AndreTheHyena 11-02-2005 10:25 PM

It's an X-Ray Spex reference, though, which is way cooler than a Beatles reference.

Brain Toad 11-02-2005 10:26 PM

X-Ray Spex are bad.

Anxious 11-02-2005 10:28 PM

They are ok

But another band starting with X, Xiu Xiu, are better.

AndreTheHyena 11-02-2005 10:33 PM

Another band starting with "X", X, are better.

And I would probably rather listen to X-Raty Spex than the Beatles most days of the week. Except maybe Sunday or Wednesday.

pssh Beatles way > X-Ray Spex

I know, but The Germs also have the word Germ in their name, and I hate them with all my heart.

The Day the World Turned Day-Glo its such an excellent song though.

AndreTheHyena 11-02-2005 10:41 PM

I call the Get Up Kids emo, since they were one of the first bands to be called "emo" and embrace it.

I have three out of four of those cd's on my computer.

Yesss. The Get Up Kids are emo, or really close to it.

The other bands he posted are crap, except FOB.
Hey Sam, didn't you like Randy?
Yeah, why????

And you stopped sharing your files with me Albert :(

albert_bass 11-03-2005 04:14 AM

Uh, sorry I can share now.

Because I was listening to them and remembered someone loved them as I do, and I was wondering if it was you.

The Get-Up Kids are emo?

EDIT:After listening, I suppose you could call them emo.

AndreTheHyena 11-03-2005 01:01 PM

They're not "emo" in the same vein of Rites of Spring or Fugazi, but they, along with Jawbreaker, Braid, the Promise Ring, etc, all formed that mid-90's group of bands originally referred to as "emo", and their dorky glasses and clever wordplay influenced hundreds of other likeminded bands. It you wanna be a scene cop and a genre nazi, go ahead, but I will forever refer to bands such as them as emo.

It's just been watered-down and shittified until the word doesn't really mean anything anymore...just like "punk".

Aus Rotten 11-03-2005 01:04 PM

Classifying bands in genres are what you make them. People have classified Aus-Rotten as anarcho, while I still believe they are a crust band. Genre are different to different people, and who really cares? Genre's are only used loosely to organize bands.

RetiredAt21 11-03-2005 01:18 PM

Genres aren't an opinion.

Brain Toad 11-03-2005 04:37 PM
Genres aren't an opinion.
This is right. Opinions do play in, but most genres have established sounds, rules, history etc. And a band can be in more then one genre, in no way are they confining. Aus-Rotten is both a crust band an anarcho band.

Confession - I had pizza for lunch.

AIRIC 11-03-2005 05:46 PM

Me too. It was good until that fag started to convulse.

Confession - I just went to Hooters, and didnt get wood :upset:

Confession: Hooters has good Curly Fries.

Iron Bug 11-03-2005 05:48 PM

I wouldent either that place is really annoying, and only gives chubbys to 12 year olds and drunk people.

Skidmark Steve 11-03-2005 05:50 PM

yea Hooters makes me feel sad. Such hot girls that will never like me...*sigh*

coheneran 11-03-2005 05:56 PM

I tried filling up a Clipper lighter with butane lighter fluid while it was lit, and the flame engulfed my head in a big fireball of heat and noise and burning eyebrow for a split second, so I didn't get burned, just my fringe and facial hair, but it was COOL! Have you ever been INSIDE a flame? I imagine that was what it's like.
Don't try this at home.

AIRIC 11-03-2005 05:59 PM

I avoid fire.

Lazybassplr56 11-03-2005 06:20 PM

I almost died once.

AIRIC 11-03-2005 06:22 PM

oshi.

RetiredAt21 11-03-2005 06:45 PM

How can you not get wood at Hooters?

coheneran 11-03-2005 06:58 PM
How can you not get wood at Hooters?
Apparently they're all ugly and they only choose them for their tats, not their faces and personality.
And anyway, I've been to lots of places I should have gotten wood, but didn't. I've also been to lots of places I got wood, surprisingly, when there was nothing arousing about whatsoever. Rather embarassing.
Confession: Hooters has good Curly Fries.
I love Curly Fries. If I had to eat one food for the rest of my life, it would be Curly Fries. Yum.

DaveToopes 11-03-2005 07:03 PM

I get wood in school sometimes, also for no apparent reason.

It's horrible isn't it? And then you have to inconspicuosly re-arrange, so you put your hand in your pocket and reach towards the middle, but OH NO! Your teacher sees you and asks you if that's a mobile phone you're reaching for (oh yeah, feel the shame!), and you slip your hand out your pocket faster than you slipped it into Louise Bates's knickers at her little sister's birthday party. Now you begin to feel paranoid, is everyone behind me watching? What should I do? If I get up everyone upfront will see. You get so worked up about it that you lose woody. Ahhhhhh, relief floods you with it's warm velvety softness, just like, oop, you guessed it, Louise Bates's knickers. Guess who's back!
And the vicious cycle continues.

I think Jawbreaker is pop punk, not emo.

That was an excellent description. I sit in the back in at least three of my classes, so the boxer tuck is a pretty easy thing to accomplish. But there's always those days...

Brain Toad 11-03-2005 07:57 PM

I confess to downloading racist music and enjoying it, mainly for humourous lyrics and good music.
