For those saying Waters' voice sounds like crap you obviously haven't seen his newest dvd In the Flesh, he sounds very good.

That was from over 5 years ago. A person's voice can change quite a bit in 5 years. |

i think his voice was just bad in that one performance |

Way to make assumptions. I have heard it and he sounds terrible on WYWH. |
Roger's never been a very technicallt competent singer, but in a bob dylan kinda way i've always foud his voice fairly pleasant.

I do too back in his early years. But at one point in time after he left Floyd, he somehow messed up his voice, making him sound terrible. |
I prefer Gilmour to Waters when talking about singing ability.
|
Totally. Gilmour is one of the finest rock singers of all time, but Roger Waters really never was that good of a singer. Sure, Shine On is one of the greatest vocal performances in any Pink Floyd song, but that's one of the few exceptions...
|
Waters can't sing for shit. But he's an incredible lyricist. Possibly the best ever IMO.
|
Remember when I said I was gonna make that mix CD? I can't find any of my CDs, and although I have them on my old computer so I could YSI them to myself, my little sister uses that computer now, and won't let me get on  Right now I'm just listening to that Pigs on the Wing solo... over and over again. It's amazing :D

Waters can't sing for shit? What are you talking about? Have you ever actually listened to Shine On, Welcome to the Machine or Nobody Home? |

I agree in certain respects, I think his voice isn't amazing, but the amount of soul and emotion he puts into it makes up for it :D |
Anyone reading Nick Mason's book?
Anyone reading Nick Mason's book?
I read it in early September I think. |

I just ordered it on Amazon, hopefully it's as good as everyone says it is. |
I like Waters singing on Sheep. Nobody Home has incredible singing. Just fits the music perfectly. I think Roger actually had better range than Gilmour, but I just prefer Gilmour's voice for some reason.
|
Waters having better range? I disagree with that, I have heard Gilmour sing a wide range of notes, while Roger seems to try to stick in his comfort zone.

I don't know. I always thought Gilmour had more range, but after hearing the scream in Careful With That Axe, Eugene I've kind of changed my mind. Of course I don't know if you factor screams like that in when your deciding how much range they have. Gilmour's voice has also stayed pretty much the same and is still great, whereas Roger's voice is kind of shot. Not bad, but Roger's voice just isn't what it used to be. |
Thats an inward scream he does in Careful With That Axe, Eugene. It can be used to make very low/high pitches. But it can also damage your voice if you do it too often/wrong. I really wouldnt consider it part of his range, seeing that it is only useful when a scream is needed, and not regular singing.
Hmmm I think I am seeing a connection here |
I like it when they incorporate both of they're voices ("Comfortably Numb").

I like when they do that on The Thin Ice and Mother. Both are such awesome songs, but are too short and so underrated. |

I like when the electric guitar kicks in on "Mother." :) /starts to air guitar |

/starts to air guitar
That's such an emotional solo. It's such a simple solo, but it's one of my all-time favorites from Gilmour. Gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. I like the extended version of Mother from Is There Anybody Out There: The Wall Live. |
What can I say? Pink Floyd rules, they are one of the greatest song writers of all time. Time is my favourite Pink Floyd song right not. I have the wall albulm and Darkside of the Moon CD. I have a Pink Floyd hat. Here is a pic of it ,

Nick Mason was their drummer, and was the only one who was always a member of the band. |

I don't think that Waters sung as the Judge |
