DisposableHeroes 01-06-2005 01:10 PM

its just going from the 9 to the 5

Joe 01-06-2005 02:04 PM
Can anyone here actually play the RTL solo? The finger stretch..beats me man
its really not that bad. on the 5 use your index on 9 use pinky. if you have small hands then either too bad or keep stretchin

that and the part right after i can play.

DisposableHeroes 01-06-2005 02:20 PM

Same here, but I'm working on Fade to Black, The Unforgiven, and One. I'll get them down if it's the last thing I do.

JACKROXYOU 01-06-2005 04:11 PM

i'm working on seek and destroy

Burdcheese 01-06-2005 04:50 PM

I'm working on Nothing Else Matters and Sanitarium on guitar and One on drums

Mister_Che 01-06-2005 04:52 PM
I'm working on Nothing Else Matters and Sanitarium on guitar and One on drums
Nothing Else Matters isn't too hard so I'm sure you'll get it down soon. Same deal with Sanitarium. I learned them both in a week. No lie.

jaymz_is_god 01-06-2005 04:56 PM

I can't play solos. My fingers are too stubby for it :upset:

JACKROXYOU 01-06-2005 04:56 PM

yea welcome home was a really easy song

nothing else matters solo is so satisfing

Mister_Che 01-06-2005 04:58 PM

Yup, I think knowing them both was satisfying for me as well. Nothing like adding a new song to your repertoire.

ironsandman32 01-06-2005 06:23 PM

Don't feel bad, he'll cope.

As for the Avatar, find an Avatar, right-click, then click properties. Copy the URL and paste it in the blank provided.

Call of Ktulu, good choice.

The solo is easy ****.
Can anyone here actually play the RTL solo? The finger stretch..beats me man
Yeah, I can play it. I haven't done it in a long time, so I probably forgot though... :upset:

JACKROXYOU 01-06-2005 09:13 PM
nice, the intro is really easy. i haven't touched the solos
yea most solos i dont touch

except
one
nothing else matters
master of puppets

ThrashMaster27 01-06-2005 09:20 PM

I don't think the Master of Puppets solo is that hard to play. Aside from that bit where Kirk fell off the **** Fretboard...it's a solo that sounds impressive but isn't too difficult to play.

JACKROXYOU 01-06-2005 09:21 PM

thats why i know it

Freezing Moon 01-06-2005 09:27 PM

I usually try the solo, learn it, do it until I get it, then not play it for a long time and forget it. :upset:

JACKROXYOU 01-06-2005 09:50 PM

you and me both man

Freezing Moon 01-06-2005 11:00 PM
you and me both man
Yeah, at least it makes me better to learn them in the first place.

metal_milita 01-06-2005 11:55 PM

i just downlaoded part 1 of Live ****: Binge and Purge and theres no sound to it...

alas, tis my dearest parents that think metallica is sent from satan to bring hell on earth through booze and metal (at least the 80's anyways).

funny part is that sounds pretty true.

But i am not ALLOWED to buy it. Im just wondering if thats the way the file is, or if i just downlaoded a corrupt one?

Ha, that sucks for you man. Nah, I wouldn't know, never downloaded it myself.

Metal_David 01-07-2005 03:26 AM

I've bought a Cort X-6 and a Kustom Dual 35 DFX amp a couple of days ago. It's my first guitar and I really want to learn to play guitar, and especially Metallica.

Now I've tried to get that crunchy Metallica sound out of this amp (full distortion, high bass, very low mid and medium/high High) but I don't seem to be able to get anything more than a heavy rock feeling out of the amp.

Now my question is...is this a known factor with this amp ? And would I be able to get that crunchy Metallica sound (MoP/ AJFA era) with a Boss MT2 metalzone pedal ?

Thanks in advance

Oh yeah, I'm new here :)

First off, welcome to the forums.
Secondly, I know this question is kinda Metallica related but for more guitar orientated questions try visiting the guitar forum.

But the MT2 should help to get a crunchy/scooped sound, but try going to a guitar shop and trying it out to see if it has the sound you want.

Termiitos 01-07-2005 06:38 AM

uhmm

Well, I started to find any Kirk Hammett related topics and then i discovered this musicianforums and also I discovered Metallica Official thread. I must admit, I really LOVE Metallica from Kill em' All to St. Anger, tough St.Anger is kinda phatetic lol...
well anyway, I started reading this thread and when i finally got onto th page 30 I started to wonder how long is this thread anyway? And I was kinda stunned when i realized Its over 400 pages
Here are my statements:

Current band members in order of priority ( IMO)
Kirk
Jaimz
Lars
Rob
I have to admit, I'm a huge fan of Kirk Hammett and I like absolutely everything about him.
I saw someone saying that Rob looks like a Donkey Kong when playing and i kinda agree with that lol

Kk, best songs (not in order of priority):
Master Of Puppets
The Unforgiven II (lead me to Metallica)
One
Sanitarium
Whiskey In the Jar
Fade to Black
Seek and Destroy
For Whom the Bell tolls
Ride the Lighting
Creeping Death
Battery
Enter Sandman.

Best Album...hmm...I think they are all good but...hmm..the black Album...and Ride the Lightning and Master Of Puppets are equal...but again, it's just IMO..

Kirk Hammet rules!
Long live Metallica. :thumb:

I don't doubt you - its just you're probably a lot better than me :thumb:
I'm really quite poor at this guitar thing...

btoto 01-07-2005 08:29 AM

I recommend learning the unforgiven I solo. It's very easy, I learned the whole song in about 2 hours.

Burdcheese 01-07-2005 08:36 AM

I'll give that a go - It looks a lot easier than some of the stuff I've tried

i_love_my_epiphone 01-07-2005 08:43 AM

unforgiven 1 dont look to hard, i think ill give it go maybe i can get my first solo down

Joe 01-07-2005 09:01 AM
unforgiven 1 dont look to hard, i think ill give it go maybe i can get my first solo down
yea it doesn't look all that bad. it's one of my favorite solos

the only hard thing about it looks like going from low on the fretboard to pretty high in like a hundreth of a second and i can't quite do that yet...

Joe 01-07-2005 09:02 AM
yea most solos i dont touch

learn fade to black. it's really not that hard. i cant do that hammers and bends right at the beginning that he uses the wah pedal on live, but the rest is really simple

btoto 01-07-2005 09:14 AM

^hehe, I can already do all that bends and hammers at the begining. The only part that bugs me in that solo is to finish it (it fades out). I guess I'll copy it from Cunning Stunts version :)

Joe 01-07-2005 09:16 AM

i haven't tried the last part after he starts going back down the fretboard. the bends and hammers piss me off. my fingers aren't quite fast enough. i can do it with a wah easily, just not distorted and with no effects

I know all those solos, plus all the MOP and Kill em All solos, but after that, I just got lazy

Joe 01-07-2005 09:42 AM
