Yea C is the most common, and most books that teach you to play harmonica are in C.

I pretty much taught myself, I had a book that taught me a couple of basics but thats it. I can't play very well, I just get my mate to play guitar in C and I just blow into the thing. :p

good rats 07-08-2006 06:11 AM

It isn't a good idea.

:p

Polyamarous 07-08-2006 06:11 AM

Pah!

good rats 07-08-2006 06:12 AM

Ryan, I'll get a link now.

It's pretty good, you can import midi files into it and it changes it into readable harmonica tab.

funkyhoney 07-08-2006 06:15 AM

sweet as, thanks!

funkyhoney 07-08-2006 06:17 AM

i don't really see any pattern with the notes on these things

i mean, it just seems to somewhat randomly jump from hole to hole

good rats 07-08-2006 06:19 AM

Well, holes 4-7 play the harmonica's key scale.

So with yours, the E major scale or whatever would be found from holes 4-7.
The song kind of reminds me of some Coheed and Cambria.
Coheed and Cambria = Awesome!! :)

good rats 07-08-2006 06:22 AM

I met them once. They signed my bag. Then I realised they weren't even that good, so I sprayed a stencil over there signatures.

funkyhoney 07-08-2006 06:22 AM

ohh i think i get it, so blowing in hole 1 is one semitone lower than drawing hole 1 right?

snoop-au 07-08-2006 06:23 AM

aw disappointing :(

Not sure, a lot of the notes are actually placed around randomly, it seems to me.

snoop-au 07-08-2006 06:24 AM

Tried running your harp through a distortion pedal FH? :)

snoop-au 07-08-2006 06:25 AM

I wish Behringer's 4 channel 4600 compressor had attack and release controls like the 2 channel 2600 version ... grh so annoying.

snoop-au 07-08-2006 06:26 AM

I'd be happy just to run my toms, snare and bass through the single stereo channel ... but my condensors are so noisy they really need to be run through a gate too ... so I might as well compress the entire kit, rather than having to buy two compressors ...

snoop-au 07-08-2006 06:27 AM

Now I need a special de-car noise, de-wind, de-people talking downstairs filter ... he he or stick egg cartons on the walls ... /runs

snoop-au 07-08-2006 06:27 AM

OK, so casual just died when I walked in? Damn.

/shower

Polyamarous 07-08-2006 06:28 AM

Did anyone of you watch Devvo on TV last night?

snoop-au 07-08-2006 06:28 AM

That's 6 posts in a row. Officially dead.

good rats 07-08-2006 06:28 AM

Snoop, you're confusing me.

Why don't you just like...get a tape recorder, put it in the middle of room, and then get the band to just play the songs. Mke heaps of copies of the tapes and vwoila!

snoop-au 07-08-2006 06:28 AM

^ nub! Destroyed my deathing of casual!!

snoop-au 07-08-2006 06:30 AM

Because:

a) I'm not in a band currently (drummers and bassists always seem to get shafted)

b) I record solo

c) I need to record piano, drums, bass, synth, sampler, turntable and percussion.

d) I need to get rid of background noise and make my drums sound good

:thumb:

good rats 07-08-2006 06:32 AM

Ohhhh.......ok.

My friend came over and recorded at mine the other night. We just recorded it in my kitchen in like...three takes on my Mac. Good enough for us!

funkyhoney 07-08-2006 06:32 AM

paul, how do you play these "valved" notes?

snoop-au 07-08-2006 06:33 AM

Record your drums over this ... tape recorder ... in the middle of the room.

Then set up a mic above your kit and record it into said tape player

Now set up mics on each drum on your drum kit, going into a mixer, into an MTR.

Now run inserts off each channel into a compressor.

Notice the difference between all these?

Unfortunately I can't afford compressorage for each channel so I need to work out how to share a compressor between every mic on the kit. My dilemma. And I have to figure out how to do this WHILE recording cuz my MTR only has two (stereo) inputs, so once it's in there, it ain't comin back out as individual channels.

Jody LeCompte 07-08-2006 06:34 AM

I have an 8 hour orientation at work today, atleast Im getting paid to go.

good rats 07-08-2006 06:34 AM

Umm...valved? The notes above the other notes on that picture I posted?

No idea. I can't bend or anything for crap, it's really hard. You've gotta like, change the shape of your throat and mouth and tongue and crap. I dunno. I'll find some links for you.

snoop-au 07-08-2006 06:34 AM

I used to record using two dodgy mics into a dodgy $10 2 channel mixer from cashies, into the mic in on my laptop. I'm trying to upgrade :)
