And aguing about religion in high school is pointless, it accomplishes nothing.

AIRIC 05-16-2006 03:58 PM

Exactly.

And as much as you say that you "made people think", all they were thinking about was how stupid your philosophy on life probably sounds to them.

guns_of_brixton 05-16-2006 03:58 PM

Pretty much. It can be an enertaining classtime waster, though.

Or how much of an angry person you are. Wasting your time hating a religion or people of that religion because of a few is a waste of time and energy and will have a negative effect. Let people believe what they want to believe.

Counting ceiling tiles was more entertaining for me. Which we actually did once in one of my classes. My friends and I just stared at the ceiling trying to figure out the pattern of these dots/holes that were in the ceiling tiles. It provided endless fun.

AIRIC 05-16-2006 04:09 PM

There is no pattern.

DaveToopes 05-16-2006 04:15 PM

Glitterati 05-16-2006 05:10 PM

Hey kids.

Next week me and a bunch of friends are gonna go see the new X-Men together. No girls allowed, of course.

AIRIC 05-16-2006 05:14 PM

Sweet.

Next weekend my parents are leaving Sunday morning and getting back sometime Monday so I'm having a small get together.

SantaDuJuan 05-16-2006 05:37 PM

Yeah well!

Me and my guitar plan on having a lot of alone time if you get my drift.

Anti-Prefix 05-16-2006 05:41 PM

I plan nothing. Well, very little...

SantaDuJuan 05-16-2006 05:44 PM

Yeah.
You're all about Anarchy.
Let me show you how Anarchy told me my old bestfriend is an idiot.

I'm an Anarchist.
I don't think Anarchy would work in todays society.
There would be too much chaos.
I don't want chaos.
I want peace.
Some people probably think that doesn't make me a true Anarchist, but I think it shouldn't be about what can happen, but what you believe in.

Am I the only person that thinks that makes him look like a true idiot?

ViciousLove 05-16-2006 06:03 PM

No, I agree with you.

Brain Toad 05-16-2006 06:06 PM

he's tr00 anarkee

ViciousLove 05-16-2006 06:08 PM

Haha! But seriously, isn't what you want the same thing as what you believe in?

SantaDuJuan 05-16-2006 06:21 PM

Yeah, but the kid's like "I believe in it but I don't think it would work"
That's just like saying "I believe in God I just don't think he created us"

ViciousLove 05-16-2006 06:23 PM

Weird.

SantaDuJuan 05-16-2006 06:25 PM

Yeah.
Sometimes I think I'm to critcle of people, but it just seems like people believe in things and then don't know the BASIC knowledge of it you know?

asdf 05-16-2006 06:28 PM

My only gripe with religion is when it's forced upon me. I have absolutely no problem with people believing what they want to believe, as long as they don't have their heart set on making it my belief.

And I went to catholic school for 10 years. It's hard to avoid getting religion forced down your throat. But I have to say, I'm glad I went. I have a good understanding of the religion, I payed attention in church... and I decided it was not for me.

ViciousLove 05-16-2006 06:32 PM

I went to public school but I was raised Catholic too. I can't stand people trying to force stuff on me either. People should believe what they want, but if they go around saying they believe in something, they should know what they're talking about.

SantaDuJuan 05-16-2006 06:33 PM

I went to a Catholic school also, and I can never change the fact I've gone to church every Sunday for the last 15 years.
Been raised Catholic is so/so.
Betta than being raised Muslim.
=P

asdf 05-16-2006 06:37 PM

I was raised Agnostic, but sent to catholic school. My dad says "know your enemies" as a joke, but really he would've supported me if I decided that catholicism or any other religion was for me.

The principal of the school would call my house demanding more money because we weren't catholic, saying that my parents were raising my brother and I wrong. This really got to me.

For years as a kid I debated. I would pray occasionally. I wondered if there really was a god. I never followed blindly either side. I enjoyed reading the bible, and listening in church. There's many good things to be learned from some of it (some of it, however, has been interpreted to some crazy degrees).

And with those 10 years of debating, and now 3 years without going to church, I still have no idea if there is a God or not. Agnosticism seems fit for me. How could I possibly say one way or another? there is no irrifutable fact for either side.

Brain Toad 05-16-2006 06:39 PM
Yeah, but the kid's like "I believe in it but I don't think it would work"
That's just like saying "I believe in God I just don't think he created us"
Both of those are logical explainations.

You can believe in anarchy but feel the world isn't ready for change. Jello Biafra has believed that for years.

And you can believe in a God without believing in creationism. Most of the founding fathers believed in a God who put the spark of life that caused evolution rather than creating man from dust or whatever.

Culture Shock 05-16-2006 06:41 PM

Yeah, well since the concept of anarchy naturally resists definition it is not surprising that so many people misunderstand it completely. You can't call yourself an anarchist and still not try to live accordingly or strive to promote it. It is another thing to simply think that it is a nice but unrealistic idea.
