i like i am the law..i havent heard electric eye
try electric funeral by pantera(cover of black sabbath)..thats the only song i know that has electric in it..apart from met's its electric. this is the 1001th post.We Rule!! buys the titans some beer ps:i am 13wayz |
Electric Eye is incredible!!! Make sure you do "the helion" intro though, or it wont be complete. I am the law is cool, but then again im not a huge anthrax fan.
|
anthrax is cool,man..its like a thrashier pantera in my opinion.
|
If I ever join a band, I'm forcing us to cover Pestilence - Dehydrated... or maybe Chronic Infection.. or.. I dunno.
|
Yes, awesome picks. I like both songs, esp Electric eye. But as frail said you need to play the hellion, too. \m/ awesome.
|
Past the 1000 mark! the Thrash Clan is going strong still. I third the playing of The Hellion before Electric Eye.....it builds up the greatness.
Anyway! Whilst I'm here I'll ask a question. Is No More Color by Coroner any good? I've got Punishment For Decadence and R.I.P. and I love 'em both. I've not heard any Coroner after that.....I heard they mellowed out a bit on the last 4 albums, so I don't know what to think. |
You guys think these are good picks, or are me and my bandmates crazy?
If this is the nu-metal band that you were talking about joining earlier, then I think it is most definetly a great plan... of course, even if you were straight thrash those would still be great picks. Rock out man \m/ |
I need a so-called "unholy pentagram" of maniacal thrashers that paved the way for death. I got: Darkness Descends, Pleasure to Kill, Reign in Blood, and Seven Churches. For the 5th one I'm thinkin Sep's Schizophrenia, not sure. Anyone got any suggestions?
hell awaits by slayer.
Is No More Color by Coroner any good?
yes! its pretty awesome. ive only got a few mp3's from it but from what ive heard its great. good luck finding it though!!! and where did you get your copies of r.i.p and punishment for decadence from? i had to order them in at $42 and $45 (ouch). |
Ouch! I got both mine from JB Hi-Fi for $21 each!
You got ripped off mate. |
ha! $21 each! thats so bad. doesnt matter.
p.s. i think i may move to melbourne! |
Good thinking! No More Color is in there for the same price aswell. JB have a suprisingly good selection and most are dirt cheap aswell.
On another note! I noticed that Exodus pulled back a classic song for the new album. One that Kirk Hammett had a hand in writing. Easy to tell it's really early Thrash....sounds very Kill 'Em All like. The tracks called Impaler. Dunno if turned up in any of the EP's they brought out when Hammett was in the band, but it's a good track anyways. |
i'm a go download impaler..hang on
ohh and are jason newstead's echobrain and voivod any good? any recommendations? |
echobrain is very mello compared to voivod but i still think there a good band i havent heard much voivod but from what i have heard they sound good.
|
i don't mind the mellow stuff even though i'm a titan,man.
did ya hear about how jason wanted to do a met-voivod co headling concert so fans could see which was better? |

Their thrash was really quite substandard, but when they were trying to do something a little different, i think they pulled it off. Not a great band, but by no means terrible.
|
Oh, and No More Color is still very decent. More mid-paced, laid back thrash. Still thrash, just not the classics that the first two were.
^^^^^^^^
Bonded by Blood is by far the best album by Exodus. I've got some good news. My buddies and I in my band decided on a couple of cover songs we're gonna play once in a while during our shows. We decided on I Am The Law by Anthrax, and Electric Eye by Judas Priest. You guys think these are good picks, or are me and my bandmates crazy?
Well I don't know how talented you guys are, but if I was you I would just rip the pansy-assed crowd's heads off (this is a Mallcore crowd right?) with something like Under the Guillotine or Raining Blood. Last 30 seconds kills me every time. |
UNDER THE GE-O-TI! :p Gotta love the accent. If you were to play that song, you'd have to say Guillotine like that! :p
|
Hehe yah. Max also had a major accent.... love how he says the first paragraph of Arise, with all those big words :p
|

The only thing about us now that sounds remotely nu-metal is the slower songs that I've written. Everything else is thrash. We're like a mixture of Slayer, Anthrax, and a little bit of Cold thrown in there, but not much. We will play the Hellion into Electric Eye though. We open our shows with a instrumental that we wrote called "Scream of the Martyred". |

record it and let me hear it then! btw: What's the name of our band? |
Axehead :thumb:
|
doesnt that sound thrashy :thumb:
|
Does it really? I hope so, cause I thought it fitted well. I'm the lead singer, if I haven't mentioned it before. Our first show went off without a hitch, and we recorded it, so I'll have to start us a homepage, and put that video available for streaming. I've written some stuff that's socially conscious, like a song I wrote about abortion called Dealing in Death, and then there is more introverted stuff like the acoustic song called Insomnia that I wrote. As a band, we have good range, and we get people who listen to nu-metal to realize how great thrash is. I love it!
If you guys want, I could post some of my lyrics if you like. Give me some feedback! |
I already knew about metal-archives, great site :thumb:
And I am soon going to do a Darkness Descends review, for it i need your help, I need a so-called "unholy pentagram" of maniacal thrashers that paved the way for death. I got: Darkness Descends, Pleasure to Kill, Reign in Blood, and Seven Churches. For the 5th one I'm thinkin Sep's Schizophrenia, not sure. Anyone got any suggestions? Thanks :chug:
Venom - Black Metal or if you want to stick to the super thrashers... Persecution Mania |
well, morbid visions and bestial devestation were more deathy and they 'paved the way' so to speak for death, although they aren't really manic thrashers to the degree that schizophenia and beneath the remains were. Meh, all early sep albums are worth picking up. :D
Death's scream bloody gore is another one, as are master's and masacres first few albums/ demos. yeah, awesomeness \m/ |
OK! So i'll have to check out Persecution Mania, I should be doing the review later today!
