TYPUNK 10-11-2005 05:36 PM

wow chellos.

Alright lets name all the band members and any changes that happened.

Original Band Formation:

DeusExMachina 10-11-2005 05:40 PM

Yeah, cellos. I play cello, and I love it, it's a wonderful instrument. I really like how the arrangement is going so far.

Originally:
Guitar/vocals: Syd Barrett
Bass: Roger Waters
Keyboard: Rick Wright
Drums: Nick Mason.

Then they add Gilmour. Shortly after, they drop Barrett. Then, in 1984, they drop Waters. And that's it.

MBS 10-11-2005 05:42 PM

Syd Barret
Nick Mason
Rick Wright
Roger Waters

David Gilmour
Nick Mason
Rick Wright
Roger Waters

David Gilmour
Nick Mason
Rick Wright

The last one is the most recent.

TYPUNK 10-11-2005 05:47 PM

My favourite part is "Goodbye Blue Sky".

robo2448 10-11-2005 06:11 PM

Wright was kicked out of the band during The Wall and Final Cut period.

Edit- He was reinstated by Gilmour when they reformed for MLOR

Same, that might be my fave song on the album.

Kami_kam_guitar_girl 10-11-2005 08:15 PM

I have Dark Side of the Moon, and Echos. I love all the songs on Dark Side of The Moon, and someone just coppied me Echos so i have not listened to all of it yet... but Hey You has been a favote (i really suck at spelling...) for a while. A long with Wish you were here!!! Pink Floyd is definiatly a favrite (i spell it differently each time...) artist of mine!!!

Dragon_Prince 10-12-2005 06:21 AM

Does anyone know the song, ''the tide is turning'' it's the last song on a live PF cd I'm listenign to right now(it's the wall live and this song is isntead of outside the wall)

temporary 10-12-2005 02:28 PM
I'm writing an arrangement of Wish You Were Here for four cellos. It's fun. Hopefully, I can get people in my section to perform it with me, and then record it.
Hey, that sounds cool. Please post it if you record it.

standard 10-12-2005 02:29 PM

Could it be off of Is Anybody Out There? .. That was their live album of The Wall.

*Sort of rant*

How can people say the albums without Waters weren't very lyrically inclined.. They weren't as dark as the usual Floyd, but they were **** good.

Listen to Lost For Words, On The Turning Away, or Sorrow. Sorrow is.. Wow.

Now, I agree, these aren't like The Final Cut's lyrics, Green Is The Colour", "Childhoods End", etc. they are no where near as deep and dark, but they are good lyrics. Maybe that's why people dislike them.. Because it isn't as dark and deep, but wheter you like the new stuff or not, you have to admit that Gilmour did a fine job lyrically.. And the music. Wow. It's so complex.. Listen to Marooned.. Grammer for Instrumental Of The Year anyone? Sure!

On the Turning Away has great lyrics, as do High Hopes and Sorrow. The Division Bell has some really good guitar. On the Turning Away and Sorrow also have amazing guitar solos.

-Listy- 10-12-2005 03:18 PM

So i just stuck The Division Bell on as its been a while, and my god, its incredible, such a great spacy feeling with lots of beautiful guitar, definately one of my faves, i dont think it suffers because theres no Roger Waters either.

I've got a bike. You can ride it if you like.
It's got a basket, a bell that rings and
Things to make it look good.
I'd give it to you if I could, but I borrowed it.

That'd be awesome. I already have it, but many people don't, and it truly is one of Floyd's better albums.
