Broken Arrow 10-06-2005 02:09 PM

In terms of voice that is.

standard 10-06-2005 05:44 PM

Broken Arrow 10-06-2005 06:21 PM

I have this David Gilmour in Concert CD my friend gave me, and it has this BONE CHILLING version of Shine On You Crazy Diamond Acoustic.

Seriously, I got shivers listening to it.

I think it's also the tour where someone shouts out "PLAY SOMETHING FROM ANIMALS" and Gilmour responds "No, we'll be here all night!"

Edit: Sweet, Pulse comes out on my birthday. I think I know what I'm getting.

What days your birthday? I've been waiting for Paulse for over a year now to come out on DVD.

And I have the David Gilmour DVD too, it's awesome. WYWH, SOYCD, and CN are absolutely amazing.

I love both of the SOYCD's on the DVD. The choir adds so much feeling to 6-9.

magicbus 10-06-2005 09:04 PM

Burning Bridges:

Dave sings the first verse. Rich sings the second verse starting with "ancient bones". They both do harmonies on the next few lines starting with "magic visions stirring". Then guitar solo and instrumental section. Coming back into the vocals are both of them doing harmonies again (Dave does the higher ones). Then instrumental until the end of the song.

Hope that helps :thumb:

Me encanta Pink Floyd mucho. Me toca que no otra musica puede. Escucho a Meddle ahora.

Is that the Meltdown concert?

I have that one. It's awesome.

DeusExMachina 10-07-2005 11:01 AM
Originally it was just Gilmour. They just traded off verses for Live 8.
Ehh... no. Waters sang the verse for CN on the recording. Gilmour sang the chorus.

My birthday is today. And I'm seeing Paul McCartney tomorrow. It's very exciting.

Happy B-day

BTW: he was talking about Wish you were here

standard 10-07-2005 01:18 PM

When he talks his voice seems deeper than Waters... Well now atleast, in recent interviews.

Soothing would work better. :)
Ehh... no. Waters sang the verse for CN on the recording. Gilmour sang the chorus.
No, he meant Wish You Were Here. CN is probably the most famous use of their two different voices.

moaner 10-07-2005 03:03 PM
I don't think I've ever heard the two talk, but I always hear Gilmour's voice as being higher. Soothing is probably a better description though, now I think of it.
Dave's voice is of fairly average depth, whereas Roger has a very deep voice. they talk quite a lot on the live at pompeii directors cut (with the mini-documentary on darkside)

I love those parts. They seemed to really goof around a lot.

does PF have any dvds out of their concerts back in the 70's??? cos so far i have only seen fairly recent concerts

BigTrav415 10-07-2005 04:18 PM

I was just about to make a post about Live At Pompeii and how I wanted to get it. It's not an actual concert with an audience, but it's Floyd playing in Pompeii live (...). I've seen bits, it's amazing.

I have live at pompeii director's cut on dvd. It is very good, but don't go for it if you like later pink floyd. Everything on Pompeii is pre dark side of the moon. Echoes is pure brilliance.

1. Echoes (part 1)
2. Careful with that axe, Eugene
3. A saucerful of secrets
4. One of these days
5. Set the Controls for the heart of the Sun
6. Mademoiselle Nobs (pretty much Seamus, but no lyrics)
7. Echoes (part 2)

I think that's those are the tracks in order, I might have gotten them a little out of order though.

I'm not sure, my friend just handed to me a CD labeled "David Gilmour In Concert" and told me to listen to it.

The version of Saucerful of Secrets is great on Pompeii.

Riva 10-08-2005 12:13 AM

Speaking of great live versions, how awesome is Learning To Fly on DSOT?

Ummm

PATGOD wouldn't be what it was if Syd wasn't a druggie, alot of the creativity probably wouldn't have been there in my opinion. But I know what you mean, it's sad that such a young artist with such great potential ruined his life with LSD.
