean

everything about this world to me screams horrible and i just don't understand how we can look at this place and see anything worth liking

in ourselves, animals, nature, anything

people see a mountain range and see "beauty" i see massive glacial scar tissue formed over millions of years of geological pressure and torture

plates being mercilessly slammed into each other creating massive fissures and towering broken parts

idk

Epidemechanical 02-14-2010 01:44 AM

watching a snapping turtle tear something limb from limb with a ferocity that isn't really even imaginable

the world just sucks and i really hate optimism like it really bothers me when well-to-do idiotics living in the post-modern bubble talk about how life is so good and we should appreciate it and stuff

like wtf

go ask all the people who died to plague in Constantinople in the 11th century if life is good i mean what the ****

Gattsu347 02-14-2010 02:05 AM

yeah life is good because we dont die from the plague any more.

but not playing devil's advocate, i ****ing hate everything/one

Epidemechanical 02-14-2010 02:08 AM

yes we do lol we die from obesity and influenza and liver failure its the same old ****

Gattsu347 02-14-2010 02:18 AM

i think America's biggest problem is too many old people not enough babies.

Convectuoso 02-14-2010 02:22 AM
i think America's biggest problem is too many fat people having too many fat babies.
Quoted for truth.

But it applies globally.

Gattsu347 02-14-2010 02:34 AM

Fat babies reminds me of those Maury episodes where they're like "i feed my bebe pizza, fried chickennnn, what eva he waount."

"BUT SHAQUON, YOUR 2 YEAR OLD IS 75 POUNDS!"

gaslight 02-14-2010 03:55 AM

yeah man you know you're really clever and smart if you hate everything because it just means damn, nothing is as good as you

gaslight 02-14-2010 04:40 AM

And as for you Liam, I dunno man, I see some of where you're coming from I can't share the overwhelming negativity of it all.

Epidemechanical 02-14-2010 11:20 AM

hating things has nothing to do with seeing yourself as better

im just as self loathing as the next guy

Gattsu347 02-14-2010 01:32 PM
yeah man you know you're really clever and smart if you hate everything because it just means damn, nothing is as good as you
I used to be a lot more hateful than I am now. I'm done with irrational hatred.

Epidemechanical 02-14-2010 01:40 PM

its not irrational though its perfectly rational

I'm in a pretty good place in my life at the moment. I mean, I hate my job, but it's not killing me. It just eats up all my free time.
The band is going well. We're doing some recording at the moment.

I'm starting to think about going back to school. Maybe pick up a trade, like plumbing or something. Easy work that's in demand. I don't know.

Fair enough. I don't think Obama would be interested in an honorary law degree from MSU though ...

Sup Cas?

BenJammin 02-15-2010 09:01 AM

I need to go buy new strings for my Stambaugh today.

I do not want to part with the money for them.

FunkMetalBass 02-15-2010 09:35 AM
I need to go buy new strings for my Stambaugh today.

My current technique is to buy two identical sets of strings. When one set dies, change them out and soak the dead strings in denatured alcohol for 24 hours. After 24 hours, wipe them off, let them dry on a paper towel for about 20 minutes, and then re-coil them and stick them in the string package. They'll sound brand new.

Repeat when the next set dies.

I don't know how many times you can keep cleaning the strings, so you may be SOL after 2 or 3 times, but with 6+ strings, that's easily $50-100 in savings.

That reminds me, I need to order a couple more sets of those Foderas for my Schecter. I also just sold those DiMarzios, so I can afford to get that Nordstrand NJ4SV I've been gassing over.

BenJammin 02-15-2010 09:50 AM

Well, I don't change my strings very often. These are the ones that came on the bass, two years ago.

But I've also been playing a lot more in the last 2 years than I have most of my musical life, so they've worn down to the point of being totally dead and completely uninspiring.

Efrim 02-15-2010 10:00 AM

Hey Ben.
Car rental company went under, trip cancelled, heart broken.

Feel like coming up to Montreal?

But still, if you can get a whole year out of them with only 5 minutes of actual work, why not?

It's always good to have a backup set anyways. We 6-string bassists have thinner strings that snap easier than our low B's.

I would if I could, but I can't afford to take the time off work. I'm just starting to recover from all the money I spent when I was jobless. :-/

I'll try and bully Jeremy into taking a trip up in the next couple of months. Maybe March break (well, not that I have one any more, but you know).

My backup set of strings is my second bass. :p

If I'm at a gig and I bust a string, it's 100x faster to change basses than to change strings.

Lame. March break as in Easter? I don't have March break, apart from the four day weekend.

How is life, anyway?
i want to use him to legalise weed
that'd be nice ... but i'm happy with it being decriminalized in my city. only a 50$ fine if I get caught.

Well, obviously. I always bring a spare bass, even though I only switch between them half of the time.

I really need to find a way to speed up setup time for my rig. I'm debating whether or not I want to eliminate my cabs on stage and just use the monitors. All I'd need is my 4-space rack.
