I don't mind the tele headstock especially with that nice grain on it, but my favourite fender headstock is the slim strat ones they use on the americans. Not a fan of the beastly 70's CBS ones.

EDIT: Learning Combustion by Meshuggah for the lulz.

So, I've just made the most awesome excel table for my thesis. A massive list of note frequencies with corresponding time period, number of samples based on given sampling rate, sampling error due to fixed-point arithmetic rounding and frequency offset due to error, and provides automatic values of synthesizer voice size in bytes for a 7 octave keyboard with maximum individual frequency error component.

....which would all be great, if it was 1981....

Sup the lod.

Sad But True 04-25-2011 05:45 PM

rofl I chuckled at excel. I genuinely can't think of anything more boring than spreadsheets.

Sup Zeke. I has mic this week so I'm going to try some melodies n shit for your song, after I've done Raayl's because I've already wrote lyrics for that one see.

CCR90 04-25-2011 06:51 PM

Yeah, it can be pretty dull - this was kinda fun though. Maybe because it was a weird thought experiment. Maybe because I'm a nerd.

Still, yeah - looking forward to seeing what you do with the track, man :)

Sad But True 04-27-2011 08:13 PM

Kicked in the face playing football, now have a gash on my face and a black eye but I got the head in and the ball away so it's all good. In other news I've broke my XLR cable so I'm trying to source one without having to go to the practice studio, which is proving impossible.

The_Mop 04-29-2011 04:12 PM

Ok, Lod, so - today I've had the most conflicting experience ever.

I just got my dissertation project working - the processor system, that's been sitting here for months not working, I've finally figured out what was wrong.

What sucks is - it's a week till the thesis is in. It can still be worked on and demonstrated a while after then, but I won't get to write about it unless it's done before.

So basically - VERY happy that the processor works, but extremely angry at the fact that my supervisor hadn't spotted the fact that TWO LINES of code made it work, rather than leading me down a blind alley thinking it was a hardware issue.

And now comes the dilemma - I've got a working processor that I can rattle through the whole testing strategy and add some functionality that I can write about, but that might tradeoff the time I actually have to write about it.

I've never felt so happy yet so angry about the same thing. I decided beer should decide for me.

I think there may be a few all nighters ahead :P

jaklyons 04-29-2011 05:10 PM
I decided beer should decide for me.
A foolproof plan, I reckon.

The_Mop 04-29-2011 05:43 PM

Indeed. Drinking more beer whilst extending the address bus as we speak :P

I told you I'd post tracks so here's one

Mop what other option do you have besides writing about your robot that you just recently got working

Sad But True 04-29-2011 07:00 PM

Zeke? Drinking beer?

The Black Fist 04-29-2011 07:24 PM

SBT? not listenin my trax?

motogrifo 04-29-2011 07:32 PM

hi gice

I won't be going out to drink tonight cause my stock market teacher just decided we'll have a test tomorrow morning, who the fuck does that?

Sad But True 04-29-2011 08:07 PM
SBT? not listenin my trax?
Lies. I did listen, I'm really digging your tone on the lower notes but not so much on the higher stuff. Is that a Whammy pedal I be hearing? I liked the lead guitar ideas just wished you'd expanded more in that direction. I'll have another listen tomorrow and give some more in depth crit.

The Black Fist 04-29-2011 08:18 PM

I'm using the bender on my Vetta with an expression pedal. So basically yeah it's a whammy

what do you mean about the lead guitar

well yer, there's the problem - the deadline for the thesis is in a week, and I've almost completed my thesis...

..on the basis that it's not working. So yeah, I've gotta do a big re-write, but gotta see how far I can get with the hardware first :(

Also that track sounds awesome, but there's something horrendously wrong with that snare compression wise
Zeke? Drinking beer?
Yeah, I know I said a while ago I didn't use to drink - only really started drinking when I went to uni, didn't use to like the taste of beer but sorta developed a taste for it over the summer before uni. I blame Asahi.

Sad But True 04-30-2011 05:34 AM

The lead sounding riff over the first section.

Drums aren't as punchy as I'd personally like em, the snare sounds like an 8-bit sound effect of chopping a tree down.

Modern Iconoclast 05-01-2011 10:02 PM

It appears Osama bin Laden wasn't already dead after all, I'll be darned.

Aes820 05-02-2011 01:44 AM

I bet he regrets using his real address to register with PSN

Kuffuffled 05-02-2011 01:47 AM

lmao. Weren't they using PS2 consoles to build missiles? Recently sega cartridges apparently. Smart going discontinued

Sad But True 05-02-2011 09:50 AM

Bought another 7 string in case mine goes at a gig, pretty fly deal too: £250 for an RG7321 isn't bad, but it also comes with 2 swineshead venom pickups so it's pretty epic imo.

Or buying that iPhone.

Squirrel 05-02-2011 11:52 AM

That's at least half a dozen people i've seen or heard say the PSN thing.

Sad But True 05-02-2011 12:00 PM

Doesn't get any funnier does it? And it wasn't funny in the first place.

Blue_Moon 05-02-2011 12:13 PM

the inital ps3 thing wasnt even funny

the whole thing got out of hand 20 seconds after i initially seen the news, its nuts, not particularly into all the celebrating of this death either

Aes820 05-02-2011 05:57 PM

Aw, it made me lol.
Was funnier than the Hide and Seek champion one, anyway.

Sad But True 05-04-2011 08:32 AM

The production on Tesseract's début is phenomenal. I liked them anyway but this is just a cracking cd.

The_Mop 05-05-2011 11:48 PM

So yeah. Been doing an all nighter to get my thesis done. Bleh.

Sad But True 05-06-2011 05:57 AM

Lame dude. When it's due?

I was tracking some vocals the other day for Raayls song and I started coughing up like a mother fucker. This can't be good. I've had this fucking cough for like a month now but when I was singing it just got worse. wtf Lod.

Also new 7 string is ace. Can't believe it's taken me this long to buy an Ibanez, I've wanted one for years.

The_Mop 05-07-2011 10:33 AM

Was due yesterday. Got it in with pretty good shape, but was kinda worried about page count because the uni's guidelines aren't clear (as in, depending on where you read them, they completely contradict one another)...

Took an hour to print out one copy. \m/

And yeah, 7 string ibanez's are ace. Had mine since 2007, and I've never really wanted another guitar since.

The_Mop 05-09-2011 07:52 AM

Did I kill the 'Lod with my dissertation? :(

Or is everyone now having too much fun in the new found vanwarplod?
