Apocalyptic Raids 07-25-2005 07:37 AM
warlocks man

apocalyptic, how long have you been playing ?
i was in a band right away when i picked up guitar,
we just played TNT :p
About 2 yrs 3 months. I meant that my guitar skills wouldn't up to par for a thrash band. :)

what?!!!!!!
rubbish! your more than ready!
i havent hit my second year yet ( this september itl be 2 )

just work on your picking chops,
cuz if i can write thrash riffs at ridiculous speeds, so can you cuz you have more experience,

a trick to improve your picking chops, play along with Mater of Puppets, then move on to harder stuff

pick one note as fast as you can for one solid minute without stopping, when you feel burning, thats lactic acid, push through it dont be a *****, do this for 1 or 2 weeks, you'l be alot faster, ive done it and its helped alot :thumb:
sounds like a little kid show on PBS with aliens that teach you how to read.......or something
 Interesting concept there

Rising 07-25-2005 04:30 PM

today i got this megadeth album : greatest hits back to start
its the one with a nuclear explosion

FatalEnergy 07-25-2005 04:35 PM

ehh.....I hate Compilation albums. You should have got an actual album. Any one of the first 5 or 6. Especially Rust in Peace

NP: Overkill - Overkill II

Rising 07-25-2005 04:38 PM

i dunno man, sometimes compilations are best, especially cuz for this one, their was a poll on the site on which songs would go on greatest hits, to make sure none of the crap ones got on, and this is my first megadeth cd, this is a good ****in band

RCA 07-25-2005 05:24 PM

That Megadeth compilation you have, IMO, is not very good. It doesn't even have Take No Prisoners, My Last Words ( ), Good Mourning/Black Friday ( ), and a HUGE disappointment:

IT DOESN'T HAVE TORNADO OF SOULS. x 135426357366744^2432434.89

The fans that voted for the tracklist that that album has are indeed huge fuckwits.

RavenousMetalist87 07-25-2005 05:50 PM

I can offficially blast my thrash metal collection now that I have a car kit adapter for my IPod and CD player.

/is teh c00lest!

Just got Phoenix Rising. Boing!
Just got Phoenix Rising. Boing!
How much was it?

Terrorzone 07-25-2005 06:28 PM

7.99. Gotta love that used section.

RCA 07-25-2005 06:30 PM
7.99. Gotta love that used section.
Nice find! All of the used sections where I live are crap, but there are second-hand shops that more than make up for it.

Terrorzone 07-25-2005 06:33 PM

Haha, yeah, I love mine. I just found The Somberlaine and Verus the World for the same price.

I think the best thing I found in a mainstream media store's used bin was The Ultra-Violence on tape for $2.99.

Terrorzone 07-25-2005 06:37 PM

Thats pretty good. Theres no real underground media store within 30 minutes of me. But I'm getting my permit within the next 2 months.

wow, you really need to hear all those songs. Goodmourning/black friday is one of the coolest megadeth songs ever.

Here is a suggestion, go buy Rust in Peace. It's a must for any Megadeth fan.

Problem with that is you'll only ever be lucky enough once in a hundred times to find a bands best material. I can't say in words the greatness of Good Mourning/Black Friday, it's such an essential listen.

NP: Sodom - Marines

RavenousMetalist87 07-25-2005 07:36 PM

Welcome back, ThrashMaster

Yes, Good Mourning/Black Friday is ultimately one of the best Megadeth songs ever written :)

RCA 07-25-2005 07:36 PM

Andy, welcome back!

Nice avatar by the way. I'm seeing them soon. :D

EDIT: This is RCA, I got my name changed.

Rising 07-25-2005 07:38 PM

yea i hear rust in peace is really good

right now im listenin to sweating bullets, which is awesome

ThrashMaster27 07-25-2005 07:40 PM

Haha, I figured it'd be you actually.

I thank you comrades! nice to see I get remembered. Seen as how I'm here has anybody heard the new Obituary album? I know it's not Thrash, but it's close enough.

I have.

It's better than Back From The Dead, I'll tell you that. It seems like a mix of The End Complete and World Demise, with a little hint of that Slowly We Rot frenzy. The slower bludgeoning riffs are in command of this album.

ThrashMaster27 07-25-2005 07:52 PM

Hmmm interesting. I heard Insane and it instantly reminded me of The End Complete. I'll probably end up buying it, I always do.

