Nostalgia 12-18-2008 04:30 PM

Jondur 12-19-2008 03:25 AM

The guy doing drums is too skint to afford the studio costs.

pate 12-19-2008 09:04 AM

New Candlemass samples up on Nuclear Blast Europe's myspace. They sound ****ing great.

Professor Frink 12-25-2008 01:02 PM

gmoneyguy 12-25-2008 01:02 PM

Professor Frink 12-25-2008 01:10 PM

gmoneyguy 12-25-2008 01:31 PM

Check out

Candlemass
Witchfinder General
Count Raven
Solitude Aeternus
Pentagram

Nostalgia 12-25-2008 02:11 PM

anyone heard candlemass' cover of countess bathory? its pretty terrible, and thats coming from a huge messiah fan.

NemesisDivina 12-25-2008 03:33 PM

the venom song?

ATM 12-25-2008 08:35 PM

Pentagram playing 2 dates, in NY and Baltimore.

YESSSSS

Also a Moonshine reunion at the Baltimore date.

pate 12-26-2008 10:31 PM

I wouldn't bet on those Pentagram dates actually being played.

ytsedrummer 12-26-2008 10:48 PM

I reccomended these guys a few months ago, but I'm gonna ask again: anybody here listen to a doom metal band from the UK called Warning? They are ****ing amazing.

Nostalgia 12-26-2008 10:51 PM

are you serious? warning are ****ing etrrible.

can't stand those posers tainting the name of true doom metal

Correction 12-26-2008 10:51 PM

i think maybe everyone does

RetiredAt21 12-26-2008 11:03 PM

Any of you into Wormphlegm? In An Excruciating Way... is ****ing incredible, I haven't heard anything else, though.

Angmar 12-27-2008 01:24 AM

I heard some Wormphlegm and thought it was pretty terrible.

Nostalgia 12-27-2008 01:31 AM

They're not bad, but the songs are way too long.

Angmar 12-27-2008 01:35 AM

It's been awhile but I remember some really pointless stuff being thrown in that made it sound stupid idk.

NemesisDivina 12-27-2008 01:40 AM

ilu steve

Angmar 12-27-2008 01:49 AM

Matt omg you're posting on your NORMAL account!

That demo is good. The album is tedious though.

It's good ****.
I like IAEW, although the production lacks a bit.
Tomb Of The Ancient King has some fat production though.
Great songs, only 3, but hey. :p

willfellmarsy 12-29-2008 01:41 AM

hey gang...i'm looking for a band like in mourning that incorporates doomy elements into a faster assault...i like a good doom section but lose interest if there's too much doom, or not enough flourishes or speed...is ghost brigade (they're on the similar bands page so i dnt even kno if they have any elements) worth checking out? Any other recs? I appreciate it...

Nostalgia 12-29-2008 01:56 AM

Well While Heaven Wept vary from slow, melodic sections to faster sections with harsh vocals and growls. Nothing they do is too slow either, so I think you'll find a happy medium.

I suggest Of Empires Forlorn

Disembowelment.

EDIT: Didn't really pay attention to the bolded bit. Haven't heard that band.

the2stranger 12-29-2008 06:21 AM

Also: Ataraxie.
anyone heard candlemass' cover of countess bathory? its pretty terrible, and thats coming from a huge messiah fan.
Lies! It's ace! I love the absurdity of operatic wailing and a doom band doing a thrash classic.

Nostalgia 12-30-2008 04:05 AM

I'm gonna have to listen to it more, but I couldn't get into it the first time.

But I dunno, I wish Obituary would cover more Venom. Their rendition of Buried Alive is one of the best covers I've heard.

ATM 12-30-2008 08:39 AM

I like Obituary's cover of Dethroned Emperor.
