That's not funny because The Carpenters really are better than Metallica. :p

Woodstock 10-16-2004 10:20 AM

How about them Doobie Brothers?

slowhand 10-16-2004 10:22 AM

I've been gone now for a while, has anything interesting happened while I was away?

And I finally have The Rolling Stones Rock And Roll Circus... I've only seen The Dirty Mac performing 'Yer Blues' (it's good, better than the albums), the Yoko Ono bit (it's a jam session with the Dirty Mac, but Yoko insists on wailing) and the Rolling Stones' performances, which are good.

I havn't seen The Who's performance, which is said to be the best in the show, but so far so good.

RockAndRoll 10-16-2004 10:24 AM

It shows them perform on the kids are alright DVD.

Woodstock 10-16-2004 10:24 AM

We can all agree on one thing, Yoko Ono has the worst singing voice ever.

slowhand 10-16-2004 10:32 AM

Singing voice? I thought she was dying.

Woodstock 10-16-2004 10:34 AM
Singing voice? I thought she was dying.
You mean, there is a difference. :amaze:

RockAndRoll 10-16-2004 10:36 AM

yoko ono is weird.

slowhand 10-16-2004 10:44 AM

I think that's why John liked her...

I always thought she looks like a monkey.

thickasabrick 10-16-2004 11:08 AM

anyone see yoko ono recently?
she seems to look exactly like jimmy page does.
actually i think shes better looking now than ever...poor jimmy aged terribly.

RockAndRoll 10-16-2004 12:01 PM

Jimmy page looks asian now.

a_minor_threat 10-16-2004 12:05 PM
Get R.E.M. - Automatic for the People, it's not classic rock but it's still really good.
I have the CD, and it's very enjoyable.

I'm also thinking about getting the Out Of Time CD.

I don't know if she looks better now than ever, I saw a picture of her in 68 where she looked ok, but then I saw she didn't shave her legs... then I was scared.

And yes, Jimmy Page is asian now, you wouldn't expect Mr. Wang to be part of one of history's greatest rock band, now would you?

Robert Plant aged worse, he looks like Mr. Potato Head.
Robert Plant aged worse, he looks like Mr. Potato Head.
Let that be a lesson to you. Don't do weird drugs for long periods of time.

RockAndRoll 10-16-2004 12:46 PM

Jimmy aged fine, he looks cool!

How's JPJ looking?

I know someone who was at a party with robert plant!

Dark Hero 10-16-2004 12:47 PM

lunch998 10-16-2004 12:51 PM

I think Eric Clapton aged really well. This was semi-pointless but I had to get 600.

Arucard 10-16-2004 12:54 PM

eddie van halen has ages ok considering he had cancer
but van halens new rip of shows suck belive me ive been to one

RockAndRoll 10-16-2004 12:54 PM

he did age really well, He looks good. He's very unassuming at his concerts too.
EDIT: clapton that is.

BludgeonySteve 10-16-2004 01:10 PM

Page does look asian :amaze:

Eddie's such an old burnt out poser... and he doesn't even look asian .

He could learn a thing or two from Page :)

1. Less distorion more time spent pollishing your songs.

2. 15 minutes of wank is only good when combine with a bow and a telecaster.

3. Asians ****ing look cool!

Badmoon 10-16-2004 01:40 PM

Yeah, but Eddie is better than Page.

BludgeonySteve 10-16-2004 01:42 PM

In technical skill (just playing fast) he is. And don't start some bull**** about Eddie somehow being as a good riff and melody writter because he's not.

But eddie zwns. Who can do the splits in mid air while jumping off of an amp and playing eruption? Huh huh?

thickasabrick 10-16-2004 01:48 PM

in my opinion page is the better songwriter, and not just for guitar. his technical skills arent nearly as refined as van halens though, but thats because he spent his time writing amazing songs, instead of practicing scales.

both are awesome, but i think van halen is kinda arrogant, page is pretty nice in his interviews.

Badmoon 10-16-2004 01:52 PM
In technical skill (just playing fast) he is. And don't start some bull**** about Eddie somehow being as a good riff and melody writter because he's not.
Well, I'm not talking about writing. And a guitar shouldn't have to lean back on "I'm a good riffer" as support. There's a million of um.

BludgeonySteve 10-16-2004 01:53 PM

Let's face it, Page sounds alot better.

But if you were only going on skill than sure, I agree.

thickasabrick 10-16-2004 01:55 PM

anyone ever see the interview where van halen was like...
(and im not quoting this exactly because its from memory)
"page was a good songwriter, but he plays guitar like a four year old with a broken hand"

that kinda made me mad, i wonder if page ever saw that.

Woodstock 10-16-2004 01:59 PM

Page>Van Halen

Broken Arrow 10-16-2004 02:03 PM

I missed the polls :upset:

Anyways the bands I wanted won.

Badmoon 10-16-2004 02:04 PM

It's not too far off though. Page was very sloppy live.

Could you send me that Live Grateful Dead album that has Wharf Rat? :)

Very early in the career he was sloppy, but toward the mid 70's he became very technical. At least, that is what I think.

He played the extended solo of Stairway pretty darn good though. :)

Badmoon 10-16-2004 02:16 PM
Could you send me that Live Grateful Dead album that has Wharf Rat? :)
Not now, I don't have it loaded and it's in my brother's car.

thickasabrick 10-16-2004 02:17 PM

i think he was sloppy because he was always messed up on drugs/alcohol, plus he tried improvising all his solos or even adding new parts to his songs on the spot. he didnt just stick to the same thing. when i try to do that, it sounds a lot worse than his does. if he wanted to just play the same solo/song over and over again the same way, im sure it would sound perfect.

Broken Arrow 10-16-2004 02:18 PM

How bout sending me some Werewolves of London?

BludgeonySteve 10-16-2004 02:18 PM
It's not too far off though. Page was very sloppy live.
So is Eddie. I'd say Eddie's even more sloppy.

ShineOnYouCrazyDiamond 10-16-2004 02:20 PM

badmoon and woodstock do you use the archive (llama) for dead shows?
