Yeah, but when her son can come on the internet and laugh at the punishment he got for breaking her rules, she needs to be following through just a tad more :p
She's not really punishing me. She knows she can't anymore. Because she made it clear that her grounds meant that we couldn't do anything, unless it was with something we bought with our own money. Well, let's see. My TV, I bough, my DVD player, I bought. So I can watch movies, I could play gamecube if I felt like it.

BridgeToSolace 02-24-2006 09:03 PM
But I do believe if someone does not enjoy the relationship they should have the will power to get out on their own, or with some friends' help. They shouldn't need the incentive of someone better to leave.
Did you read that thing I posted at all? There are reasons people stay, and it's not about will power or whatever pretentious **** you're talking about.

That's very lame. My parents can still punish me even though I'm 20. "Hey, I'm gonna take the car ok?" "No, you're grounded." ":upset:"

Really though, she can punish you if she wants, even with those ground rules, trust me.
Did you read that thing at all? There are reasons people stay, and it's not about will power or whatever pretentious **** you're talking about.
Yes, I read it word for word though I skimmed other portions.

I know there are reasons people get caught up. Love is very very tricky. But here's the thing, if you can't leave for those reasons, then why should someone else be picking you up? that's how you'll hop from relationship to relationship. I do know people like that, haven't been single since they started high school for more than a week. But if you can't leave a bad situation because you're afraid of the pain, why are you in a relationship in the first place?

I have strong opinions on this mostly because of people I know, of them I think you read Gav's story and I'm not sure if I've told you Gaby's, but they're 2 that have influenced me greatly on this issue.

What where you out doing?

Pazz 02-24-2006 09:13 PM

Vince: My sister gets grounded from the car, that's the only thing they can ground her from because it's their car.

Jon: I was walking around town when I said I was going to be at the coffee shop. There was a change of plans and we were "going to go to McDonalds" instead, and I couldn't get to a payphone to call them.

Haha, I know, it sucks :(

But they could ground you from going out (with the gf for instance, now imagine being grounded a month), or, if she's real clever, she'll tell you you aren't allowed to use your electronics because you don't pay for the power :p

Wow, I've never been grounded in my life. Then again, I don't stupidly break rules in a way that would make it easy for me to be cought.
But if you can't leave a bad situation because you're afraid of the pain, why are you in a relationship in the first place?
Because relationships are not bad from beginning to end. The guy may have started nice to get in her pants, who knows? There's always some positive factor that would lead someone into a relationship. Acceptance from friends, sex, social pressures, whatever.
I have strong opinions on this mostly because of people I know, of them I think you read Gav's story and I'm not sure if I've told you Gaby's, but they're 2 that have influenced me greatly on this issue.
And I base my opinions on nothing. I've never even been in a relationship. Oh well.

LMAO. My mom stopped grounding me like 3 years ago. Mostly because I didn't misbehave.

HomeCatMickey8 02-24-2006 09:21 PM

Wow, you're mom is pretty strict dude...

Or maybe my pops is just not stict at all... or just clueless to everything...
No, that's not what I'm asking, I'm asking why you start a relationship if you know you couldn't bear the pain of ending it if you had to? I know there's always something good at first. But the daily pain should be a reminder of why it's time to move on.
You're young.

But to remind/tell...Gav and Gaby both were very deeply in love with someone who got involved with something bad. Drugs, abusive friends, etc... They didn't want to let go once they realized there was no way to have back what was once great, and they stuck around much longer than they should have. But in the end they both left the situation and are better off for doing so. If they weren't past that situation, I would respect them a lot less than I do.

People think that they're stronger than they are, maybe? I don't know.

Or people are just shortsighted and stupid.
But to remind/tell...Gav
I only got this far in reading that. You know why?

I still can't get over the fact that there is more than one person on this site named Gavin who do that stupid -Gav thing at the end of their posts.

I just can't ****ing believe that.

No one thinks they're stupid and shortsighted, though. You could be stupid and shortsighted right now and you wouldn't even know it.

I did, I just didn't have any important reaction to it, so I thought I'd make a joke instead.
Hey Mark, how goes?
N2m. My grandma came to America from Poland for two months so I came home for this weekend. School's been keeping me busy alongside some other stuff.

One of the kids who lived next to me in the dorm died from cardiac arrest in his sleep two weeks ago. Kind of a surreal experience. Also had some troubles with my gf but thats all been worked out with for now.

Sounds like people have parent issues. My parents haven't tried to discipline me since I went to college. It's pretty sweet.

HomeCatMickey8 02-24-2006 09:36 PM

I can be stupid and shortsighted at times... most times...

I know I am sometimes. But I try to fix the issue when I recognize it, whenever that happens.

Lamer. But you can see where my perspective on that comes?

School sucks. Radio is the best part :D Always nice to be home though.

That's pretty crazy. My gf's friend's bf died in a car accident a few weeks ago, he was in high school. That stuff is always surreal. Glad the gf issues are resolved or at least going alright though :)

No, don't get me wrong, my parents are fantastic. I don't appreciate it enough but I was raised in great conditions. But I still do get disciplined when I'm at home sometimes :-\ Less and less frequently though.
I can be stupid and shortsighted at times... most times...
See, people can admit it :p

HomeCatMickey8 02-24-2006 09:45 PM

Dude, what's up with kids dying. One of my friends from elementry school just died Monday. And some 15 year old kid from a town near here just randomly died in his sleep a few weeks ago. Weird

Yeah, from other people :p

I understand what you're saying, I just think it's not entirely fair a position to have.

Yes. But 100% of my opinions come from other people, or rather, my experiences with those people and my interactions. So that doesn't really say anything.

Eh, I'm not fair with a lot of my opinions. But it's better than the people who can't manage to make their own opinions.

Wot?

NP: Jimmy Eat World - Lucky Denver Mint

Eh...I've been told that my dad would die within three months.

That was a year or two ago, but I've already coped with the thought of my dad dying. He's got bad health problems.

Or I think I have, anyway. It'll probably be different when it really heppens.

I dissagree, Jon.

I enjoy Bleed America and some other EP that I have... can't think of the name at the moment.
