and thursday and underoath weren't?
a lot of punks act as if there is this huge difference between "scene" screamo and "real" screamo, but there really isn't. saysha aren't profound geniuses compared to the blood brothers.
agreed with everything you said but this so much scene "screamo" is just metalcore that came 6 years too late + synths and autotune |

agreed with everything you said but this so much scene "screamo" is just metalcore that came 6 years too late + synths and autotune
backed EDIT @ mappu: idk, i dont give a shit about either of those bands |
momentary sounds like trash talk in a good way
|
@mappy well if you're talking 2012 but I was talking ~ 00. like underOATH, An Albatross, The Blood Brothers, 7 Angels 7 Plagues Aiden, Daughters, The Plot to Blow Up The Eiffel Tower, Holy Molar, Hopesfall, Arab on Radar and whatever else happened to be viewed as "scene" at the time, or looking back.

Nobody really called any of that screamo other than Underoath, Blood Brothers, and Hopesfall. Nobody even knews who The Plot To Blow Up The Eiffel Tower or Arab On Radar was back then, unless they were west coast kids. I'm the scene master, do not debate. |
sass thread
  |
@mappy didn't say anyone called it screamo, I said scene. sass bands have and always will be viewed as "scene". and it's not like saysha is zomg so much deeper and moar diy than Hopesfall or any other "scene" band.
and IDK in the US but outside of it (eg in Europe) the west coast is what we're watching. east coast bands were/are far more obscure here. |
East coast 4 life son.
But Saetia's lyrics are definitely a lot more thought provoking than Hopesfalls. |
East coast 4 life son.

not really
even more pretentious *maybe* saysha vs hopesfall is a super hard choice btw zomg I think I'll go with IV IV IV IV |
Hopesfall's lyrics aren't good, and having above a cursory understanding of the English language doesn't make you pretentious.
|
haha

"my searching eyes have never been so intrigued to see you
i guess you found a way to make ten minutes last forever with each passing moment we drift further away... closer to our chosen paths but i can't help remembering what was... what might have been but i have been warned by those who have passed this way before and to them i am grateful and as for you i am also grateful... and i pray you find the peace you have been longing for" yeah, not gonna lie, those lyrics are pretty bad "i guess you found a way to make ten minutes last forever" was one of my favorite lines i any song ever when i was like sixteen |

"I bleed onto page for you where diction has lost all it's meaning,
And secrets fall from lips like dying petals in a forgotten garden. Believing language we speak in tongues deceiving ourselves, My heart whispers in forms that twenty years of reason and cognition have rendered useless. If only you could hear what i have seen for aeons before this zero. To see our system as a void, to believe in ourselves immune -- To never feel our wings melting. We are all spirits trapped and dying. trapped and dying." Yeah, go figure, Billy Werner, the dude who studied poetry is better at writing, weird. |
so melodramatic but i still <3
|
Yeah, his lyrics in Saetia were angsty as hell, but still very well written. His lyrics in Hot Cross are fucking genius though.
|
yeah, hot cross lyrics are way better than saetia lyrics
|
Fortune Teller is still my "about me" or whatever on facebook, and has been since like 2007 I think.

IV IV IV IV
aside from the distant shadow, there is nothing left |

|
"Forgetting" will probably end up blowing all the speakers I own
|
aside from the distant shadow, there is nothing left
that's the best song on the album, imo i just like their old style more tbh |
"Fly By Night" is my favourite thus far but IDK this album is perfect
|
It's good, still like Last City and Dark Mountain the most out of their material.
Vermillion River gives me such a hard on. |
IV is what they've been working towards man this is a magnum opus of epic proportions
it destroys everything that ever existed |
im just gonna post the lyrics to in love with an apparition f you guys
|
Pg. 99 is so undeniable. I'm so mad at myself that I went through that weird phase in like 08-09 that I would never jam out to them.
|
boring band
for lyrics I'd go with I Hate Myself and The Pine |
dude
|
Dude, Pg. 99 is one of the best skram ever. |

"can hardly move on my own. nightmares are now down to losing the lid to my cap. you're so young and you just sit there in your seat. trade me bodies now that i've become so stuck in this nest. i've become a burden to all of you. i want life. more like you i want more life. you can't call this life. put me to sleep for good. at least then i can talk and walk in heaven with my son."
oh cool, bad suicide lyrics the pine is boring as shit, imo |
i hate myself lyrics are p boss tbh
|
The Pine is mediocre in every aspect, gonna be honest.
Circle Takes The Square has the best lyrics, when it isn't Drew lapsing into 17 year old pretension and angst. |
Ihm have some of the best lyrics ever.

Fallow fields have fallen, sallow, sallow
Victim to encryption, disclosing an unspoken plea. And the stars sang of the scorpion sun. to impale impaling impaled who for mercy begged for drought and blight. to impale impaling impaled. planted in the shadow of a new found impermanence our new pyramids fashioned in cloth and the stars sang of the scorpion sun. to inspire, ventilate, increase volume, expiration ventilated deceased. threatened by the slightest breeze to impale impaling impaled threatened by the slightest breeze, the winds are stirring buried under miles of a fabric fallen hollow constellation prediction shallow flat forget-me-not (dissertion) no goodbyes, just carbon released in wind resting fiercely on an early afternoon facade, ash released the stars have risen, elevated in our loss. And the winds have risen wearing fiercely on our cloth facade horizons grown a sickly, sickly pale to impale impaling impaled threatened by the slightest breeze and grown a sickly pale(insert a single method) parse a tense a perfect past(insert a single method) and is this choking proof that clutching hasn't let me go? we're sustained by the corpse of a fallen constellation. song still gives me a massive huj |
