I get to see Blonde Redhead tomorrow night, which is sure to be a good time.

bleep_bloop 09-09-2007 01:58 PM

so i downloaded Lost in translation as an avi file, but it doesnt have any sound. is that a codec problem or is the file just ****ed up.

sexymuffin 09-09-2007 02:04 PM

could be a codec problem

play it with VLC

The Antique 09-09-2007 02:05 PM

i own lost in translation.

sexymuffin 09-09-2007 02:07 PM

i haven't seen that movie yet :(

i was thinking of watching the departed today

Tangy zizzle 09-09-2007 02:09 PM

Both overrated to be fair.

The Antique 09-09-2007 02:09 PM

dude what about BORAT

sexymuffin 09-09-2007 02:14 PM

hahaha funny story me and this kid were talking and he was just like "I AM VERY EXCITE" out of no where and i was like "WOWIE WOWIE" and then he was all "KING OF THE CASTLE"

ahahaha
Both overrated to be fair.
if you are trying to imply the departed isn't tight then you are wrong

but for reference, what are some movies you would recommend?

Glitterati 09-09-2007 02:20 PM

Lost In Translation is a nice film but I don't know if I could watch it over and over again like some films.

I like the soundtrack.

sexymuffin 09-09-2007 02:26 PM

sharkboy and lava girl is probably one of the funniest movies i've seen

Tangy zizzle 09-09-2007 02:37 PM

Lucky I wasn't. It's a good film, sure, but not wholly deserving of all the praise it got.

Last two I watched were Devils Rejects and True Romance. The former = best horror movie released this decade and one of the best ever, the latter = pretty good watch.

sexymuffin 09-09-2007 02:41 PM

i read devil's rejects and thought devil's backbone which was a way better film

Thanks 09-09-2007 02:42 PM

The Departed got a lot of praise because Scorcese has been shafted over and over again. I mean, it was his best in a while. Still, a lot of the praise actually comes from Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, and GoodFellas. But those are some of the best movies ever made.

sexymuffin 09-09-2007 02:43 PM

idk i thought gangs of new york was pretty solid and the aviator was alright

but i mean the departed was just all star cast and a great story there's no getting around this

Six Foot Revolver 09-09-2007 02:44 PM

Is The Departed that re-make of Infernal Affairs?

sexymuffin 09-09-2007 02:45 PM

Infernal affairs?

edit: hmm if you imdb it it shows up as the departed

bleep_bloop 09-09-2007 02:46 PM
Is The Departed that re-make of Infernal Affairs?

yeah
I may check it out then because Infernal Affairs was quality.

AlienEater 09-09-2007 04:10 PM

Infernal Affairs was great. The sequels weren't as good, especially 3.

I have The Departed but haven't watched it yet

CatfishJones 09-09-2007 05:22 PM

the departed was really good. infernal affairs kicks *** too.

Montana 09-09-2007 07:28 PM

I still haven't seen Infernal Affairs but I saw The Departed in the theater.

The intro for Lost in Translation is nice.

Liebensaft 09-09-2007 07:31 PM

My favorite movie is Gigli. The Jennifer Lopez/Ben Affleck synergy is just amazing.

A Dead Modernist 09-09-2007 08:29 PM

Latest movies ive seen:

Noi the Albino
Julien Donkey-Boy
Being John Malkovich

All were in the 9.5-10 range.

YourBiggestFan 09-09-2007 09:37 PM

I want to see Lost in Translation just because it has My Bloody Valentine songs in it. Is this a good idea?

Anus Invader 09-09-2007 09:37 PM

yes

Apocalyptic Raids 09-09-2007 09:39 PM

I like Lost In Translation. Alot.

and The Departed is pretty good too, although it was very.. fast.

Kage 09-09-2007 09:41 PM

When is Scorsese not fast?

niobium 09-09-2007 09:49 PM

taxi driver

Hedgedive 09-09-2007 11:21 PM

"oh man I can't wait for Robert DeNiro to shoot someone he's a fucking maniac"

^my thought process through like the entire movie (in a good way)

Kage 09-10-2007 12:23 AM

That's kind of stupid, tbh.

margin0walker 09-10-2007 12:27 AM

i love the cinematography in that movie, like the shot where he's talking on the phone and it shows that hallway (or something like that)

Kage 09-10-2007 12:28 AM

The movie is basically perfect.

AlienEater 09-10-2007 10:46 AM

definitely

sweboy 09-10-2007 01:47 PM

Anxious 09-10-2007 01:51 PM

sweboy 09-10-2007 02:02 PM