I've been listening to M-16 and it reminds me of Exodus' Tempo of the ****ed in respect to it being very midpaced and far off the artists earlier work. Both still entertain me though, aside from songs that you want to speed up. Genocide comes to mind on this one. I was listening to the intro and shouting "Go faster! for **** sakes, go faster!"

Anyway.

Corporal Compendia 07-25-2005 07:59 PM

I haven't seen Razor mentioned for like... 2 pages. So I'm mentioning them!

Razor rules... I'm currently listening to Open Hostility. I love the opening riff of I Disagree.

FatalEnergy 07-25-2005 08:07 PM

I need Open Hostility, but no one on Soulseek seems to have it.

I will also praise the song Good Mourning/Black Friday as it is one of the best songs ever written. Even though My Last Words is my all time favorite Megadeth song.

OH....by the way, Gigantour is tommorrow. I'll post the setlist of thiers if I can remember it. I heard that they are opening with Set the World Afire. I hope they do.

RCA 07-25-2005 08:13 PM

Road Gunner > I Disagree :p

RavenousMetalist87 07-25-2005 08:39 PM

I need more Razor. My friend is supposed to get me Violent Restitution if it's to be found at Amoeba >.>;

I don't care if it's used or new. I want it...lol

BassMasterMike88 07-25-2005 10:18 PM

You can never have enough Razor, to be honest i think they are worthy of the main stage at Ozzfest along side Maiden and BLS and such. But if not that i think they would make a WAY better stand in for Maiden then Velvet Revovler could.

RCA 07-25-2005 10:22 PM

Ozzfest, no. Razor are too good for that trendalicious corporate bastardization of live metal.

RavenousMetalist87 07-25-2005 10:25 PM
Ozzfest, no. Razor are too good for that trendalicious corporate bastardization of live metal.
What about Wacken? Wait. I think they played there already

It'd be really crazy if a crapload of our favorite thrash bands actually played at my school's coffeehouses.

That would pwn \m/>_<\m/

I want to be in a thrash band now

Perhaps not Ozzfest, since they let Mudvayne on the bandwagon i question their taste alittle, but who in this thread wouldn't love to see the most badass speed/thrash band to this date live in concert?

Thrash and coffee, a recipe for destruction. :D

I'm still not satisfied with my avatar/usertitle combo. I think since I'm the resident Mekong Delta whore, I should do something in that area.

RavenousMetalist87 07-25-2005 10:33 PM

Well, when I went to Ozzfest, I'm sure the older crowd would be more accepting of Razor. The newer crowd like all the kiddies into the "core" stuff, they'd be like "get these old geezers off the stage!"

However, I'd piss my pants if I saw Razor or any other thrash band live before I die.

I WANT TO SEE DESTRUCTION! grr...

Ozzfest's lineup last year was pretty much cooler than this years. I won't ever forget seeing such a great mainstage lineup (minus SJR)

Lol. Ryan, you're one crazy thrasher. That's the spirit though.

As for coffee and thrash, load me up on just a mocha frappacino and a Pepsi and ****!

I can't control myself for the rest of the day  Perfect idea before I go see another good heavy band.

EDIT: Speaking of Razor, I'm listening to Nowhere Fast as we speak

You question a thier taste a little? Dude, fucking Will Smith is playing Ozzfest. It is the just about the lamest tour ever. Gay Nu-metal, and even gayer hardcore emo is all that is there. Metalcore I choose not to even acknowledge, because I find it to be the dumbest thing......be metal or don't be metal, don't be halfass metal. Black Sabbath is just about retarded, because they played the same setlist for the past 8 years and Ozzy can't sing anymore. The only thing that saves the tour from being 100% crap is Maiden

Yeah, at least Slayer and Priest played last year......but, the rest was still really crappy
Yeah, at least Slayer and Priest played last year......but, the rest was still really crappy
I guess you could say that. The only 2 bands on the Second Stage that really impressed me were Lamb of God and Lacuna Coil. Everyone else made me feel like just lying down and taking a nap XD

Flame me for my comments, but I guess it's probably that weird musical taste of mine.

Priest really were good though. I enjoyed their set. My cousin was all crazy for them because he saw them when he was my age at the time way back in the 80s. This was like a dream for him because of the Reunion.

WILL SMITH IS PLAYING AT OZZFEST!! BLASTHMY!!! Keep in mind Black Label Society is there with Maiden to attempt to save the ozzday. but I'm sure that we can agree the second stage is pure nu-metal shit and knowing they allowed so much crap on the line up, it'll be hard to convince me to EVER attend again, unless Razor is playing
