Any of you live near a lake?
http://science.howstuffworks.com/lake-nyos2.htm |
We live in a temperate climate, bro. The changing seasons would create changes in water temperatures which would tempt the gases out in a gradual manner. Think of the change in the temperature as a hand swirling the water round. /96% for Geography

Stop not scaring people Aaron. |
so just paid $145 for not voting in the local council election last year
i disagree with the entire process and I am becoming increasingly critical and bitter regarding the government soon i'll be one of those old men who whinge all the time |
just donkey vote if you dont agree
|
Yeah, at the end of the day that's pretty much the option.
I heard on the radio the other day, there's discussion of giving 16-17 year olds the vote, but making it optional for that age range rather than compulsory. I was going to jump on how retarded it was before I heard that it was optional, then I thought, hmm, maybe not such a bad idea if it's optional. |
not many 16 or 17 year olds wouldnt have much of an idea in which way they would tend to vote poltically i reckon
|
Most wouldn't, but there's always a few bright sparks. There's plenty of people over 18 who couldn't have less of a clue either but we force their vote in.
|
in my eyes, the biggest flaw with such a democracy is that a ridiculous percentage of the population has little or no education in politics. power to the idiot masses, no wonder politicians spend more time trying to curry favour and preserve self image instead of making useful policies
i always donkey vote I just genuinely forgot last year because I was stoned :/ |
a more pertinent point than mine Haz. agreed.
@ Gas - of course but as a generality |
The problem arises in that if you don't let everyone have the vote, you end up with taxation without representation, which means you'll have a population giving up their money to a government who's activities they have no say in.
You can give everyone the option to vote but not force them, like in America, but it doesn't guarantee any improvement in the process, ie; America. |
I can only imagine how much money they make off people who are apathetic to the voting process, whether for their own personal reasons or sheer laziness. If I didn't pay, the RTA were going to cancel my licence so thats a hell of an incentive right there for people to pay up.
The population shouldn't be punished for being disrespectful to the flawed election system. They have it perfectly rigged to extort as much money out of the population as legally possible and theres not a damn thing you can do about it. Of course, I wouldn't want us to live in an authoritarian state where only a select few have a say in the decisions that are made with no chance of change but this is just as frustrating in its own way. And come on who the **** knows anything about the Wagga council I don't know any of the representatives around here or what park they want to build another block of toilets in or they where they wanna build another roundabout **** 'em |
