Even if hes not the best vocalist ever, he is a great frontman.
|
Yeh I think he is a great vocalist and he has an awesome voice screaming and singing.
Not long to I see them now with bloodsimple and god forbid, should be a very good show. Anyone seeing them when they come to the UK? My local radio station doesn't play anything except for pop music and very occasionaly rock music that is in the chart, but it is pretty rubbish really. |
yeah triviums pretty sic but the vocals dont blend with the music to well
|
That's exaclty what I've thought the times I've seen them live, he always avoids singing the clean parts, and when he does it sounds quite poor. His stage presence does make up for it to some extent, but he seriously needs to work on his singing voice live.
|
Look, we settled this a long time ago...
The only people that say he has a good singing voice are ones that think he's actually singing the clean parts in the studio. He is 'singing' them, but please keep in mind that its blatantly heavily auto-tuned. His voice is not going to get any better because he does the screaming all wrong (the same way i got laryngitis) and his voice is only going to degrade more and more as he tears his vocal chords apart with his nOOb screaming. Front man and guitarist status aside, both of which he excells greatly in. Can we all agree that the guy isn't exactly a great singer. Im not saying he's bad, because as imperfect as his live performances are vocally he still keeps it together enough for the song to be done justice, but honestly my grandmother has a better clean singing voice than he does. Even when he does sing the clean bits which is rare, he's singing it about 4 octaves down and sounds like he can barely get the word out before he runs out of breath and his voice breaks. |
my friend got me into trivium and i think they are great. the guitar work is amazing. the vocals are meh, but when he acually 'sings' its pretty good. great band. :)

There's technology available to adjust vocals after they've been recorded so they are accurately in tune. It can also make instruments perfectly in tune, and drums exactly in time. They're referred to as Pro Tools.

So basically, cheating and editing so the band sounds better than they actually are? Sounds pretty lame to me... Just the concept I don't like. I mean, I would much rather listen to the Ascendency album with auto-tuning, because it does sound a lot better, but it's still cheating in a way I think. |

Where you been, man?
Under a rock, nah just workin and stuff thts why i havent been postin here lately |
Pull Harder does tend to get old after a while, but if you don't listen to Trivium at all for a while and you come back to them, along with Like Lights to Flies, Pillars of Serpents, and Rain, Pull Harder really shines.
|
Another song on ascendancy that is extremely good is a gunshot to the head of trepidation, love the intro drum line
|
Yeah after not listening to them its always nice to come back to them, pull harder is sucha bad arse song its a good one to listen to after a long break. Especially the breakdown after the 2nd chorus, so bad arse. To any other auto-tuning questions its the magical computer program that makes britney spears and hoobastank sound like operah singers.

Hey I got this from the Trivium site.
A quote from the NY Times about the Underworld Soundtrack: "Best of all is an appearance from the thrilling young Florida band Trivium, which contributes "Washing Away Me in the Tides," previously available as a bonus track on the Japanese version of the band's recent album, Ascendancy (Roadrunner). As the band cycles through restless riffs, galloping breaks and (inevitably) guitar solos, the lead singer, Matthew K. Heafy, snarls, "Everything smells of you/ Even the gasoline that covers you." This might be the most exuberant song on the whole CD." Does anyone have this song? |
Yea I'd also like to hear it.

I like Trivium a lot, but I have to say they were dissapointing to see live. They sped everything up a bunch (including Rain) and Matt didn't sing any of the clean vocals right. (sigh) It was still cool just to see them. The concert was worth it too because I got to see Children Of Bodom and Amon Amarth. :D |

Yea I saw them on that tour too. Amon Amarth Kicked *** and Trivium Owned and COB is just classic. I couldn't beleive how fast they played Rain...I was really impressed by their performance. I had seen some stuff off of their website...and I didn't think the show would be very good. But they came out and started good kept the energy and finished good |
So Amott said somthin along those lines, and i agree 100%.
Im suprised noone conversed bout this. |

Yeah, it was the same way at Ozzfest. Oh well, at least I don't have high expectations. |
for eny one who dos not no triviums next album is
The Crusade |
I saw a live clip of trivium performing pull harder on teh strings of your martyr and it kicked the studio versions *** matt sang much better he still had a growl but it was much improved. I think if they were to sing like i saw there it would be a huge improvement becuase on the cd his vocals are less the amazing. good band with potential however.
|
Not that big a fan of the whole growling vocal style, but really liked the guitar work on the album. Read in TG that they're going for a different style of vocals for the next record.
"Vocally it's going to be quite different with not so much gutteral screaming as on Ascendancy. The main voice is going to be more raspy and intense, so it's kind of a new vocal styling" Should be interesting to hear, and sounds like an improvent in the vocals which is IMO the weakest part of the record. |
Capharnaum >
^ ****ing sick^:chug: |
for eny one who dos not no triviums next album is
