I just been to HMV with £20, and walked out with:

Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
Brave New World
Live At Donnington
£2.03

That lot should have cost me something like £45-£50, so I'm well chuffed.
Iron Maiden have confirmed they are to release their classic track ‘The Trooper’ as a single to precede their hugely-anticipated headline appearances at the Reading & Leeds Festivals and their double live album ‘Death On The Road’. The single will be released on 15th August as a maxi CD, Limited Edition blue 7' vinyl and 12' picture discs, all featuring a live recording of ‘The Trooper’, taken from their forthcoming new album/DVD 'Death On The Road', plus previously unavailable live tracks recorded on the 7th June 2005 at Reykjavik Egishorllin Stadium.

‘The Trooper’, taken from the classic Iron Maiden album ‘Piece Of Mind’ was originally released as a single in July 1983 and reached number 12. It has long been a live favourite and is a particular highlight of the current tour which is based around the band’s first four albums. Iron Maiden's last single 'The Number Of The Beast' entered the UK chart at No 3 when it was released early this year.

The Reading and Leeds appearances will complete Iron Maiden’s busy summer touring schedule that includes top billing at major European Festivals and their own headlining stadium dates like their record breaking show in Gothenburg at the 55,000 capacity Ullevi Stadium that sold out in a mere two and a half hours. Just prior to Reading and Leeds the band will be joining Black Sabbath on Ozzfest in North America, plus playing plus playing sold out gigs in Denver, Quebec and Toronto.

On August 29th Iron Maiden release ‘Death On The Road’, the double live album recorded in Dortmund Germany during their 2003 ‘Dance Of Death’ world tour.

The single ‘The Trooper’ is released on August 15th in the following three formats:-

7” Limited Edition Blue Vinyl
The Trooper (Live 2003)
C/w ‘Another Life (Live 2005)

12” Picture Disc Limited Edition in die cut sleeve
The Trooper (Live 2003)
The Trooper (original version)
C/w Murders in the Rue Morgue

Enhanced Maxi CD
Audio Tracks
Trooper (Live 2003)
Trooper (original version)
Prowler (live 2005)

Videos
Trooper (Live 2003)
Trooper (original promo)

Iron Maiden have also just announced that they are to play a special benefit concert in aid of former drummer Clive Burr MS Trust Fund at London’s Hammersmith Carling Apollo on Friday 2nd September with Special Guests PIG IRON and VOODOO SIX.
were you guys aware of this?

Lord Abortion 08-09-2005 04:18 AM

yeah, the trooper single will be much in the same vein as the beast one... I hope it tops the british charts and murders everything in it's path

that would be awesome :thumb:

EdwardTheGreat 08-09-2005 06:40 AM

NOTB was 2nd or 3rd in England. If it had been No.1 it would have been the 1000th number one. Wouldnt that be great! Still this will hopefully get there. I've got my 3 ordered.
were you guys aware of this?
Yep, pissed me right off. Tickets went on sale on the 1st, I left for holiday very early morning on the 1st so missed the opportunity to buy one. I'm still searching around though.

Brew 08-10-2005 01:35 PM

So I'm listening to the show that Maiden did from Sweden a few weeks/months ago and it sounds like they're really good on this tour. Anyone who's seeing them is very lucky.

I'm just annoyed that I can't afford to see them at this years Reading festival.

/me waits for Gur to point and laugh

Gur is around, I've spoken to him a few times.

Here it is

Note - you'll need WinRar to extract it.

Also, the first two tracks are just the Swedish Radio Station rambling on about the show.

Enjoy.

Credit goes to a dude from Voltage forums who uploaded it.

i know this may seem like a stupid question but i've never gotten into iron maiden and just want to know:

just how heavy is their music?

I have a Zip file of the songs from NOTB onwards, I'll upload it for you.

Deth 08-11-2005 05:49 AM
Not very. It's very melodic and Bruce isn't a singer suited to really heavy music.

rik 08-11-2005 05:51 AM

So, the cheapest I can find tickets for the Hammersmith gig is around £80. I'm considering getting one, but fuck me, that is a lot of money.

Deth 08-11-2005 05:55 AM

Yeah, that's a lot.

Any reason why it's so expensive?

crag 08-11-2005 05:59 AM
I have a Zip file of the songs from NOTB onwards, I'll upload it for you.
that would be great, thanks
Yeah, that's a lot.

me thinks its because its dedicated to clive burr

/is happy the threads moving again/

Brew 08-11-2005 06:01 AM
Yeah, that's a lot.

All ticket/merchandise/beer money etc...is going to the Clive Burr Trust Fund that they setup. Apparently no-one is getting in for free, not even people with VIP passes.

Edit:

hxxp://s59.yousendit.com/d.php?id=TM5Y8L9YUNKO2TB9T2B4BP4W0

Hallowed from the Ullevi Show.

rik 08-11-2005 06:23 AM
Yeah, that's a lot.

For the reasons been mentioned, also because It is a pretty small venue for a band like Maiden to be playing, so that would make the price go up.

Deth 08-11-2005 07:05 AM

Well, wouldn't they raise more money by doing a larger venue for less money?

crag 08-11-2005 07:14 AM
Well, wouldn't they raise more money by doing a larger venue for less money?
i think they are doing hammersmith because it was a place they performed at with clive so it has some sort of sentimental value or something like that.

crag 08-11-2005 10:42 AM
Iron Maiden are an incredible live act, something which American rock fans and the media are currently being reminded of with Maiden's blistering performances on Ozzfest where fan and media reaction alike has been close to ecstatic!

Now Iron Maiden have just been honoured with the announcement that they will be inducted on the Rock Walk of Fame in Hollywood.

All six members of Iron Maiden will have their hand prints immortalized in cement at the honoured ceremony at ROCKWALK which is located at 7425 Sunset Blvd on Friday 19th August at 7pm, when Hollywood Blvd will be closed down for the presentation. Other inductees of Rock Walk include Jimmy Page, Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Queen and Jimi Hendrix.
about time

rik 08-11-2005 02:58 PM
about time
That is great news.

Other news, i've just paid £82 for my ticket to see them at Hammersmith Apollo. It is a lot of money, but this really was a gig I just couldn't miss out on and i'm gonna get there extra early to get right to the front.

axxedude13 08-11-2005 04:08 PM
