That shouldn't be a problem. Pentium III, 1GB RAM....
It worked just fine when I put in my 80GB drive last time. I just wanted to upgrade my second drive to a 250GB drive, but it's not recognizing it at all.
Anybody here decent with computers? I can't figure out why my computer wont recognize the new harddrive I've put in it.
How old is the motherboard? If the motherboard is too old it might not recognize the newer hardware that you put in. This happens a lot if the technology of the newer device was developed after the motherboard was made. For example, there is a new kind of RAM now and any motherboard that was made before it came out will not recognize it.

Have you removed the jumper on the rear of the device to make it a slave?

Also you might want to go to:

control panel -> Administrative tools -> computer management -> storage (right hand side of the window) -> disk management

from there it should show up the drive, and you should be able to format it so it becomes recognised by the machine.

FunkMetalBass 11-09-2006 01:54 PM

Lowsound: M motherboard is relatively new. No more than a year and a half old.

Hobbes: Yes, it's set up as a slave. Let me see if I can format it that way.

FunkMetalBass 11-09-2006 01:56 PM

Okay, I initialized the disk and now it's online but is unallocated.

Do I need to partition it or something? If so, primary partitioning?

Just a primary partition unless you want to split it into two with separate drive letters. Then just select the format type (NTFS is best) and let her rip.

It will take a while though to do a proper format rather than a quick one.

Oh, so THAT'S what that does. I get it now.

<3 @ ebe

Thanks. I labeled it as Local Disk (P:)
So now I have A, C, D, E, F(removable), G(removable) and P drives.

Sweet.

lemoley 11-09-2006 02:29 PM

i have upgraded the pickups (Dimarzio) and slapped decent strings on it, bridge etc is fine but still i disagree with you

Thonk 11-09-2006 02:30 PM
I'd take the schecter.
The Schecter doesn't need to be upgraded Justin.

British Kid 11-09-2006 02:32 PM

lemoley 11-09-2006 02:34 PM
