I like when they do that on The Thin Ice and Mother. Both are such awesome songs, but are too short and so underrated.
I love when the solos hit on both of those songs. It's just perfect timing, and they're both so emotional. Especially on The Thin Ice in the movie, when they start showing the blood as soon as the solo happens. THAT gives me goosebumps everytime.
Pink Floyds Drummer = ???
<--

TYPUNK 10-10-2005 06:17 PM
Nick Mason was their drummer, and was the only one who was always a member of the band.
I thought David Gilmour was always in it. I knew Roger Waters wasnt becasue he left or w/e.

standard 10-10-2005 06:28 PM

No! Gilmour came in as a replacement for Syd.
I don't think that Waters sung as the Judge
I am pretty sure it's him with some kind of effect.

TYPUNK 10-10-2005 06:31 PM

OH! Ok so I guess original band was roger waters, syd barret and nick mason. then syd left and david gilmour came in. i think im forgeting some1 =/

Riva 10-10-2005 06:32 PM

Waters sang as the judge, he just growled. I can emulate the same growl exactly, minus the accent, of course. :p

Waters has a good range, but Gilmour's is far better. And Gilmour has a far higher falsetto, whereas Water's only has that high pitched scream. That being said, I think Waters had the more emotional, cultured tone, and Gilmour had the smoother, melodic tone.

BludgeonySteve 10-10-2005 07:52 PM

It would seem kind of weird when Pink Floyd performs the Wall for Rodger to be the judge. He's Pink throughout the whole thing and it would probably throw me off. On the Live in Berlin performance with all of those special guests, I think someone else sings it.

Rick Wright, the keyboardist. He has't technically been in the whole time b/c he got fired by Waters/left on own accord/was in Greece vacationing during a recording session (no one seems to actually know) but he was hired as a session musician for the Wall tour, and ended up being the only 'member' to make any money off it (the others went bankrupt because they spent their own money  ) Gilmour re-memberized him when Waters left.

Well, in some of the other later shows on the Wall tour, he actually hired a bassist so he could dedicate himself to acting out the various characters.

Did anyone else notice on Live8 the cameras kind of "forgot" about Rick? There was three shots of him, and one was simply because there was a group hug. :-/

Yea, I noticed they didn't show him very much. I was a little disappointed, because he's already so unnoticed as it is. But he's still awesome :)

I hated that :( Wright is the man. Oh, and I nommed you for User Deserving Modship in the Awards thread :thumb: :smoke:

Wow, it feels good to use that old pair of smileys again... it's been a while, that used to be my gimmick sort of.

Riva 10-10-2005 08:08 PM

I love his solo stuff. Do you guys have either Wet Dream or Broken China?

BigTrav415 10-10-2005 08:13 PM

I don't have any of the Floyd members' solo stuff...

np: Pigs on the Wing 1&2 w/solo :dreamylook:

magicbus 10-10-2005 08:20 PM

The only solo Floyd album I have is Gilmour's s/t. I'd like to hear some of Wright's stuff because I heard it was pretty good.

Oh it is. Probably my favourite solo stuff. I have Dave, Syd, and Roger's solo stuff, as well. And by the way: :lol::lol: at your Graduation pic, Aaron. Sorry, you are the opposite of what I expected. :)

Avatar. Change. Now. :(

And (noob question) what the hell is s/t? I've seen it in the CR thread a lot too.

Lunch 10-10-2005 08:25 PM

Shorthand for Self-titled album.

It wasn't the musicianforums chat, it was the CR regulars chat. Much more friendly and happy.

Why did he name that album thus?

Its cringeworthy.

He still rules.

I hate they way they did that on DSOT, too. I mean, the barely show him when he's singing or soloing. I want to check out some of his solo stuff, though.

There was the point when they were both in the band though...

It was very breif, though, only about a month I think.

standard 10-11-2005 03:08 PM

Yes, at one point they were both in it.. Gilmour was there to replace Syd even at that point.

During the time, Syd would stop playing his guitar and singing on stage, so they had to do something.

Eventually they just dumped him.

DeusExMachina 10-11-2005 05:31 PM

I'm writing an arrangement of Wish You Were Here for four cellos. It's fun. Hopefully, I can get people in my section to perform it with me, and then record it.
