*this board have way to many Pink Floyd Fanboys, we are nothing compared to them...* atleast i aint :p if it happen a maiden guy against Alex Lifeson, i would have to say Sorry Maiden :p

ashman 04-18-2005 04:26 AM

/wipes tear from eye...

what's happening to this once respectable forum, its some kind of madness.

the_uber_penguin 04-18-2005 05:17 AM
Yeah E minor...I thought Adrians solo was in C# Minor.

There are over 100 Maiden songs, most are in E minor.
Could well be. I assumed it's Dave's solo because of the heavy jazz influence in it and the ridiculous speed, while the last one (in D minor) is more typical of Adrian (lots of position changes, big stretch, very rhythmical) and that Jannick did the first one (very cheesy, like lots of Jannicks...) in E minor.

I think writing a lot of songs in the same key is good, it makes you less likely to write the same song in different keys (like punk bands) and you get used to that key, so you can do more in it, in terms of songwriting.

Here's one of the PF fanboys.

Pity I'm also a Maiden, Metallica and Priest fanboy.

ashman 04-18-2005 05:29 AM

I thought Daves was first, then Adrian, then 'Blood is falling like the rain...' and then Janick. It's the way that they play that gives it away for me. I always use paschendale as my example when explaining the 3 different types. First one: Very hammer on and pull off based, a few triplets thrown in = Dave, Second: A bit of wah, kind of awkward, that thing where you start low and go up = Adrian, Third one = Bends right at the 3rd fret region, kinda sloppy = Janick.

I don't know that much about keys, everything I know about is from playing Maiden songs and finding out what key they play in.

Thunder Fingers 04-18-2005 05:31 AM

give me a guitar and some months and ill be able to join thoose guitar discussions..

you can use your house phone

You have your whole life to have a bass, talk on the phone, and watch movies, whereas chances to see Maiden are slimming.

Thunder Fingers 04-18-2005 06:05 AM

hmmmm.. as a bassist you make it hard for me to give you advices...:p bass vs maiden.. lets see, if you go see maiden, how long will it take you to aford a bass?(you dont have to start on anything expensive u know.. just figure out wheter you like it or not...

amateurbassist 04-18-2005 06:14 AM

quite a while.......... i cant decide.... iv tried averything i can think of to decide... but i just cant live with the decision......

and the bass i want is a replica of Steve's

ashman 04-18-2005 06:27 AM

Well I've got a Squier P-Bass, it's ok for galloping every now and then and that was cheap!!! I've seen encore Basses for only £80 and they're not great, but if you can play on a sheet Bass, then surely you'll be able to play on a good 'un.

amateurbassist 04-18-2005 06:54 AM

incidentally does anybody know where i can get a west ham FC sticker...
