I'm getting the Pink Floyd and Syd Barrett DVD for x-mas hopefully.
Has anyone ever did Echoes with 2001 A Space Odessey (sp?) ? It's awesome. If you haven't done it, and are a fan of the Wizard of Oz with DSOTM, you'll definitly like this one way more. Simply start playing Echoes when the last part of 2001 comes on. I believe it's called "Jupiter and Beyond". The story behind Echoes is Stanley Kubrick asked Pink Floyd to write a song for this part of the movie, to kind of go along with the last scene. (trippiest scene of all-time) Dave wanted to, Roger didn't, so it didn't happen. After seeing the movie and it's success, Roger regreted not writing a song. They wrote a song, not insync with the last scene (I don't think, but it goes along with it so perfectly that it's creepy). Thus, Echoes. :thumb: |
Just say the Aussie PF, they were GREAT!!
Anyways, for those PF-guitar guys out there, the one at the end of 'Pigs (Three Different Ones)' is really good, I suggest you check it out. :thumb: |
Do you mean the Australian Pink Floyd?
It's actually a different Floyd cover band. They've came here to play at local bars a few times. I don't think they've played as big as venues as the Australian Floyd. |
Should I buy that David Gilmour Acoustic Concert DVD?
Yes. Yes. Yes! YES! YEEESSSS!!!!! It's really really good. |

Ha, ok ok. What songs are featured though? |
I'm getting The Wall DVD for Christmas as well! As well as the CD album of Ummagumma. So know I can find out what you guys are talking about with the live album. :p
I also want to get The Wall DVD, it looks awesome. |

So, only Echoes works? |

I've only seen short bits of it besides the video of ABItW 2, but it looks like it will freak me out. |
I've just discovered the awesomeness that is Not Now John. Amazing song-I'd never really given The Final Cut a fair chance before. I am also listening to Obscured by Clouds more now-very good album.

What do people enjoy more. The Movie or the Album? |
Tough to say for me. The movie really helped my understanding of the album, and its pretty cool. However, they seriously **** up some of the songs in the movie (like Mother) Some of my friends prefer the movie, some the album. Maybe if you can find it at a video store, rent it, and then see if you wanna buy it?

No, I've seen the movie I think its great I was just wondering what you thought.:) |
movie is nice......the abulm comes quite incomplete without it
|
Oh... sorry, misunderstood you. I dunno. They're really different, so its hard to compare. I mean, from a purely musical standpoint, the album is better. But the movie does have the whole visual aspect as a head start.

Yeah that's true. Also in the movie Bob Geldof sings In the Flesh? and In the Flesh |
Yeah. Mother was absolutely butchered in the movie, though.
Yeah. Mother was absolutely butchered in the movie, though.
Yeah. Too bad. They also added in When the Tigers broke free to the movie and its on the Final Cut,. |
I don't raelly like When the Tigers Broke Free. Not a huge fan of The Final Cut for the most part.
|
I have not heard much of the Final Cut or the Division Bell. I hear mixed things about them, so what are you opinions?
|

Well the movie has that one extra song after Empty Spaces that I really like but is not on the album, but then doesn't the Album have a few songs that the DVD doesn't contain as well? Well, either way, their both essential for the Pink Floyd fan. :) |
Time to pretend I know what I'm talking about, the movie is more artistically appealing...
|
Who cought PF Off The Record? Uncle Joe Benson does OTR on many rock stations throughout North America (maybe europe). Anyways I cought them on it on my rock station last night (Chom 97.7) it was very interesting.
Although they devoted 45 minutes of an hour the The Wall and like one sentence to WYWH and Animals. |
^^ I think cause its The Wall's 25 anniversary. WYWH and especially Animals far surpass the wall imo.

Fnal Cut is pretty good if you like the wall. Buy the division bell, you won't regret it. |
