BludgeonySteve 10-14-2004 10:54 PM

clown_phobia 10-15-2004 12:36 AM

do the grunge bands count as classic rock?

BurnLikeABlackNight 10-15-2004 03:21 AM

Anybody ever hear of Atomic Rooster? They're an old classic rock/ folk rock group around sixties/early seventies. They got some amazing tunes. Sounds like the music from Monthy Python Holy Grail when Lancelot is legging it up to the castle. "Dun du da dun, dun du da dun (bit of flute flute), guitar riff, dun du da dun" that kinda stuff. Really good.

When did the Achilles Club become the Anti-Me Club.

The version of Sparks on Live at Leeds is phenomenal, one of the best live songs I've ever heard probably.

Paranoidd 10-15-2004 08:09 AM

I know it's not classic rock, but I snagged a Jeff Buckley Live In Chicago DVD the other day...oh...man...it's so good. Any Buckley fan must get it.
When did the Achilles Club become the Anti-Me Club.
Rooting for the Yankees is like rooting for the House in Blackjack. Souless.
do the grunge bands count as classic rock?
sorry, but that qualifys as one of my top ten dumbest questions ever.

BludgeonySteve 10-15-2004 01:39 PM

It was a good question. Late 80s is when it started so it could possibly be classic.

Paranoidd 10-15-2004 01:41 PM

True. We count GnR as classic, why not some grunge?

BludgeonySteve 10-15-2004 01:42 PM

80s hard rock is classic because it's hard rock and fairly classic. Grunge isn't the classic rock style so it can never be classic rock. It will be classic grunge one day though :thumb:

Paranoidd 10-15-2004 01:43 PM

Yup. Although I can't imagine my classic rock station playing Mudhoney or Alice in Chains...OR Nirvana for that matter.

RockAndRoll 10-15-2004 01:52 PM

I wonder what will be played on the radio 20, 50 years from now.

wanton 10-15-2004 01:53 PM

To much classic's in one post? :p

BludgeonySteve 10-15-2004 01:54 PM

:( wow that is alot.

edit: this thread is now the largest in rock and metal :)

Paranoidd 10-15-2004 02:02 PM

Word. We 0wn.

I'm making a prediction that Black Sabbath wins the final poll, due to metalheads. They'll be the Metallica of the classic rock poll.

Dark Hero 10-15-2004 02:05 PM

This thread has been around since March.

BludgeonySteve 10-15-2004 02:06 PM

I don't know. I think Zeppelin will win because of the n00bz0rz.

Paranoidd 10-15-2004 02:07 PM

Well, Zep and Sabbath will definitely go far.

BludgeonySteve 10-15-2004 02:10 PM

We all knew who would win the metal poll from the start. And we all know who will probably win this poll.

But it's the process that matters. i want to see how far bands like The Doors, CCR, Queen, Neil Young and others like them will do.

RockAndRoll 10-15-2004 02:11 PM

Queen should do quite well.

RockAndRoll 10-15-2004 02:13 PM

I'm surprised that Guns 'N Roses are ahead of The experience though.

Paranoidd 10-15-2004 02:17 PM

That's the n00b factor for you.

Woodstock 10-15-2004 02:26 PM

I voted for Sabbath, almost chose The Byrds.

And I pray GnR will not beat JHE

RockAndRoll 10-15-2004 02:26 PM

But I figured there'd be lots of those for jimi too.

jpj 10-15-2004 02:29 PM

I voted Rush. It was a tough decision, but decided Geddy was better than Geezer.

Woodstock 10-15-2004 02:42 PM
I voted Rush. It was a tough decision, but decided Geddy was better than Geezer.
  I dont like Rush that much.

jpj 10-15-2004 02:49 PM

Oh yea! Well I don't like old, fat, and bald hippies with fumanchus!*

*Is a lie, actually loves them.

Fear no more, for I have a better pic.

Seafroggys 10-15-2004 03:00 PM

I feel ashamed. I voted Sabbath, but I love them so much! I feel like a noob!

I really need to get around to more groups though.

jpj 10-15-2004 03:05 PM

Are they any bands in particular? If so we may be able to give you some album suggestions.
