What's been happening guys?
Did anything happen with that job you were going for Chris?
No news just yet. Although I am cutting it pretty fine. Seing I'll be technically unemployed in 6 days time. I'd want to at least know what's going on with it by early next week.

I've applied for a one month contract making a website for this bunch of people. And I'll take it if nothing else works out for me, but i'd ideally want something more permanent than just one month.

But if worse comes to worse, I'll do pretty much anything if it comes down to it. And my 'people' should be able to sort something out for me.

I'm guessing you are doign work experience at the web design place. How is it going? What technologies are they using in the industry nowadays?

moaner 06-23-2005 04:37 PM

If i had money, aes, i'd employ you.

as a butler.

/:lol::lol::lol: as i think of aes's face when i tell him in order to look neat and tidy he'll have to shave

gaslight 06-23-2005 05:40 PM

How do I get "people"?

Welcome to the forums Took.
I try to keep the users in the Guitar forum in check. Although most of them are good kids. My advice would be to read the rules, and you'll be more than right fitting in.

Your first couple of posts seem right on the way of you becoming yet another helpful and well respected memeber of this forum community tho. So, once again, welcome.

I'm a skippy. So I can't help you out with a band thing. Sorry.

NEWS JUST IN.. I've been extended for another month. Aparantly they really need me where I am.
So I can put off finding another job for at least a little while. That's a bit of a relief.

airborne50caliber 06-24-2005 12:00 AM

Use punctuation, if that helps.

Trigger_003 06-24-2005 02:59 AM

G'day Took :). There's a thread at the top of the Jam Session (this forum) that links to some of Merkaba's vocal orientated threads. They're pretty useful; you might like to check them out.

Sweet as. Still, hope you can manage to get that extra 10 grand a year job.

Work experience was awesome - I loved it. Getting shouted lunch is always a good thing :p. My main task was creating a static website for the official Deaflypics results cd, and I also met some guys from the Tigers basketball team (from the (Aussie) NBL); the guys where I was at are doing a big promotion program for them. Man they were tall.
Um, most of the time I was using Dreamweaver/Notepad/Vim...
They invited me back so it's all good :thumb:.

G'day Trea and Aes (who's real name I don't know, is it Chris?).

How y'all doing in here? I walked around some shops in the city today. I want my own professionall quality studio :(.

Can someone tell me in Australia dollars what it would cost to have your own pro-quality studio, seperate from your house and everything like that? I'm not under the impression that I'm going to go out and build one, just curious about it.

Trigger_003 06-24-2005 03:07 AM

C'mon, who doesn't?
Sorry man, I've got no idea. It'd probably depend on how indepth you went, where you were located (in terms of rent/property costs), yada yada. Like the price of say a guitar or a house, I'd imagine it'd vary quite a lot.
But as I said, I don't have a clue in that area :(.

EDIT: (from another thread)
Trig your CAT AVATAR is covered!!! :upset:
Huh?

gaslight 06-24-2005 03:18 AM

You may have to reupload your avatar after the server problem, if you haven't already.

Trigger_003 06-24-2005 03:21 AM

Ah, right.

I'm going good, yourself? What else have you been up to besides dreaming of a studio?

gaslight 06-24-2005 03:24 AM

I'm also good.

My first semester at AIM is finishing so I've had exams and have one left, otherwise I've been sitting around doing nothing and looking at more pedals/recording gear. Dreaming of a studio takes up most of my abstract thinking time.

For realistic things though, I am looking for an affordable but good quality small mixer to make my home recordings a bit better for guitar/bass. I'm getting a new phone this weekend I think. That's about all really.

You?

Trigger_003 06-24-2005 03:31 AM

Sounds good. Man, I'd love to be at a music school/doing a music course.

As I said just a bit before, work experience. Now it's holidays for me so I'm going to do some surfing (if I can manage to get to the beach), pig out on guitar/trombone, exercise, and general holidayish stuffing around.

Got much planned for the holidays (if you get much of one)?

gaslight 06-24-2005 03:40 AM

You'll probably do a music course one day right? Or are you going to do the technology stuff you're doing at the moment? Both good choices.

I get holidays at the moment effectively and from the start of July officially for that month. I'm hoping to do lots of playing and recording if I can get a little mixer or something similar to help out. I really should exercise, I've been meaning to, but it never happens.

Yes. I'm a Chris. There's a few of us Chris's around on here, it seems.

As for building your own studio. You could spend anywhere from the thousands to the hundreds of thousands.
Something like a Bluescope Steel shed, with a bit of sound proofing and a heap of Behringer gear would do the job for a little home studio.

gaslight 06-24-2005 04:20 AM

When you say hundreds of thousands, would it be under the half-a-million mark?

Trigger_003 06-24-2005 04:40 AM

I know you said pro studio, and that you were just interested, but while we're on the topic...
If anyone's interested and hasn't seen it:

Ok the tar is back

Trigger_003 06-24-2005 03:53 PM

It's okay everyone, the cat's back, we can all relax.
You'll probably do a music course one day right? Or are you going to do the technology stuff you're doing at the moment? Both good choices.
Sorry, missed this yesterday...
Yeah, I'm aiming to. Music is more what I want to do, but web design kind of work would be sweet too.

Are you going for any specific kind of job (obviously something musically based due to you being at AIM, but... teaching, performance, sound tech...)?
