It's almost all monologues and interludes and ****. The songs that are actual Manowar RULE, but still.

I'll post back when I give it another listen tomorrow.

Shattered_Future 02-22-2007 11:35 PM

Only Rhapsody is allowed to have interludes.

Them, and maybe Bal-Sagoth. But they take care of interludes during the songs.

Tyler 02-22-2007 11:37 PM

Actually, this new Manowar suffers from the same stuff the new Rhapsody OF FIRE does.

Shattered_Future 02-22-2007 11:39 PM

Too much epic?

/will not refer to Rhapsody with their new tag-on, no matter what Rhapsody Music says.

Tyler 02-22-2007 11:40 PM

Yeah, like when the album started I was so excited by the huge epic intro. The orchestra, choirs, all that ****. I loved it.

But then it just wouldn't stop!

Shattered_Future 02-22-2007 11:42 PM

Tis a shame. Manowar need to bring their balls back out.

Tyler 02-22-2007 11:45 PM

Well, it does end with Die For Metal, so it's not all bad.

Shattered_Future 02-23-2007 09:51 AM

True, true...

FOR HEAVY METAL, WE WILL DIE!

Stoic 02-23-2007 03:43 PM

Yeah disappointing indeed (not a fan but nevermind, hehe) although I don't really understand what's wrong. I mean, not actual songs, wtf?

Tyler 02-23-2007 10:51 PM

I'll post my review tonight, but this is an excerpt that about sums it up.
If you include the AMAZING bonus track (more on that in a minute), this album is one hour and thirteen minutes long. Now, if you do the math, there’s about half an hour worth of overtures and interludes on the album. There’s 8 Metal tracks on the album, which equals half of the tracklist, and three (four if you count Odin, which was on the EP in string form) of those were off the EP. What you’re left with is around 5 new Manowar tracks worth listening to, one of which is a bonus.
Tyler 02-24-2007 12:06 AM

Won't let me edit for some reason...

Here's the full review: http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review_11186

Nice review, but it does sadden me slightly as I download the album.

MetalOz 02-27-2007 06:38 PM

New Sabaton album has leaked...d/ling now :naughty:

Also, sad to admit I never listened to Edguy's Rocket Ride all the way through until last night. What is with the guitar-esque vocal solo in 'Return to the Tribe'?

Stoic 02-27-2007 07:02 PM

New Sabaton already? I bet it's identical to the last two :-\

How is Rocket Ride? Worthy buying?

 I love that part.

That is a great album, IMO, but it seems that every one else hates it.

Stoic 02-27-2007 07:43 PM
"Metalizer" was recorded in 2002 and was supposed to be distributed by Underground Symphony as Sabaton's debut album. After two years waiting Sabaton abandoned the album and found a new record company to release "Primo Victoria." Black Lodge eventually aquired the rights to "Metalizer" and released it in 2007.
YES! I recall, this is going to own hard. Best album by Sabaton guaranteed! It contains songs off Fist for Fight demo collection which is god-ish.

/downloads.

Shattered_Future 02-27-2007 08:31 PM

Edguy have done better albums than Rocket Ride, but I like it. It's more **** rock esque.

Vocal guitar solo owns hard. Period.

ArcLite 02-27-2007 09:03 PM

I didn't really think the album as a whole was that great, but "Sacrifice" alone makes it worth buying.

MetalOz 02-27-2007 09:30 PM

I recommend Mandrake and Hellfire Club before getting Rocket Ride

Stoic 02-28-2007 07:23 AM

The link is now inactive, can someone please give me the new Sabaton, I've been waiting for it since I heard Fist for Fight back in 2003 :upset:

CaptainWaits 02-28-2007 11:23 AM
I recommend Mandrake and Hellfire Club before getting Rocket Ride
I have Hellfire Club, but not Mandrake. Theater of Salvation is the opther Edguy I have, and it's my favorite. Very consistent album, however not quite as catchy as Hellfire Club.

Stoic 02-28-2007 01:47 PM

Sabaton - Metalizer
This album was recorded as early as 2002 but until today it has not been released. Black Lodge will release this album on the 16th of March. As a bonus on this release it will feature the full "Fist For Fight" demo album on a second CD. Watch out for this great release with a total number of 24 tracks.
Hellrider
Metalizer
Shadows
Burn Your Crosses
Endless Nights
Hail To The King
Thunderstorm
Masters Of The World

--These songs are included in both of Metalizer and First for Fight but the recordings are different. I noticed slightly varied solo sections and keyboard parts as well as more mature but less raw sounding vocals. Something is terribly wrong with the drumming in Thunderstorm, I prefer the demo version...

Out of the songs I had never listened to (Speeder, 7734, Birds Of War), I really liked Speeder, it has an old school speed metal edge just like Thunderstorm, the song which got me into Sabaton. 7734, I didn't like too much, I think they should have put The Hammer Has Fallen (found on the second disc) in the main release instead of this. Make sure you listen to The Hammer Has Fallen, is an absolutely fantastic but under rated Sabaton song, with great vocal lines. As for Birds Of War, I need to download it :-\

Sabaton at their best, better than Primo Victoria and Primo Victoria Pt2 (aka Attero Dominatus) \m/

I still haven't listened to Theater Of Salvation. I bought it about a week ago...

Mandrake is probably their best in my eyes, although Hellfire Club is a LOT catchier.

pate 02-28-2007 04:12 PM

Theater of Salvation and Rocket Ride are my favorites.

Riva 02-28-2007 05:49 PM

Can't wait for the new Sabaton. :D

You should listen to it. Like I said, it's consistent from start to finish, and there's a couple very very sweet songs. I haven't listened to Mandrak yet, but once I see it, I'll buy it......

Shattered_Future 02-28-2007 08:11 PM

I'll pop it in tomorrow. Too late now...plus, once you start listening to Ozric Tentacles, you can't stop.

Those 2 and Vain Glory Opera are the only other ones I want, really. I've heard a couple of songs off each, and they're all good.

Theatre of Salvation is a pretty good album.

Tyler 02-28-2007 08:52 PM

Vain Glory Opera rules, it's the only one I have. I love the title track, it reminds me of THE FINAL COUNTDOWN.
