Ganondorf 09-02-2005 03:05 AM

Banning him was a bit harsh

Kif 09-02-2005 04:52 AM

I agree there man, it was his first post on the forums. You could've just given him a warning?

Angry Balled Fists! 09-02-2005 05:06 AM

No, ban is suitable for it.

Spence can't ban anyway.

He obviously made the account justy to do it.

Ganondorf 09-02-2005 05:07 AM

Hmm, if the link was dodgy (didn't notice there was a link before) maybe it was the right thing? What was the link for anyway?

Angry Balled Fists! 09-02-2005 05:08 AM

Tub girl.

Ganondorf 09-02-2005 05:10 AM

hahaha quality

If you post a link to Tubby, then you're gonna get banned.

How long do you have left on your ban?

And Gorf, when did you get stars? :chug:

Angry Balled Fists! 09-02-2005 05:20 AM

Breakfast time Spence ?

Can you ban then ?

Gnarmageddon 09-02-2005 05:22 AM

Yep. I'm eating Pop Tarts.

And no, I can't ban, but I can request to have people banned and it'll get done fairly quickly.

Angry Balled Fists! 09-02-2005 05:23 AM

Yeah, thought so.

Ganondorf 09-02-2005 05:24 AM

Oh, I didn't know he made a link to Thy Tubbed One.

I think it's like 3 weeks, I'm not sure

Man, that's a lot of rep.

Hm. I might be able to talk to Jim and see if he'll un-ban it a bit early.

Kif 09-02-2005 05:34 AM

Ooooh that would be awesome if you could Spencer :D

Gnarmageddon 09-02-2005 05:35 AM

Alright. I'll IM him the next time he's on.

Erm, ive just finished my FA, shoudl i post it still ?
Erm, ive just finished my FA, shoudl i post it still ?
Give the guy some time, like I said in the other thread.
You'd be really pissed if you wrote an FA, and then straight away, I posted one as well.
We only have room for 1 FA to get stickied, we always have too many stickies.

Angry Balled Fists! 09-02-2005 09:30 AM

Geez.

Kif 09-02-2005 09:38 AM

See this is what I mean, it's so unorganized. You two spent the time to write an FA only to have to wait a few weeks to post it.

Angry Balled Fists! 09-02-2005 09:40 AM

Man, i'm pissed now, i spent the time uploading the albums and doing it, now i can't put it up because i'm a few minutes too slow.

I'll wait a week.

Kif 09-02-2005 09:43 AM

Well usually FAs stay up for about a fortnight to a month...

Angry Balled Fists! 09-02-2005 09:58 AM

The rule was a week...

I think my Alkaline Trio was up for a week, then Spence's NoFx one went up...

Mute Print 09-02-2005 10:01 AM

A week seems like enough. Everyone will get to see it by the time a week is up, and even if it is unstickied after that, that doesn't mean it's going to fall off the first page necessarily.

Angry Balled Fists! 09-02-2005 10:02 AM

Exatcly, it can still be discussed in after if people so wish to.

Kif 09-02-2005 10:09 AM

Oh, now we have a mod who can do stuff, I think this needs to be put either in the Important Links section, or as a seperate post in the Rules somewhere:

Vince's "How to make a good "band thread""

Gnarmageddon 09-02-2005 02:20 PM

It's already in there. It's the third link.

Permanent Solution 09-02-2005 02:29 PM

In other news I'm running FAs now, so start emailing me, I think I'm going to make it one every two weeks if we can get enough writers, if not, once a month. Start making requests though so I can get a feel for the availability of them, thanks.

Gnarmageddon 09-02-2005 02:30 PM

Yep. It's in the rules now. :thumb:

And Dan, what band were you making a profile for?

ChodaBoy 09-02-2005 04:43 PM

Since the Blink 182 thread isn't exactly used for talk about the band anymore, Would it not be a good idea to close it, then when there is something significant to talk about, open it up again?

Recent topics in there are about random bands, and guitars people use.

Mute Print 09-02-2005 04:48 PM

I absolutely agree with this. There is no real Blink discussion going on anymore. And then when someone like Kif comments that the thread is, in fact, supposed to be used to discuss Blink-182 and all related side projects, you get responses like the one from letter bomb on the last page.

Gnarmageddon 09-02-2005 04:52 PM

Alright, closed.

Kif 09-02-2005 05:36 PM

Sadly, this means that

A) No real Blink talk will go on for a while, which has it's advantages I suppose.
B) All the fucktards from that thread will be making new threads and going into decent threads where people use English and not Moron language.

Gnarmageddon 09-02-2005 05:38 PM

I'll probably open it back up after a while

Permanent Solution 09-02-2005 05:39 PM

Then Spence will have to start issuing the banhammer liberally.

As it is I think more music related discussion occures in the discussion thread than most of the "official" threads.

Descendents !

Drop The Baby 09-03-2005 04:44 AM

I did a descendents band profile recently for punk

Drop The Baby 09-03-2005 05:09 AM

some people are f'ucking cun'ts, they make threads to ask questions

close/delete and ban: 'the why has the blink thread been closed guy?'*

*sorry i didn't link it, my copy and paste seems to have gone nuts and it's not allowing me to do it

ChodaBoy 09-03-2005 05:11 AM

http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=387092

Independent_CA 09-03-2005 11:42 AM

I'm sorry, but I totally disagree with the closing of the blink thread. First of all, the discussion about other bands was started by somebody who posted covers of blink that his band had done. So then some people started posting bands that they either thought sounded like blink, or got into because of blink in some way. The guitar discussion started with the discussion of Tom's guitars and why we would or would not want one of them.

Considering that there is nothing going on with the band right now, and it's anyone's guess as to whether or not there will be, I don't see how this qualifies as being "off topic". We eventually always got back to discussing the band or it's members anyways, no matter what we talked about. I don't see what the problem was, and I don't see why anyone felt the need to complain, let alone close the thread.
