NEW SONGS!!!

Joeeddstealschickens 06-17-2006 11:08 AM

Hey all, my turn to plug, my band The Piltdown Hoax? are relatively new, like a couple of months, and we havent played in a month after uni broke up and we're back dispersed over the country. The best way we can be described s like, Prog-punk or summat, cos we have a punk-sounding base but have a lot of other genres interspersed around it like reggae, metal, folk, country, calypso, acoustic so its quite diverse. Our demos are utterly utterly poor but if anyone listens to them and has any feedback then let me know through this thread or PM cos any views are useful.

Cheers guys, when we have good songs availible then i'll let you all know

Why is there a question mark at the end of your name? It's kind of annoying, tbh.

AIRIC 06-18-2006 03:25 PM

You guys are so Against Me.

We're a 6-piece ska band. I'm still pushing for an organ player but oh well haha. The recordings were done last week at an in-house studio and the trombone player had his wisdom teeth removed the day before we recorded so his parts are really sloppy because he was taking like 5 vicodin every hour.

add us/comment us and all that fun stuff :)

My band.

Those are all unmixed, but the mixed versions have a horrible vocal reverb, and those ones sound alright.

Weezerfan_returns 06-27-2006 02:25 AM

my band, Sorry About Your Couch made a pretty cool list. We made some list as one of the Onion's "Best Worst Band Names of 2006"

If you don't know what the Onion is....check it out.

Pretty good stuff. You should definitely add that organ. I love organ in ska. Which one were you?

Thanks man, glad you dig it. I'm the guitar player. The distortion on all the songs is really meh because my friends amp had an organ effect on it so I used his amp instead. The intro to "bite the bullet" is where I use that effect, cool stuff.

I'm really pushing for the organ but the other guys are sayin 7 might be a little too many people haha.

Ha ha, yeah 7 is pretty big but organs are sweet in ska.
Why is there a question mark at the end of your name? It's kind of annoying, tbh.
Cos me and the bass player who started the band are archaeology students, and name was the title of an article in a book. The piltdown hoax was a hoax involving a fake fossil skull that fooled all these so called experts into thinking it was the oldest known hominid, and for some reason it took them 50 years to discover it was a fake. So maybe we're questioning the 'experts' or something like that, we just thought it was cool.

Plus, we are complete Against Me! bummers hahaha

That was extremely good. I see why you started the psychobilly thread haha. You guys are all really good at your instruments. I took notice to the drummer, maybe cause I'm a drummer, that he's really good. He held perfect time and his fills were tight and on time. Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure I've heard of you guys before. Am I wrong?

AndNico 07-01-2006 12:28 PM

HEy, i'm the drummer...thanks!
you Might of heard of us before, we're workin on building up a name...
We havent played out side the Northern Nevada area yet (only Reno/Carson/G-ville)
We've opened up for big bands though...Koffin Kats, The Quakes..and we were invited to play with Demented Are Go! and Mad sin (both of them cancelled last minute, but we played at the mad sin show anyways)

I think another band member posted on here before and I told him how much I liked you guys.

Also, after listening to Mad Sin, it's pretty damned impressive that you got to play with them.

Jersey's Best Dancer 07-01-2006 03:33 PM

That's why I've heard of them haha. It is very good...

AndNico 07-02-2006 12:12 AM

Dude, that's awesome! The Massacres are local around me and they're pretty good. The Rocketz and the Koffin Kats are sweet too. It's really cool that you got to open for The Quakes. They're sick. Too bad DAG and Mad Sin cancelled though.

EDIT: I just watched the video of your band and you guys are pretty sweet. Keep up the good work and post more videos if you get anymore.

Pete 07-16-2006 05:47 AM

I just thought I might post this in here;

http://www.rebukepunks.com - If anyone likes what they hear, and likes writing reviews, I'd be more than willing to send you a promo copy of any/all of our albums for you to review on sputnik. Just let me know.

sketchyjoe 07-16-2006 06:07 AM

I'd be up for that Pete.

Pete 07-16-2006 06:16 AM

Can I trust you to be slightly biased in my favour, though? Also, you haven't written any reviews so far :( How do I know you're good? Give me a sample opinion.

AIRIC 07-16-2006 08:10 PM

I would say little Joe can write.

If you care.
