I like Pink Floyd and Grateful Dead. No matter how many instruments they play.

Badmoon, sorry for being a douche in the other forums.

Woodstock 10-17-2004 07:51 PM

End this arguement!

This would be a good debate topic.

magicbus 10-17-2004 07:54 PM

But if you use 3d recording, you don't get that sweet echo effect when the vocals leak into the drum mics :thumb:

(Plant on Whole Lotta Love, just about 4:00 minutes)

That's why most Zeppelin recordings rule.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 10-17-2004 07:56 PM

Still 3D recordings are way better

magicbus 10-17-2004 07:57 PM

No seriously! Listen to that part! Its sweet! I even left the time!
Still 3D recordings are way better
Yea but if the band doesn't use 3D recordings, then you feel alittle more like it's a "live" recording. Any you know what they play in the studio, they can play live as well. (Obviously the Beatles and the Dead can play live, thats not what I was refering to.) It just seems more real to me if you don't 3D record.

I agree. I decided if I was in a band, I would try both, but prefer non 3D, and only use it a little. It seems more authentic to me that way.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 10-17-2004 08:02 PM

The Beatles really didn't do that many live shows...

Woodstock 10-17-2004 08:04 PM
The Beatles really didn't do that many live shows...
Rooftop Concert was sweet though.

lunch998 10-17-2004 08:04 PM
The Beatles really didn't do that many live shows...
Maybe not, I just added that in to avoid an arguement. But we all know the Grateful Dead can play live.

Seafroggys 10-17-2004 08:05 PM
The Beatles really didn't do that many live shows...
Uh, that's all they did from 1960-66.....except for the time to make their movies and record their albums. That's why they quit touring.

I'm pissed that the polls aren't open that long. I wanted to vote for Blue Oyster Cult so bad in #1, but I haven't been online for the past 36 hours, I'm pissed. Is it possible that it can be changed? (or is it gonna move on anyway?)

Well, it would be "live" if they took only one go at a track. Otherwise, if they weren't using the 3D recording, they'd just be playing it live, but taking many goes at the song.

PaintballJunkie 10-17-2004 08:10 PM

yah that was there last concert, probably where u2 got the idea eh

DeusExMachina 10-17-2004 08:11 PM
Why do politicians have debates? Why do news channels have Debate shows?
Thats different. In a political debate, you can say "i have the facts right here that so and so did a better job, they are irrefutable truths." if anyone said "it is a fact that pink floyd is the greatest band ever" people would call them an idiot.
Not really Badmoon made reasonable point and maybe Ill cheak out a little more Dead...and maybe not
He did make reasonable points, but its just as easy to say "hey, you should check out the Dead, they're really awesome." Also, him just saying "The Dead are better than Pink Floyd" won't (hopefully) convince you. You'd have to listen to them and make up your own mind. Which can be done by avoiding the argument with a lot less hassle than if you do it through the argument.

Box of Rain is my favorite off American Beauty.

RockAndRoll 10-17-2004 09:05 PM

I love that song.

Badmoon 10-17-2004 09:12 PM

I prefer "Sugar Magnolia" and "Ripple/Brokedown Palace" (I play those two as one usually).

RockAndRoll 10-17-2004 09:13 PM

Sugar Magnolia is pure brilliance, I also think Ramble on Rose is brilliant.

Badmoon 10-17-2004 09:14 PM

Yeah, that's a great song. I really like "China Cat Sunflower"'s time signatures.

StreetlightRock 10-18-2004 05:07 AM

You know... did any of us concider Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johny Cash or Buddy Holly for the poll?

DVG.

gmoneyguy 10-18-2004 08:31 AM

I'm pretty sure Elvis is one of the polls, but the others you would have to ask Rock not Roll about.

Woodstock 10-18-2004 09:02 AM

Were the Doobie Brothers on the list? I don't remember seeing them.
