I liked V, but I had to travel 60 miles to see it. Apparently, it was too political to be shown in Stoke, because
A) Stoke is apparently full of stupid people and
B) there are bombings that "would insult the muslim community"

kurrpt 06-21-2006 07:23 AM

i thought it was boring as hell actually. The "funny" parts seemed forced to me, and the movie progressed so slow that i was surprised i didnt fall asleep.
Totally

<_<

Anyone watch that V for Vendetta that was on a bit ago?
Yea I watched it. I thought it was really good. I thought there was a bit too much thinkining involved for the viewer but it was still great.

It's a horrible concept. They need to make a Toy Story 3 already.

EDIT: It's seems they are making one.... Buzz Lightyear gets recalled :(

I don't see a problem unless she starts moaning

then everybody looks at you two funny

kurrpt 06-21-2006 07:27 AM

pixar could make any movie, animate it, put in some semi-famous actors, and still my 60 million its opening week.

I will say they had this short film in the beginning of the movie that was fantastic. It was about a one-man-band in France, playing 8 instruments at once, trying to get a gold coin from a little girl. Then another one-man-band dude shows up playing the violin, and they had a battle.

No words, with decent music as well.

Insomniac20k 06-21-2006 07:28 AM

They always have some cool shorts.

Meatplow 06-21-2006 07:29 AM
Yah, looks good. Apparently there are lots of scenes with the guy getting his johnson sliced up.
Echoes of I Spit On Your Grave?

What do people think of that movie? I thought it was fairly plodding but it picked up towards the end. Johnson :p love that word.

SirSpamalot 06-21-2006 07:29 AM

I like disney/kids movies when they slip in more mature jokes that the kids won't get

but lately it seems they haven't been doing that

AG 06-21-2006 07:32 AM

I haven't seen I spit on your Grave.

Seemed to me like a film that got cult following just because it was put on the video nasties list in the 80's.

kurrpt 06-21-2006 07:32 AM

they did in that movie, i just found them extremely not funny

Sad But True 06-21-2006 07:32 AM

Apparently subliminal messaging is bad, pah.

SirSpamalot 06-21-2006 07:34 AM

maybe you're just hard to please

there are certain things you can do to enhance your appreciation of humour, you know.

It helps if you know that you're going to be seeing a boring movie

kurrpt 06-21-2006 07:38 AM

o, i knew i wasnt going to enjoy the movie, but i always try to make the best of the situation. Having melted non-parels on me doesnt help it. If you saw the movie, i think you'd agree

SirSpamalot 06-21-2006 07:42 AM

well if you're taking kids getting high before you go is prolly not an option, but that's your fault for letting yourself get stuck in a position of responsibility

I'm prolly not going to end up seeing that until one of my little brothers rents it

Meatplow 06-21-2006 07:44 AM

Thats pretty much it. A shy woman gets raped three or four times by a group of men one afternoon, then it turns into a really B-grade killing fest where she somehow turns into a smooth talking manipulating harlet who takes out revenge. Its hard to pin down whether it glorifies sex and violence or is a social commentary on rape hence the controversy. Looks pretty dated these days though.

kurrpt 06-21-2006 07:44 AM

nah, you're right, i took the responsible approach.

That sounds pretty lame really, regardless of whether is a social commentry or a killfest.

Lydisk 06-21-2006 07:48 AM

is portugal going to kill MXico or what?

sounds sort of like Kill Bill tbh

Tarantino rules though

 That man is more overated than religion itself.

SirSpamalot 06-21-2006 07:54 AM

Doesn't change the fact that he makes awesome movies

Led Zep may be overrated, but they did some awesome stuff

AG 06-21-2006 07:54 AM

Tarantino's early stuff deserved the hype.

Nowdays he's attaching his name to films and stuff, he's not as brill.

SirSpamalot 06-21-2006 07:56 AM

Reservoir dogs and Pulp fiction both pwn

I didn't really like hostel though

and that whole sin city bit where he "guest directed a scene"?

Sad But True 06-21-2006 07:56 AM

omg non linear narrative

His films are good, but I don't think he's spectacular, at all.

AG 06-21-2006 07:58 AM

He didn't direct Hostel, just attached his name to it.

The scene in Sin City was the one where benicio deltorro (sp to the max) is speaking after he's dead.

I liked his episde of CSI, mind.

SirSpamalot 06-21-2006 07:59 AM

Actually that scene was pretty creepy

but I liked the bit just after where the police officer stops him with the dead guy in the front seat and he tells him he's "partied too hard" or something

Meatplow 06-21-2006 07:59 AM
That sounds pretty lame really, regardless of whether is a social commentry or a killfest.
It is. It got banned several times and its major selling point on the DVD cover is just that, the graphics making it look intensely controversial and evil. The film itself is fairly rubbish though.
sounds sort of like Kill Bill tbh, Tarantino rules though
Yeah i felt echoes of Kill Bill whilst watching it, but minus the production values, acting ability and multiple sets.
