my band hasn't practiced in months they all use the "omg were so busy right now once we're not busy we'll totally practice more!!" excuse

i actually started working on more boring backround music today

I WILL NOT STOP MY HAET KRIMZ

I wanna layer my vox for Paraphilia, but that project seems to be falling apart now. :(

"Boring" background music > unmotivated bands making music

Eliminator 08-14-2007 05:36 PM

pretty much

i am the robots 08-14-2007 05:36 PM

Unmotivated bands are such a cocktease. It's seriously just like... we have potential, let's do something. "IDK MANG"

Eliminator 08-14-2007 05:38 PM

they try to write everything in like a verse-chorus-bridge etc. fashion it was pretty frustrating when i couldn't explain to them why you dont have to write **** that way

NemesisDivina 08-14-2007 05:39 PM

why don't you just ditch them tbh

TojesDolan 08-14-2007 05:41 PM

I will start working on minimalistic music.

Basically do a lot of natural harmonics.

Deathcrush 08-14-2007 05:41 PM
why don't you just ditch them tbh
Indeed. If each and every single band member is not 100% up to your standards, kick them all out and do it yourself.

Shred Danson 08-14-2007 05:41 PM
For the love of God, don't layer Ian's vocals. One track of him is enough.

Seriously, no offense if he's a good guy, but his vocals kinda kill WFOF.
Eh we don't really care.

i'm planning on doing this once i get the funds to buy decent microphones and such

but yeah im pretty much done with the band thing

i am the robots 08-14-2007 05:44 PM

, at least you don't have to deal with... "dude, that's not structured, and it's not tastefully unstructured." "stfu mappy, you're not good at guitar."

Shred Danson 08-14-2007 05:45 PM

Yeah man, I hear that. everytime we write songs, it's like a ****ing algebra test. It sucks.

i am the robots 08-14-2007 05:49 PM

It's annoying. It's like, "Eddie, you don't know how to write a riff that mixes with the previous riff."

LOL OWNED, I'm out.

Shattered_Future 08-14-2007 06:46 PM

I can't write muzacks for guitar anymore. I have writer's block.

That's where I started figuring out how to use my uberkewl synths though, which I've been writing with for the past few weeks or so.

And some of my stuff from Amazon came today...A Sound Relief by The Gathering and In A Flesh Aquarium by Unexpect. Killer.

Eliminator 08-14-2007 06:47 PM

you should stop singing

Shattered_Future 08-14-2007 06:54 PM

I don't sing. I only sing along to Since U Been Gone, biznotch.

How has it gotten worse? I'm curious as to what's changed so much. (I've only been here for two years and I've only been posting regularly for a year or so).
Well, for one, you used to be able to talk about music on here...the mods used to ****ing care if people would spam all the time for absolutely no reason...seriously, who made TojesDan a mod? Every single forum on here didn't used to be the general discussion forum. People wouldn't get into arguments for seemingly no reason every single page...like I said, you can't even talk about music on here anymore. It's ****ing ridiculous.

Virus278 08-14-2007 07:37 PM

new song. not a whole lot going on but i think it's relaxing.

might add to it later on. i dunno.
i wish my band would take some time and actually record solid stuff. whenever we record it's like "oh we just want to get this down so we have a scratch recording" but its like why bother when we can spend like a day or two working on it and do it right
Yeah I kinda had the same problem with my ex-drummer. He said we should release an album of cover songs to "get our name out".

Eliminator 08-14-2007 08:32 PM

my drummer is rich and jewish and thinks he's better than he really is

anyway download my song and slap yr meat puppet around to it a lil

bwnstl 08-14-2007 08:39 PM
Yeah the label that's signing us is giving us 30 g's to record with, and that's more than enough (Jamie King charges like 2 or 3 grand), so we're all gonna use it on bitchin' new equipment.

I myself am getting me 2 Vader cabs w/ a Peavy JSX Head (:drools: ), and maybe an Ibanez Xiphos guitar or a Jackson RR V. Definitely getting me a rack with a tuner though.
I know I'm gonna sound like the village crazy person here.....but why don't you not go crazy and save some of that money? I mean, upgrading some equipment and stuff is all good and well, and getting the things you absolutely NEED to be a better band is great, but I imagine that shouldn't cost 30 grand. You could go a long way and look toward the future (whether with your band or in general if it doesn't work out) with that much.

Deth 08-14-2007 08:47 PM

Because new racks and amps are metal as hell, that's why it needs to be spent.

Shred Danson 08-14-2007 08:57 PM

because

1). We all need new equipment. Badly. I'm running through a 120 watt generic Crate haf stack and it just doesn't cut it for touring.

2). We're using most the money to also record and pay off debts we've had for years.

3). We get $30,000 per album. It's not split up for all members to take, it's just for whatever we need.

Trust me, we know what we're doing.
Oh yeah, this too.

Eliminator 08-14-2007 09:00 PM

don't you still have to pay back the recording costs?

i played a crate half stack once. it was okay

Shred Danson 08-14-2007 09:02 PM

Like I said with Jamie King, it's only $3,000 to record with him. And he'll make the record sound PERFECT. (he's the guy that's recorded Between the Buried and Me, Glass Casket, etc...Glass Casket is a bad example but they wanted to sound like **** so **** em). So recording expenses are A-OK.
