So, when installing a kill switch, what should I do with the ground wire? (At least, I'm assuming that's what it is)

One Groovin Clown 11-09-2006 05:26 PM

No, I've never attempted at being tall, but i still failed at it.

Akira 11-09-2006 05:26 PM

I finally got my computer to recognize my bass plugged in, so if I can make anything good you guys might get to hear me play.
And then I'll get to leave MX forever, having brought shame on my family for generations.
So it goes as follows:

Super Solo artist > One Man Band > Solo artist > Band > Lowsound? :p
That actually really made me laugh. It is true, I suck.

I'd say that you gave it your all and you just couldn't do it.

I've finally got an adapter to record my bass now. I'm just facing troubles of being too loud. I'll be plugged in, when i play it's at a decent level, once i play what i recorded, it's distorted.

I still need to play around with it. Adobe > Audicity

My Interactive arts class is making us record a story using no words. And they expect us to use Audicity. Pfff, Adobe ftw.

Solder it to the bridge, or into the other ground wire going to the bridge.

Try turning down either the volume on your bass, or the recording level.

As long as I'm better than Lowsound.

I'm not really that awful, I am just not as good as a lot of the people on here.

One Groovin Clown 11-09-2006 05:33 PM

My bass is at the lowest it can be without being fully silent. I"m guessing that the recording levels need to be fixed. I've only played with it for 30 minutes seeing how i just got it last night.

It's kinda neat to record.

But you have a 7 string. That must mean you're the best!!!/

More strings=better player.
It's a scientific fact.

One Groovin Clown 11-09-2006 05:36 PM

I know how long you've been playing doesn't represent your talent level. But how long have you guys been playing bass for?

I'm nearly reaching the 3 year mark.

I'm close to the 5 year mark. I only started playing seriously when I joined this forum, though.

FunkMetalBass 11-09-2006 05:37 PM

Basically, I'm confused. I have two wires running from the battery. The black wire goes all the way to the output jack while the red wire goes through the preamp, and eventually emerges to the output jack as a red and green wire.

All three are soldered to different places on the output jack, so I have no clue which to cut. Should I just solder the black to the switch "in", then solder the switch "out" to the black's original position on the output jack?

Go into your volume control.

Options > Properties > Recording > Okay.

Now play with the line in or mic level (whichever you are using).

I think I'm a little over two. I think I got my bass late September 2004.
But for a while I was only playing pop-punk, and that doesn't count. So really I haven't been playing that long.

I got my first bass on June 12, 2002.

A little over 4 years here.

Cool man, thanks. Probably saved me 10 minutes of searching.

As of your soldering problems, try TalkBass.

They know what they're doing over there.

Almost five years, but not that serious. I'll get serious for a while and get decent, then I loose interest or I don't have time and I'll get crappy again. Right now I don't play much because guitar is taking up all of my time.

Garr, this class is ridiculous. I'm sitting here waiting for my program to get marked. I'm completely done and can leave once the TA takes a look at it, but she's not even in the room.

Someone's getting a terrible report rating.

That sucks, report her to your prof. What class?

Spaceman Spiff 11-09-2006 05:52 PM

I won't say that those first few years of bass playing didn't help me get where I am, because they did, but I was mostly just learning songs here and there and jamming out punk songs with a friend of mine.

It's the last two years that I've really improved my playing, though.

Computing 120
Entry level computer programming. I was forced to due to the program I'm in.

She's making us do the evaluation form for her teaching. So she has to be out of the room. Thing is that she hasn't come back.

She's already got a bad grade by me and 3 other people.

I used to know a bit of programming, made a cool little thing in gr 10 programming class (got 110% on it). I hated the teacher so I quite taking it. I want to learn some more web design. I wouldn't mind switching to graphic and web design next year, but that would require switching schools and what not.

Web design seems like a fairly easy job.

As long as you know what you're doing and have some level of creativity. You can get paid for easy work.
