as a maiden fan, i think of this as my duty:

Wow, she's pretty hot. It seems there's nothing Steve can make that doesn't turn out well.

Except "Quest For Fire," oh man.

Lord Abortion 07-24-2005 04:08 PM
i found a website about the best this and that in rock, it was quite daft.
http://www.digitaldreamdoor.com/pages/music0.html

best vocalists-#9 bruce

best guitarists-#74 H
#75 dave
#144 janick

best bassists-#22 steve

best drummers-#39 nicko

best albums-#69 notb
#120 ssoass

somewhat dissapointing
i signed up for the boards, checked a bunch of their polls

dont worry that site is full of ****, under best soloist they have brian may of queen ahead of adrain lol

and under best solo's they have like 3 maiden ones ranked highest at 55 while having a bajillion hendrix solo's none of which i really think are that deserving

the only impressive bout the sight is how dave gilmour gets a lot cred

under best rock duo/team

adrain and murray are 2nd!!!! but the guys ahead are some allman brothers **** lol

basically i just wanted to let you know that they are full of **** and we are right to think of Maiden as the greatest ever :)

I don't think Brian May is the best soloist ever, but he is MUCH MUCH MUCH better than people give him credit for. He is actually a really good guitarist. Eric Clapton himself said "Brian can do things with the guitar that I would never dream of being able to do." I love the flamenco guitar in Innuendo too. But I think Adrian is better.
My last attempt died, but how do you guys think Bruce Dickinson and Rob Halford compare? Both poms, both awesome singers and both often regarded as the greatest metal singers ever. I think Dickinson is better, but I wouldn't mind hearing your opinions.

Thunder Fingers 07-25-2005 06:06 AM

I hate Halford.. his voice is REALY anoying... for instance "Breaking the Law" What kinda Crap is that?!
I have the ability but not the equipment lol I think im getting drum mics soon though so ill get back to you then
ashman 07-25-2005 06:41 AM

While we're talking about Judas Priest; Has anyone noticed how Running Wild sounds quite similra to the Wickerman?

conspiracy ++

Deth 07-25-2005 07:45 AM

Running Wild owns.

To HeavyBassDude, British Steel is certainly not the best album to show off Halford.

Thunder Fingers 07-25-2005 08:22 AM

Previously known as "eddie-the-trooper" ;)

for some reason people still call me eddie...

That was Steve Howe of Yes playing the spanish guitar part, but Brian did play the coolass solo after that.

who prefers Ghost of the Navigator live to studio version?

DisposableHeroes 07-25-2005 02:35 PM

I only have the live version(Rock in Rio) but it still sounds pretty dam fine

Deth 07-25-2005 02:36 PM

I feel that in Quest For Fire, Bruce is really straining, which I think hurts the song.

Dannyboy15 07-25-2005 02:46 PM

The live version of Ghost of the Navigator is significantly faster than the album version. but I think it sounds better fast.

Deth 07-25-2005 02:51 PM

I'm kicking myself now. I had the chance to get Bruce Dickinson's Alive album (3 discs) for 13 pounds.

Some of the songs were repeated because it was multiple shows, but still one hell of a deal.

Yeah I got that album, I love Tears of a Dragon on the Alive in Studio A disc. It's great, especially the funky, reggae type bit.

podbassist 07-25-2005 04:36 PM

So yesterday i got my paycheck and ecided that instead of having the burned cd's of iron maiden i needed to get their real ones. So i went to tower records and got killers, piece of mind, number of the beast, powerslave, somewhere in time, and fear of the dark. I also got the rock in rio dvd, and the early days dvd. And i got a poster. so im stoked that i actually have the real albums now.

Check out the Ripper. Most awesome scream ever (at the beginning). Nice vocals throughout.
Dammit. My respect for Brian May has now dropped. Did Steve Howe or Brian write the flamenco part though because I can still respect there, if he wrote it?

Thunder Fingers 07-26-2005 03:59 AM

I saw them at Ozzfest last night. Amazing. Bruce Dickinson, and everyone know how to make an exciting the concert, between jumping and running all around and waving the British flag. One of the best performances I've ever seen. I was a little bummed they didnt play Invaders of Flash of the Blade, but I guess they can't play everything.

Deth 07-27-2005 12:07 PM

They don't play those two songs anyway, they aren't very popular (though very good).

What was the set list by the way?

I dont think they've ever played Invaders. They didnt on the NOTB tour, and I cant imagine them playing any other time.

My brother was at Ozzfest and said one of the guitarists threw his guitar 20 feet in the air and caught it perfectly, as well as doing windmills and other stunts. Which one would that be?
