Yeah Am I Evil is probably one the funnest jam songs too...i love that one and Sad But True

Freezing Moon 01-04-2005 09:13 PM
to metal militia:

You've never tried the 4 horsemen??? That's my fav 'tallica song to play.

Also, Am I Evil is a very easy song, try to finish it :thumb:
When you get that down try playing Mechanix by Megadeth. The speed is amazing!

btoto 01-04-2005 10:22 PM

^Oh, actually I love Mechanix more. I tried to learn the solo, it's way more interesting that 4 horsemen. But there're only 22 frets on my guitar so I have to play it a bit different. I try to keep the main themes though. :thumb:

Made my drive shaft crank
Made my pistons bulge
Made my ball bearing melt from the heaaaaaaat

Am i evil is very fun to play. I love that intro solo and the few harmonics before the main riff comes in.

Yeah I like that song better too.

It's like Metallica on fast foreward, even though I'd say Four Horseman has more developed riffs than Mechanix.

Dave flies through that solo!

btoto 01-04-2005 10:38 PM

^Well, frankly speaking, my fav version of that song is The Mechanix from No Life Till Leather Demo (1982). James' voice is so funny there, the guitar and drums sound very good for a demo tape and Dave shows an awesome solo there.......not as good as in 'deth version but better than 4 Horsemen :thumb:

JACKROXYOU 01-05-2005 08:40 AM

four horse men is great

but i was in a bestbuy and saw a "long live the fourhorsemen" cd in the metallica section. i found out (from looking on the back) it was a tribute album

is it good?

i hate tribute albums. they're other bands that wanna be metallica. they play metallica songs and rarely do they sound good.

my opinion is don't buy it

sad but true is so much fun to play along with and/or jam to

the part in one, with the alt. picking, is also pretty fun

btoto 01-05-2005 10:02 AM

^Oh, I don't like playing Sad But True. It's so boring, especially if you're the lead guitarist (like me), not the singer :upset:

*wishes he had a nice voice*

Shred Danson 01-05-2005 10:06 AM

Surprisingly, the whole Master of Puppets album is a good album to jam to if you can do death metal growls. I've got a Watch Them Die-type voice, and it goes with "Master of Puppets"...

btoto 01-05-2005 10:16 AM

^man, I hate growling ! what happened to singing????

screams, growls, barks, farts..........does anyone think about normal singing these days???

No offence to you, InColdBlood :thumb:

Sad But Trues amazing to play, especially for lead guitarists. Although its stupid to think of your position like that... Play for the band, not for yourself...

Ahhh, you cant murder metallica with death metal vocals...

Oh, none taken, dude. I do do a little singing, but I'm not that great at singing. Growling just fits the music a little better.

Trust me, it sounds OK.

Black_metal_sephiroth 01-05-2005 10:37 AM

Metallica became a crap pop band after ...and justice for all. Everything they've done since is utter bollocks

Well garage inc is good. Good classic thrash and heavy metal.

Burdcheese 01-05-2005 10:38 AM

^^Thanks for that valuable insight

Yeah - I can see that working for all Metallica's up to AJFA actually.

DisposableHeroes 01-05-2005 10:43 AM

Dont worry about that gimp Burdcheese, hes probably just another one of these accounts that some one keeps making 235626 times to try annoy people.

i was only stating my opinion

Burdcheese 01-05-2005 10:46 AM

Listen to a Britney spears album then come back here and call Metallica a "crap pop band"

It may only be an opinion, but its the most unenlightened thing I've read all day

Burdcheese 01-05-2005 10:47 AM
Dont worry about that gimp Burdcheese, hes probably just another one of these accounts that some one keeps making 235626 times to try annoy people.
I'm not worried, I just try and keep the thread clear from this kind of nonsense

DisposableHeroes 01-05-2005 10:47 AM
i was only stating my opinion
sorry, its just we get a lot of idiots in here who are the same people, just on different accounts. I apologise as it seems you could be a genuine member

Black_metal_sephiroth 01-05-2005 10:51 AM

Well metallica started to think about their wallets rather than staying true

give a wolf a home 01-05-2005 10:53 AM

Is anybody else not looking forward to the next album as it will be the first time Rob Trujilo will play on an album with them. He's been well broken in with the Summer Sanitarium tour and the world tour afterwords.
Given that he's a finger player and Metallica sound awesome live nowadays with him onstage and that they're fired up by his presence in the band it can only be a good thing.
The bass solo I saw Rob trujilo play in Dublin in June last year was incredible, it sounded like an earth quake going through the big outdoor venue, all slapped and tapped ending in a little bit of the bass solo from orion. Pure Class!!

Black_metal_sephiroth 01-05-2005 10:56 AM

Hopefully their next album will be more metal than what they've played since the black album. An album more in the vein of ride the lightning would be welcomed by me.

Ummm... that doesnt make sense. First you say youre not looking forward to it, then you say hes amazing...
Well metallica started to think about their wallets rather than staying true
Metallica never said they were always going to play thrash, James Hetfield has said since day one they didnt want to be thrash metal.

Exodus avatar I see (noticed the conjoined babies before the writing :thumb: )

DisposableHeroes 01-05-2005 11:04 AM

Exodus are rather awesome Fernandes, your avatar is pretty neat!
Metallica never said they were always going to play thrash, James Hetfield has said since day one they didnt want to be thrash metal.
I never knew that. What does metallica want to play then? because they only changed their style because bob **** made suggestions on how to get more money. Metallica have clearly stated they'd stay true and never sell out.

DisposableHeroes 01-05-2005 11:06 AM

The only thing i've heard that they said they were never gonna do was make a video, which is a pretty stupid thing to say

Fernandes Power 01-05-2005 11:09 AM

Metallica wanted/wants to play Metallica... thats it, thats their genre of music and the answer you will get off Hetfield and co.

I dont think they ever did state that, nor do they believe themselves to ever have sold out...

Edit: Thanks DH :thumb:
The only thing i've heard that they said they were never gonna do was make a video, which is a pretty stupid thing to say
At the time it wasn't stupid at all, all the pop acts were doing it and metalheads didn't want to be a part of anything pop.
It doesn't matter so much now though because even a misanthropic band like darkthrone have talked about making a video. (either fenriz or nocturno culto said this during an interview) That if they were to make one it'd be minimal and grim.

DisposableHeroes 01-05-2005 11:16 AM

you have a good point there on the video thing, but as for the Bob Rock thing...well for me its like he says: "anyone whos a proper Metallica fan would know i would not be able to force anything on those guys"(something along those lines anyway) The most Rock probably did was suggest ideas, which is what producers do, they get the full potential out of the band. And produce of course

Fernandes: No problem

Black_metal_sephiroth 01-05-2005 11:16 AM

Oh yeah metallica collaborated with some rapper. enough said

DisposableHeroes 01-05-2005 11:20 AM

your point being? Aerosmith did too, so did Anthrax. Well, bands that rapped

Burdcheese 01-05-2005 11:22 AM

and this rapper would be?

DisposableHeroes 01-05-2005 11:23 AM

i think his name is Swiss Beats, or something along those lines. I think if Metallica really wanted the $$ they would have collaborated with some one incredibly well known

Black_metal_sephiroth 01-05-2005 11:27 AM
your point being? Aerosmith did too, so did Anthrax. Well, bands that rapped
i know but the metallica one screamed nu metal at me.

fenderbender89 01-05-2005 11:27 AM
