i can't stand that girl's vocals.

jrowa001 02-01-2008 10:28 PM

i think shes decent, better than some of the male vocals in metalcore

trust me, I mainly was on the Becoming the Archetype forums before recently joining here, and there was many a thread about the state of solid state (pun not intended)

you're right, the only ones to me that stand out (in a good way) are BTA and ABR

The rest are all super ultra meh

just looky here: http://www.solidstaterecords.com/artists.php

jrowa001 02-01-2008 10:43 PM

yeah BTA and Underoath (Define the Great Line) are the only bands i really listen to on a consistent basis. i used to really like He Is Legend but not so much anymore and As Cities Burn have a couple good songs

i am the robots 02-02-2008 03:19 AM

As Cities Burn has two CDs of amazing material.

And theyre like, the best live act.

Son, I Loved You At Your Darkest is like, king.

jrowa001 02-02-2008 08:21 AM

both their cds are ok, but just something about them keeps me from really liking them

BTA=win live, but their new CD isnt as good.

ABR's is great live jusst because of the drummer.

HIL is kinda out there for me. the world that they paint in their songs is kinda scary...

Underoath is good, and ACB not so much

it probably has something to do with the fact that they're overflowing with homoeroticism.

TimJim 02-02-2008 10:31 AM

that too

Nepenthe 02-02-2008 10:46 AM

i like thus from my lips and bloodsucker, but every other song kind of sucks

Dimmu Burger 02-02-2008 03:13 PM

I like Oh, Sleeper even though they are kinda generic.

beans 02-02-2008 03:26 PM

ive been digging them for a while now, vices like vipers is an awesome song

Dimmu Burger 02-02-2008 03:28 PM
ive been digging them for a while now, vices like vipers is an awesome song
That's the first track right? If so I agree.

jrowa001 02-02-2008 03:30 PM

i still havent re-listened to them. i remember a few months before their album came out i listened to one of their songs and i didnt like it, but i have heard some good comments on them here on sputnik.

NemesisDivina 02-02-2008 03:31 PM

oh, sleeper is so generic it's painful. i listened to vices like vipers and some other song (something about arrows or archers or something, idk.) and they both sucked big time.

beans 02-02-2008 03:32 PM
That's the first track right? If so I agree.
yes its the first track and we are the archers is good too

Dimmu Burger 02-02-2008 03:45 PM

Yeah they're a decent band if you don't mind a lack of originality, sometimes I am in the mood for that.

beans 02-02-2008 03:53 PM

very true

DJTeeLay 02-02-2008 06:26 PM
haste the day's vocals irritate me :/

ugh emmure :/
The old vox?
I have much more range than he does, but my high-pitch sounds like him. Not exactly, but you can tell he's an influence, but you can also tell Zao is his influence. XD

Sorry for my misspelling.

beans 02-02-2008 06:27 PM

i think the new HTD vox have much more range that the older stuff

DJTeeLay 02-02-2008 06:31 PM

Not on "Pressure the Hinges", but I saw them recently and Keach has really improved.
Their new CD will be much better than everything besides "That They May Know You."

"That They May Know You" is Haste the Day's only original and gold release.
Everything is just sorta "meh."

Dimmu Burger 02-02-2008 06:32 PM

I liked their first Solid State release and the most recent one, but the middle one is bad.

beans 02-02-2008 06:34 PM

i feel the opposite, pressure the hinges has a few different variations of screams, and from burning bridges and when everything falls, he stayed in the same region the entire time he's screaming.

Dimmu Burger 02-02-2008 06:36 PM

I think it's a different guy on each album, or at least two different singers.

encmetalhead 02-02-2008 07:04 PM

PTH had the new singer everything before that had the better singer

Dimmu Burger 02-02-2008 07:05 PM
PTH had the new singer everything before that had the better singer
Oh ok. Yeah the new guy has an odd stage presence. Kinda awkward at times.

beans 02-03-2008 02:35 AM
I think it's a different guy on each album, or at least two different singers.
the guy who does the clean singing is the guitarist, the screamer has changed, it was the same guy on BB and when everything falls but they got their new guy on pressure the hinges
