Aaron is bored.

I'm pretty tired but I've got stuff to do so I'll try and do it all before I sleep.
I kind of miss playing Sim City but I know I don't have time for that stuff anymore. |
I've got a poster for marketing due on Wednesday night [lol poster for uni] but I have no motivation to finish it.
|
Get your magic markers out.
|
Word.

Getting tired before midnight.
What's happening to me? |

You're turning into me.
(11:31:23 PM) Aaron: its subtle (11:31:38 PM) Jordan | Florianopolis: the last note is 10 percent slower right is the last note a quarter or what (11:31:42 PM) Aaron: yeah. (11:31:48 PM) Jordan | Florianopolis: ok (11:31:49 PM) Aaron: so its 10% longer in duration. (11:31:49 PM) Jordan | Florianopolis: so (11:32:12 PM) Jordan | Florianopolis: 15 + 4 (1.10) (11:32:14 PM) Jordan | Florianopolis: /4 (11:32:32 PM) Aaron: 12 + 4(1.10)/4 (11:32:39 PM) Aaron: 4-bar phrase (11:32:42 PM) Jordan | Florianopolis: oh last bar (11:32:44 PM) Jordan | Florianopolis: kk (11:33:40 PM) Jordan | Florianopolis: u said note at first lol (11:33:43 PM) Aaron: haha (11:33:49 PM) Aaron: lol (11:34:02 PM) Jordan | Florianopolis: 16.4/4
Discussing a loop I wrote of 4-bar 4/4, where the last note is 10% longer than the rest. Trying to work out its time signature, lol. |
you're crazy Aaron
why not just say you're changing the tempo 4.8/4? |
Good morning persons, here is something I've been working on.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=87I75SG0 All the guitar parts are played on an acoustic through pc guitar/amp emulation, the rest of programming is from midi and/or fruity loops. I haven't written any more after the current end bit, but I plan to. |
Aaron it would be 4 bars of 4/4 with the last note of the last bar tied over into an extra bar consisting of a single 10-tuplet of a quarter note and just indicate the repeat with rehearsal marks.
If you wanted to be ridiculous about it you could call the last bar a bar of 4.025 / 4 but I'm not going to pretend for a second that's a real thing . It won't fit into a conventional time signature for reasons I'm sure you're aware of. |
16.4/16 is how I look at it. You're right in the traditional reading.
|
Same thing really. How do you arrive at the .4? I've used up my maths for the day.
|
10% of the last note of the 16-note phrase. It's in 4/4 [4-bars].
Should I be counting 16.1/16? lol. |
Wait so, is the last note that you're extending a quarter note or an eighth or a sixteenth? I was working from it being a quarter note.
|
Ah I see. the 16th note of the phrase is 10% longer. Each individual note ordinarily has a quarter-note weighting.

Oh so, 4 notes per bar, then the last note of the last bar is 10% longer? |
Yes.
|
Oh sweet, I don't have to recalculate haha.
|
It works out to be a time displacement of 0.97560975609756097560975609756099% per phrase cycle.
|
Indubitably old chum.
:smoke: |
I need to think of a fictional name for a character in my music. I need suggestions. Thinking of an anglo-descent name, but less common. Not like Williams or Smithson, less common.
