Their new album is miles better than their older one. The old one had the shittiest programmed drums ever, while this one is just better produced.

yeah ive only heard their new one and it is really solid. i might check out their old one just because. they kind of remind me of a mix of Evoken and Swallow the Sun, but more on the Evoken side

I'm having trouble explaining to my friend what stoner metal is. He seems to completely neglect the metal part, and keeps asking my why Sublime isn't 'stoner', because stoners listen to it.

I'm pretty sure he musically hopeless. He's convinced that this years Bonnaroo is like, the best music festival ever put together, and that Jack Johnson will not make it a complete bro-fest.

Stoner metal is basically metal with psychedelic influence and classic rock/metal (like Sabbath) influence too, melded together to fuse a wonderfully dense, progressive sound imo. Look at Cathedral.
