I'm now digging Leonard Cohen. He's one cool canuck bastard.

And I just want to reiterate how friggin awesome Missy Higgins' CD is. I didn't expect it to be this good.

Tapeworm 09-15-2004 10:17 AM

Again, YESSSS!!!

Hey, do you have much knowledge on Leonard Cohen? Because I really dig him and I've been wanting to pick up an album for some time now.

Tomahawk 09-15-2004 10:21 AM

I know that "Songs of Love and Hate" is a good album. And that Avalanche is an awesome song. Other than that, I know nothing.

Master Arkam Kannon 09-15-2004 10:37 PM

i'm finally sitting down and listening thoroughly to Dizziee Rascal after like 8 months and i am firmly impressed...

Wanker 09-16-2004 08:58 AM
Their music took me a surprising amount of time to get into. I found it a bit boring and repetetive at first, but after going back to some of their stuff, I really like it.

Lately, I've been listening to a lot of Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky, and Bright Eyes.
nice choices. if i ever get to see Explosions live, i would probably crap my pants.

Little Man being Erased 09-16-2004 06:45 PM

I got the new Faint album "Wet From Birth" yesterday and have been listening to it non-stop. Awesome. And yeh, congrats to those who have discovered the brilliance of Missy Higgins.

Happymeal 09-16-2004 07:13 PM

Hah, typical Tapeworm persuasion. I haven't listened to Missy Higgins yet, but I'm sure I'll like her. What's a good first The Faint album? Your Hand In Mine makes me gloriously sad.. so beautiful..

guitari265 09-16-2004 07:34 PM

Who knows any rising rock/indie bands in nothern illinois? One of my favorites recently broke up, Surefire, but yeah any suggestions?

another guy 09-16-2004 11:20 PM

Hah, yeah.

Danse Macabre is definately my favourite Faint album. Wet From Birth has really freakin great songs on it, but there are two or three average tracks. Blank Wave Arcade is really consistent, but not to the standard and consistency of Danse.

KazooVirtuoso 09-17-2004 02:20 PM

I've been stuck in a musical rut for a while... Not in a bad way really, it's just that I've been sticking a lot of my semi-recent favorites lately instead of discovering new favorites. Isis, Pinback, Fantomas, Mastodon, Kayo Dot, 27, Pelican, Neutral Milk Hotel, The Cardigans, etc, etc. My new discoveries, which haven't been many, haven't reached 'favorite' status.

Only difference is I've been spinning Gran Turismo by The Cardigans instead of their older indie-pop albums.

IsItLuck? 09-17-2004 02:54 PM

Dillinger Escape Plan featuring Mike Patton and Radiohead has been a favorite on my playlist lately.

coolnewshoes 09-17-2004 03:48 PM

There's this newish Canadian band called NoAlternative. They aren't big at all, their site is noalternativemusic.com. They have a vid for their song called "Something Beatiful" that they play sometimes on TV, I've seen it on MuchLoud. They're a cool band, they have good music and they aren't all creepy and tattooish and insane clothing type.

The Radio Dept. - Lesser Matters
I really don't know what to say about this album... but I'm quite sure that lesser matters has the most breathtaking masterpieces I've listened to in a long time.
Run and buy it/dl it

Happymeal 09-18-2004 09:20 PM
Pretty Girls Make Graves
Cool. Check out Rival Schools too, if you haven't done so.

I'm gonna buy an Arab Strap album one of these days..

AK47 09-18-2004 09:31 PM

Talking Heads - Remain in Light.

Luxor 09-18-2004 11:01 PM

Today I bought:

Coheed And Cambria - In Keeping Secrets Of The Silent Earth: 3
Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots

I already had a burned copy of Co&Ca, but I decided to buy my own.

Luxor 09-18-2004 11:10 PM

To Tapeworm: Does this count as stealing? I was on the website tonight and I like that pic. I thought you wouldn't mind since you don't use the Elliot avatar anymore. :D

Hah, that's the same thing I did with IKSOSE:3. NICE!!!

Yeah man, it's alright. If you want I could switch back to my moving one with all the pics and you could save it if you want. So you could have that one. Eh?

Happymeal 09-19-2004 07:38 AM

Why the heck would you not buy IKSOSE:3 or SSTB if you're a CoCa lover? I've been listening to The Prize Fighter Inferno(CoCa's side project?) songs awhile ago, cool. Oh, and My Red Cell which Tape raves so much about. Modest Mouse killer? Maybe. Haha. I'ma gonna buy Burn Piano Island, Burn later..

Tapeworm 09-19-2004 07:49 AM
Oh, and My Red Cell which Tape raves so much about. Modest Mouse killer? Maybe. Haha.
Huh???

Oh, and isn't there only one "Prize Fighter Inferno" song?

Happymeal 09-19-2004 07:51 AM

You said they're better than Modest Mouse and stuff.. ahh nevermind. Only one Prize Fighter song? I heard 3..2 on MySpace, 1 on purevolume..

Tapeworm 09-19-2004 08:13 AM

Woah, I've only heard one. You crazy thingo you!

Oh, I get it now, yeah I like em more than MM.

Sure. :)

You made that one yourself right? It's pretty awesome.

Tapeworm 09-19-2004 08:46 AM

Yeah, I'll change it now, just post here when you've got it. :thumb:

Luxor 09-19-2004 08:56 AM

I'm kind of computer-retarded at some things, how do I save it? Right clicking and saving on my computer just saves it as a single "still" pic. It's not alternating between them...

Tapeworm 09-19-2004 08:59 AM

Really? It should just save as a GIF. I dunno, when it says "save as" just save it as whatever.gif maybe.

Luxor 09-19-2004 09:01 AM

It will only let me save as bitmap.
